Thank you Corrine for your video. Your vintage fabric haul looks beautiful and the Gosling quilt project looks amazing. I have never made a quilt but I do admire those who do. I am doing some EPP but only small projects. Your 2 quilts are glorious and next to cream an burgundy sort of French General fabric tones I love rich blues and golds. How wonderful to have them both back with you. I bet you are snowed under at this time of year with your business. I am saving videos up to watch over the Christmas time. Enjoy your retreat, looking forward to hearing all about it.
Lovely quilts. I purchased the gosling quilt at the beginning of the year. Been collecting doileys for it. I cant decide on the two main joining triangle fabrics. Hope to start just after christmas. How exciting i will be able to stitch along. 💗 Take Care
Thank you for sharing your haul and your lovely quilt that you made for your mom. I'm looking forward to seeing you work on your new quilt. The retreat is going to be so much fun! Enjoy!
I’m so happy you are going to quilt the gosling quilt. I have the pattern and templates as well. Right now I am putting together the Orla quilt - another of Becs patterns. I love combining the old and the new! Can hardly wait to see the “Corrine spin”
Lovely quilt you made for your mum. Love the added hand stitching. You sound supper busy take care and I hope you are finding time to wind down a little. Have a lovely retreat and thanks for the look at your advent calendars. Lovely fabrics too. Take care.
I am so glad to hear you are doing the gosling quilt. I bought my pattern, templates and papers as my christmas present. It’s a beautiful quilt and l am looking forward to collecting my fabric a d watching your progress along the way
Thanks for the heads up on the quilt book, I just ordered it. I’m clueless on quilting so I’m sure your continued projects and this book will help me figure it out. I am enjoying your Christmas panel project!!
Need to add a second comment about advent calendars. Torri from KoolKookyKreatues , just did a mini series on decorating a reusable advent tree with pullout drawers. She decorated it with slow stitch pieces. It’s bold and bright like her, but it works and it was stunning. So I’ve ordered my tree to work on next year. So when you get a chance pop on over to check hers out
Super talented!❤❤❤❤ Beautiful quilts, I regularly follow your work.. from india..just mind blowing! Wish you and everyone in your family the very best, for Christmas and the new year ....
Those quilts are beautiful. Thanks for the update on all the projects. The roxysjournalofstitchery projects will give me time to get caught up when you begin again. I'm also waiting for the final prompt to see how I want to incorporate the last season. Have a wonderful workshop with Rachel and Sarah and a blessed Christmas. See ya when I see ya!
I am currently working on the Gosling quilt and having so much fun. I come to slow stitching from the quilting world and was drawn to the quilt as a way to incorporate some of my vintage embroideries into quilting. My version is similar to Bec’s and also includes vintage feedsack fabrics and some repro 30s and 40s style fabrics. I am using the EPP technique as Ihad all the papers required in my stash though my sizing is slightly smaller. I look forward to seeing your version come together, it is a great pattern.
Most of those blocks are those names- however some blocks go by different names, depending on where you live in the USA. Many designers will ‘update’ an old block to make it easier to assemble and the way they put it together may adjust the name. But for the most part those blocks go by the original name it was given way back when. Most of the block names are describing or depicting life and the time of the quilter. It might be important to point out, especially to the newbie’s who are following you to pick out a block size. This way when it’s time to assemble, the blocks will fit together easily, without adding additional fabric to make the blocks fit.
@ There is a common belief that quilts were used to aid in the Underground Railroad ( slaves fleeing to freedom) safe houses would hang a quilt out with a specific block which corresponded to different meanings. This would tell those seeking freedom where to go for help. Those same blocks that you are wondering about were used for this purpose. It is very interesting and you can find lots of information on google. Some people state that this is not a truth, to each his own, I prefer to believe that the quilts assisted!

Lovely tins
Ive got the Gosling template, and I have the Alice Caroline book to.😊
Are you planning to work them next year! Or saved for a rainy day?
I think I will make a effort and start on it.

Such a great history.. all with needle and thread.
The Alice's Wonderland book has some mistakes, so you will need to download the corrections for those blocks.
Oh I will definitely check that out!
Those block names are traditional names, not unique to Alice. In America we refer to these blocks by these names all of the time.
It is so interesting! So much history
