Hey I'm 59. The Julia season aired when I was 9 . I saw most of the shows. For Christmas 1969. All I wanted for Christmas was Julia Baker doll for Christmas.. My parents couldn't afford it. So I got a cheaper doll instead. Good news though, 50 yrs later found A Julia Baker doll in an antique store. Bought her. Gave her a hot bath and a new nurse's uniform And lovingly placed her in a glass case. Too love her for the rest of my life. Just been watching re runs with a big smile on my face. THANKS NBC. And every one involved👍 THANKS 😊
@@davionmceqwan3031 The Julia Doll (By Mattel, the same people who made first Barbie 10 years prior) was a whole 4 dollars and 27 cents. Corrected for inflation, that would be $31.27, and thats fairly expensive even for a doll of the time.
Rather than being ahead of its time, I actually think this show was typical of its time. That is to say, it was written during an era when black women were gaining more visibility in professional roles.
Remember watching this as a child and enjoyed the Mother and Son healthy relationship. Julia displayed a devoted Mother, nurse and intelligent and pretty Woman.
Thank you for allowing us to see this groundbreaking show Julia. It let us see the future when Clair Huxcable came on the Cosby Show. We are beautiful and intelligent women.
I think I was 11 when this came out and I didn't get to see much of it because I guess there was something else coming on another channel that our family usually watched ... so I only remember a little bit of the show but I definitely remember us watching Room 222 and I remember that theme song
I am Australian and we didn’t get many American tv shows but we got a season of this and I loved it . I’m 51 in dec 2020 and I am glad I found this . He was such a cute little boy lol
I loved this show as a small child! To this day, I think she was always the most beautiful actress. I am so happy after decades I am able to watch again.
Did most of you know Diahann Carroll was with Sydney Poitier around the time she did this show? and that they both were married but carried on a 9 year affair til she gave him the ultimatum to leave his wife so they could get married? he ended up not leaving his first wife so that was why their union ended.
I read about their affair many years ago. I can't remember the source. I think it was during her Dynasty days when I learned that about her through the tabloids.
@@deborahyisrael5258 Right! Back in the 1980s when Dynasty was no.1, excerpts from their books were in the papers. A ton load of articles were written about the stars on the show. That was when I learned too about Joan Collins' taboo affair with Harry Belafonte way back in the 1950s.

I was born in 1996 but I've been on a binge for this show. Truly ahead of the time

Amazing actress and brilliant Marc Copage child actor.
Loved this show as a child.
If only the messages so beautifully conveyed in these episodes, would be conveyed and lived by today.
I remember watching this in B&W, because we didn't have a colored TV. A simpler time, a better time.

Corey is playing with Hot Wheels they were the hot new thing back then
things sure have changed. can you imagine leaving a 5 year old alone all day while you work? and knowing a phone installer was coming? scary stuff
Happy Black History Month ❤
Yo estaba pequenia cuando veia esta serie, la TV era en blanco y negro.
The show is very cute but Corey gets ABANDONED in every episode so far!!
Anglo-Saxon White narrative. No Black person wrote any part of this show as in all shows involving Black families and faces.

Clifton davis
That's NOT Clifton Davis...
They had water guns back n those days
I was thinking the same thing
A Black man invented the water gun. Do your research on your people. Blacks invented most everything used in this country in around the world.
❤️
Mr telephone man is not clifton
What I never understood was why Cory always call earl by his full name why couldn't he just call him Earl or Earl J but it was always Earl J Waggedorn
I need dvd set
It's not

No black male head of household!?!
She plays a widow.. her husband died in the military a pilot I believe.
Her Hubby was killed in Vietnam.
@@robinivens7870
They mentioned it in the first episode
White man wrote, directed and produced this show as well as all shows about black families and people. white man's narrative about us.
She don't look black. She sounds booji and looks dipped. Not real.
😆
She's mixed.
No, she had two black parents. Th e truth is that most black Americans have some European heritage.
