@joe blogs Most countries don't have monarchies and they have much better social services than the UK. What the people want is jobs and food on the table and a government that looks after its own people. The British monarchy is not admired 'on the world stage'. They also have no political clout at all. It seems the methane gas is expelled from your mouth as well as your behind. He is a world renowned historian and brilliant in his research. He does not deal in salacious books but warts and all of these people as it should be told in history. An all round view, very interesting and informative books.

Monarchy is the best system, but not the European/British version. True monarchy is theocracy. Divine Right, however, is not the same as the law of primogeniture. Look at what happened to Russian monarchy. It sunk into Rasputinusm, and then came the revolution. The same thing is happening in the United Kingdom. The true King is chosen by God, no one else. Britain still has a historical role, but not with present players.
There is no such thing as divine right, and so the called monarchy are merely ancient land grabbers of over a thousand years. It's undemocratic, self serving, and has no place in the 21st century.
