Does it have to be a meringue icing can it be ordinary butter cream??and what would the measurements be if u were to use meringue powder instead of egg whites?? And can these orchids be used to decorate cakes? Btw love how u mention all of the details

The egg whites are cooked by the very hot sugar syrup in Italian meringue. No raw eggs in that recipe :)
