I would def go for a single painting there. Your living room is already quite the statement room due to the colors you have used and a gallery wall would be quite busy I think.
I definitely think one big painting for the wall! There’s this great art and interiors exhibition happening in Notting Hill at the end of April called Mrs and Mr Bateman, curated with tons of great, unique art finds - I think one of those pieces would look AMAZING!
(As an art gallery manager myself) I think a single painting would be best - it'll be more proportionate to the sofa just below it and the rest of the room. More importantly: On a practical level you won't want to have loads of glass from a gallery wall of framed pieces facing the TV, it'll be so absolutely annoying to be watching the telly and always see the reflection from the glass on screen. (Matte glass helps a little, but believe me it'll still catch the light and reflect off the TV screen.)
Glass nerd here 🙋🏻♀️ If you still love your coffee table, ask a local glazier if the bars will support a piece laminated toughened glass with radius corners. The overall edge of monolithic toughened glass is sensitive and when knocked, the whole piece can shatter. But if it’s laminated, the interlayer will keep the panel in tact. You can get tinted laminate too! Grey would look nice ☺️
Definitely go for a big artwork or three prints/artworks on the wall. I love gallery walls but not in the living room, they’re too trendy, can be a bit busy looking and are not as timeless or classic. Love what you’ve done with the room. And don’t stress about the shelves being a bit bare, you’ll find that you’ll fill them as you collect more things that you love, you’re in no rush.
Quick comment to say that we love your casual videos ! We are not here to watch crazy fancy videos, but to see you and your unique personality ! I personally adore the vlogy style videos about your house, your feelings, your life etc. Keep going ! Love from Paris xx
Honestly Lily, buy an original painting for the space behind the lounge. It’s so much more elegant and grown up then just following the norm and doing a gallery wall etc. Do so research on local artists, invest in something cool!
I would say no to the gallery wall. I think you've already got quite a lot going on in the rest of the room so i think a duo or trio of prints would looks best.
I’d suggest a triptych: basically one painting spread in three frames. Something abstract, maybe with copper paint or embossing could compliment the blue in the room
I think regardless of what you hang on the wall- just go for it! It’s just a few stall holes (or no holes if they’re not heavy frames and you’re using those strips), so easy to change if you don’t like it. My dad moved around a LOT as a kid and the first thing they always did in a house was to hang stuff on the walls because my grandpa said “it’s what makes it feel like it’s YOUR house”. Because of that I’ve always done that too and he’s totally right- it makes a room feel personal and “finished” even if there’s still loads to do!
such a beautiful room! also please don't care so much about doing super great content at the moment, just enjoy your pregnancy and rest a lot! I honestly enjoy the realness of your videos lately so much!
As an artist I have a real problem with the whole cheap prints on Desenio thing. Not anything against you Lily just in general. I think a big painting from a local artist would be so great. As a content creator why not support other creators? I'm sure a local painter would be thrilled for you to buy their work and maybe even share it with us so that person gets more recognition. Just a thought. The wall paint is beautiful. Definitely looks green to me.
I think one bigger painting above the sofa and then i'd definitely framed loads of family photos and put them onto the shelves along with some fun prints/quotes. With that being said i really think that the shelves are gonna get fuller over the years naturally so i wouldn't rush myself into putting random unneeded stuff there. Loved the video Lily as always!
Such a lovely space! I'm in the camp of one (or three) larger pieces on the wall instead of the gallery wall. I think the scale of larger pieces would nicely balance out the smaller items on the built-ins. I'm sure it will look great, whatever you do!
Love your interior style, I think it really shines in the living room! Great visual display of your personal taste. I think one big painting would look great, maybe something abstract that ties the orange/yellow/pink accent tones of the room together. I love that you’re experimenting with color in the room and a unifying piece might help it all come together. Thanks for sharing and props to you for all that talking and standing while very pregnant, I’m 15 weeks and already out of breath, can’t imagine third trimester!
Your home looks gorgeous. May I ask what direction your living room faces? I really want a bold colour in my living room but am having a really hard time working out if it’s the right thing to do. Pretty much all the windows in our flat are north or north-west facing so we never get any direct sunlight. Would love to know if this blue works well in a north facing room.
Totally agree with you! That coffee table is stunning, but it will be shoved in a corner the moment that baby starts spending time on the floor. A round coffee table that you can move easily would be great!
I agree with almost everyone (lol) and would go with one big painting above your couch to balance the busy bookshelves on the opposite wall. Plus it wil ground that side of the room better. Just remember to size it right, a piece that is too small will just look sad. I think it was Emily Henderson (might have been someone else) that showed that art has to be at least 2/3rds and wide as the couch beneath it. We ended up having to use a white border around our chosen print to make it work size-wise and I’m so glad we did! Hope you find something you love!
Always love a gallery wall...but whatever you do bare in mind you have a mirror opposite so you will see whatever you put there. Love the colours together like you say why not it's fun! Xxx
Go for a big painting/piece over the sofa, I think that would look less cluttered as the living room is quite busy already! Love that Hague blue on the walls, I would never have thought to have put a blue colour on the walls
I was going to say a gallery wall would look great, but then when you panned round and I saw the opposite wall I’d definitely say go for one large painting! With the opposite wall having shelving, the room would look far too cluttered with a gallery wall, but if you go for one really large (like nearly full size wall) unframed canvas painting it would look amazing!
Wow I absolutely love the lounge. Mine isnt a period home or with high ceilings. But I have some wacky colours too. Teal, Electric blue and mustard. Pebbles is what I call my baby brother ha ha. Love the film, you have so inspired me. I am going to go for it. Yay! Thankyou for all the detailed footage you are so easy to watch.
I would absolutely go with a gallery wall there. It's the perfect space for it, sort of framed out with that dark color and dark sofa. It'll bring structure and impact, without taking away from the rest of the room.
I also had a big wall to fill. I ended up grouping four complimentary canvases and then cut and stained some decorative trim wood as an oversized frame around it all. Great way to fill a large wall.
Absolutely adore your lounge! Go for the gallery wall! If you decide in a couple years that you just want one big painting then it will cover any holes from the gallery wall. I think it’ll really go with the style of the lounge!
One large, happy abstract painting, that is unique to your family and ties all the lovely colours you’ve used together. Worth waiting to find something you love
I'm with everyone else, big painting for sure! The room already has a lot going on, so it will help to anchor the space and provide a visual resting point.
Dont worry about content not being perfect. For me at least, I love the relaxed feel of your videos. It makes me feel like I am watching someone I already know and am comfortable with, and it is nice. Good luck with all exciting things coming your way 🌻
You should find some baskets that fit in your cabinets to use as storage for baby items. It’s a great way to have the items you need without having them out all the time. Our hidden toy drawers have now transitioned to arts and crafts or whatever the kids want to keep in the living room to play with.
At last!! Someone who's not afraid of COLOUR!! Well done! We also have a wood burner & when not in use on a miserable day I plug in the lights...just some LED plain Xmas lights wrapped in doubled up red tissue paper...soo effective!! It really does look like the wood burner is on & just cosyies up the room. Lampshades are also a must on a miserable day too (just have a handful of them here in Malta!) Hope everything went well for u on the baby front. Love from malta😎
It's a beautiful room. I love the dark blues with touches of bright color and gold. (The giraffe table is epic!) Those cupboards are going to be very handy for tucking away baskets of toys...
Love this style of video. It's just so easy and relaxing to watch. I think a series of 3 black and white prints above the sofa would be beautiful. They would complement the dark elements of the room.
Loving what you did with the space! Personally I love all three ideas for above the sofa. I agree though that a gallery wall might look a bit cluttered. However I think you should think of a future proof solution like a picture shelf or a picture rail (painted in the same blue as the wall so it blends in). We all change our minds, change style and want to switch things round when we get bored. A solution like that would make changing things so much easier and you wouldn't have to make 10000 holes in the wall every time. Ps. I think the splashes of pink, yellow and orange look great. Yes those colours don't usually go together but when broken up by so much blue they don't clash much. As long as you have those colours repeated around the space (like the pink in the carpet and puff) it looks planned.
Hi Lily. I love the colours in the lounge it looks amazing. Can I ask which photo albums you buy from paperchase? - I am looking tofind the perfect albums and those neutral ones that you have labelled look great :)
Would be so nice to do a picture ledge over the sofa so you can mix up your prints when you want! Make a gallery of it, and when you’re bored of that simplify it by just having 3 prints up etc. I also find it makes holiday decorating more fun because it’s super easy to exchange for festive prints and knickknacks xxx
One long one through the center would be cool, but so would three shorter ones hung up diagonally.... one up high and to the right, one centred and down a bit from the first, and one to the left and another step down (or vice versa). I can just see you styling up the picture ledges really nicely XX
I love all the different colors! Also if you did feel like it was too much I would just take out one. Pink and yellow look good together, or orange and yellow do. I love everything about this room! Concerning the wall above the couch. Why don't you try cutting out paper to the size of the photos and put it up with painters tape. That way you can take a picture of your options and then decided which will look better in your space
I want to grab a throw and cozy up in this room. You did a great job taking a room that you want to just sit in and chill. Never thought dark paint for darker room would work but it becomes cozy which is how I started my reply. Sometimes leaving a blank wall for a time, one day it will hit you this is what I want! You have great taste and no not too many colors in your “front room” in US if living room is to front of house it’s referred to as front room! Enjoy taking time to work on your home, always thought it had great layout and watched the transformation you and Rich did. 💐🌸🤗 Great Decisions
I think a big, single piece would work great. I see an abstract sort of painting of colors that tie the room together, being primarily white, that grey-pink color, and some blue/grey/yellow in there.
I wouldn’t go for a gallery wall Lily. I had one of those and when I decided I no longer wanted it, there were so many holes behind the pictures that needed filling in. I would personally get one big picture. I currently have 3 pictures in place of the gallery wall now and now wish I had gone for one big one as a statement piece. I’m sure whatever you do will be nice as your style is lovely. Thanks for sharing!
lovely room, you should get it in an interiors mag! only thing i wanted was a shot where you had really pulled back and took an establishing shot from the dining table to show the whole room, all walls and ceiling and chandelier, for context
Yay I’ve been waiting for this! You & Rich have done an AMAZING job!! Well done - so beautiful! also, a few low light houseplants on those shelves either side of the fireplace would look beautiful (& tie in with your palm)!
It makes me roll my eyes that anyone would tell you that you have too many colours, if your space is making you happy who gives a shit. My house is full of colour (and lots of pink, yellow, orange, and blue together) and I love how it looks so much. I think your space looks beautiful and that a colourful painting would bring even more vibrancy and life to the space :)
i would love a gallery wall on that wall! i feel like a single painting wouldn’t fully appreciate all of the space you have. i like the idea of a gallery wall would be beautiful with all white frames or some sort of string connection between each of the pieces like a color and shape or something like that.
I absolutely never comment on videos, but I think what you said about being your best self during your pregnancy must be true, because I've been subscribed to you for YEARS, and had sort of stopped watching your content. Since you've announced your pregnancy, I feel like your content has new life, and I've reconnected.
I would say either 1 big painting or a gallery wall :) you could even do a gallery wall of photos when little one is born? Your home is beautiful, the colour is amazing x
Loved your lounge & the tour! The only thing I would personally do differently, are the throw pillows. I'd probably pick a colour or pattern that uses some of the existing colours...pink, light grey, blue. Also, I'd go with a gallery wall above the sofa. :)
Absolutely loved this video, the room looks amazing and so cosy. I would go for one big painting I think, I don't know if you are working with holes or these sticky things but if you put holes in the wall, at least you have only one that you could cover up instead of several different ones. Xx
It would be lovely with three smaller round tables, that go together but that also can be moved to the different sofas and chairs. Love your house, its amazing!
I think this is the first time I've ever commented on a video in the 7 years I've been watching RUclips, but I'd like to request a scrapbooking video! Love the look of your scrapbooks from the outside, so am dying to get inspired by how you've done them on the inside 😊 I love how you've styled this space by the way! I would go for something brightly coloured above the couch, to tie in the pinks, reds and yellows!
Hi Lily ...Great video and beautiful living room!! I would like to ask, I'm loving your new sofa and found it on Loaf. How did they manage to get it through your living room door? As its quite a large sofa ...
As for the coffe table ... if there is any sharp corner on a table or chair in the house, chances are almost at 100 procent that toddlers will find a way to smash their heads on it. And especially as it is a glass table I would recommend to switch it out. Wood is softer and doesn't shatter.
I think you should store toys (when the time is right) on the right side of the fireplace in the cabinet and on the top of it so most is "hidden" and easy to reach toys on the top.
I love F&B Hague Blue, absolutely beautiful colour. I am planning to use this shade on one wall in our lounge as a feature wall for now. But I am wondering whether you used a dark tone undercoat before you painted Hague blue paint on top? I have quite a bit of white colour undercoat left and wondering whether could get away with using this, or whether I would need to pay out for the dark tone grey undercoat ...?
I think something 3D on that wall could be fun! Like a sculpture or art piece. Paintings or prints might be too linear because the other wall has so many horizontal lines. Can’t wait to see what you try!
I think you are overthinking the content bit. I for one am really enjoying seeing you evolve with the home, the baby etc and actually enjoying it more than before. Just be yourself- that’s what we are here for! You needn’t be fancy at all. Xx and best of luck!!
Your paint seems like it's not for high traffic rooms and is already showing lots of wear. What finish did you pick? I really love velvet furniture, if you ever get a cat you'll find they tend not to scratch the material.
I like the idea of three frames one the gallery wall. I feel like that would give you the most flexibility in the future. If you have family portraits made, you could switch it out. My mother always had pictures made the same size so that she could switch them out or move them around the house! It's a fun simple way to change things up.
One big original painting would look amazing. If you get a gallery rail you can hang as few or as many frames as you want without putting additional holes on the wall
Your content has been amazing lately ! Love the baby and homey content it’s super lovely to watch and it really has let your audience into your life in a beautiful way 😊
What a lovely room - I like all the colours! And I'm sure you'll soon fill up those shelves with baby photos, and of course all the cards you'll receive when fridge arrives 🤗
I love this room and I’m decorating as well and I used Hague Blue in my living room as well with grey and copper accessories. I did a print wall with Desenio prints and love it but I do like the simplicity of having a plain wall too. I think that space should be saved for a gorgeous baby portrait. Xx
I would def go for a single painting there. Your living room is already quite the statement room due to the colors you have used and a gallery wall would be quite busy I think.
Merel Yes exactly I was about to comment the same thing. I think a funky abstract colorful painting would look great !
And if the staircase isn't too narrow you could have the pictures put up there
I agree too, it probably would be quite busy if there was a gallery wall there. Xx
Would never have thought about the TV/glass reflection.... such a good point!! Totally agree, one painting would look fab ❤👌
Great, practical advice!! 😘
Looks beautiful...I think a big painting above the main sofa would look best!
Glass nerd here 🙋🏻♀️
If you still love your coffee table, ask a local glazier if the bars will support a piece laminated toughened glass with radius corners.
The overall edge of monolithic toughened glass is sensitive and when knocked, the whole piece can shatter. But if it’s laminated, the interlayer will keep the panel in tact. You can get tinted laminate too! Grey would look nice ☺️
I vote for BIG painting! Lovely video :)
Def choose one big painting instead of a gallery wall 🙂 personally i think it would be too much with lots of pictures
Honestly Lily, buy an original painting for the space behind the lounge. It’s so much more elegant and grown up then just following the norm and doing a gallery wall etc. Do so research on local artists, invest in something cool!
allynedlum yes!
Yes this is what I wanted originally. They look so great! x
yes A triptych was on my mind
I think regardless of what you hang on the wall- just go for it! I think the yellow and pink are gorgeous together!
absolutely love what you've done with the room! even though the paint is so dark, it appears to seem bigger now than before
Thanks. I agree, paint is so clever! x
such a beautiful room! also please don't care so much about doing super great content at the moment, just enjoy your pregnancy and rest a lot! I honestly enjoy the realness of your videos lately so much!

One big painting above the sofa. I can totally see it. So elegant, your space, and eclectic. You go with your color-loving self.
Such a lovely space! I'm in the camp of one (or three) larger pieces on the wall instead of the gallery wall. I think the scale of larger pieces would nicely balance out the smaller items on the built-ins. I'm sure it will look great, whatever you do!

Love the space! I would go for the single wall painting but I trust that whatever you’d do would look amazing
Love the room! I think a 3-panel canvas of one image would look great above the sofa
I think one big painting over the sofa would be perfect! It would be more calm than any other option. Otherwise there is too much going on.
I think triptych black and white painting/art would look great on the wall. It will kind of tie in with the coffee table book.
Yeah same here. One big painting (but nothing cheap!) would look very sophisticated! Very beautifull house!

Absolutely adore your lounge! Go for the gallery wall! If you decide in a couple years that you just want one big painting then it will cover any holes from the gallery wall. I think it’ll really go with the style of the lounge!
I love a gallery wall or triptych. But you will come up for what is right for your living area. You have a very lovely and unique style.
One large, happy abstract painting, that is unique to your family and ties all the lovely colours you’ve used together. Worth waiting to find something you love
I think it gorgeous, if every you stop doing you tube interior design is probably a way to go!!
I'm with everyone else, big painting for sure! The room already has a lot going on, so it will help to anchor the space and provide a visual resting point.
I love your content more than ever! I think you're doing a great job!
Thanks so much x
Love the colours! I'd opt for a large single painting over the sofa. Something colourful to draw on the yellow, pink and orange (and the blues!)
Your living room pendant is beautiful. Where did you get the bulbs from?
Dont worry about content not being perfect. For me at least, I love the relaxed feel of your videos. It makes me feel like I am watching someone I already know and am comfortable with, and it is nice. Good luck with all exciting things coming your way 🌻

How are you finding your boho sofa from loaf.... is it still something your enjoying ? very tempted but seen inconsistent reviews of their sofas...x
Don’t know if anyone else has commented but that space is perfect for canvas of the baby or family portrait etc.
i would love a gallery wall on that wall! i feel like a single painting wouldn’t fully appreciate all of the space you have. i like the idea of a gallery wall would be beautiful with all white frames or some sort of string connection between each of the pieces like a color and shape or something like that.
Love that paint colour 👌
Do the gallery wall! Will look awesome and will tie in all the different cushion colours.
One or two big paintings... we have a similar wall (in red) and we have two modern massive colourful paintings gypsy-themed. It's a stand out point!
I love the living room & the color you chose. Someday I want a nice, dark, cozy room like this!
Loved your lounge & the tour! The only thing I would personally do differently, are the throw pillows. I'd probably pick a colour or pattern that uses some of the existing colours...pink, light grey, blue. Also, I'd go with a gallery wall above the sofa. :)
Hair looks so glowy and healthy in the intro!!
I think a shelf above your sofa in the same colour as your walls would look lovely, with some accessories, although it looks nice already
I have a really honest question: isnt it too dark because of the dark blue colour on the wall?
Definitely a big painting. Love how chilled and content you seem it’s so nice to see. Wishing you and Rich all the best with your home and family 🙏❤️
Your paint seems like it's not for high traffic rooms and is already showing lots of wear. What finish did you pick? I really love velvet furniture, if you ever get a cat you'll find they tend not to scratch the material.
One big painting for sure... and your vlogs are fancy, even when you may think they're not Xx
If you get a gallery rail you can hang as few or as many frames as you want without putting additional holes on the wall
think a painting would look lovely over the sofa! also love how the poof and the leopard cushions tie in the pinks of the room! x
Your content has been amazing lately ! Love the baby and homey content it’s super lovely to watch and it really has let your audience into your life in a beautiful way 😊
Don’t apologize for anything. You’re doing fantastic! Loved the video!
What a lovely room - I like all the colours! And I'm sure you'll soon fill up those shelves with baby photos, and of course all the cards you'll receive when fridge arrives 🤗
hi, how many coats of paint did you need to achieve this result ? Looking into painting my room in hague blue as well ;)
I love this room and I’m decorating as well and I used Hague Blue in my living room as well with grey and copper accessories. I did a print wall with Desenio prints and love it but I do like the simplicity of having a plain wall too. I think that space should be saved for a gorgeous baby portrait. Xx
Put a picture rail up on the blank wall then you can easily change out the artwork as the mood takes you.
I think your new London print would look great above the sofa!
