Repairing a Nissan Juke rear door handle - jamming and sticky, can I solve it?

  • Our Nissan Juke has a door handle at the back that doesn't click back into place so sometimes if you've opened the door it won't stay shut. I wasn't sure if this was the handle, mechanism, cable, etc, so took a look.
As it turns out this is an easy fix just with a bit of time.

Thanks for the video, I'm just fixing this on mine it's a bugger you can't get the plastic handle out to reveal the hinges. I applied heat to it then basically done what you done it takes a bit of time but frees it up enough.👍

Same issue with my 10yr old Juke, even though the passenger doors are never used. I’m going to try this as I want to sell it.

I had this issue with mine, I just replaced it with a new non gen part on eBay. It does the job but it’s not the same quality as the OE one

Yeah, that was the backup plan but thought I'd do a bit of investigation first as I was curious why it'd failed like that. Still an odd design

We have exactly the same issue… I guess we won’t need to take it off the car but just keep spraying 👍

Yes should be fine still on the car, just be careful to avoid getting wd40 or similar cleaner on paintwork as it'll probably damage it

Same issue but couldn't get it to unjam whilst on car - needed to remove it (very easy to do) and spray and then vigoursly waggle the handle back and forth (difficult to do with it still connected to mech) for it to become free - trust me it's half an hour job tops from start to finish. Same issue with rusty stuff leaking from corner afterwards so be careful if doing it at end of day as you could have nasty mark down paintwork if left overnight - just keep checking and wiping away any leakage until it stops.

Could this be done without removing the handle?

Possibly, just try to avoid getting wd40 or release agent on the paintwork

Tried this and it loosened both handles up but now when i lock the car and reopen the back doors can only be opened from the inside , once i do that they are both ok until i lock again , any ideas on a fix

Hi, this sounds like something else, possibly with the child lock mechanism. Try clicking the child lock on and off a few times in case something there has got stuck after freeing the handles. It's not something I've seen though.

That's pretty bad, I had similar a while back, the dislikes disappeared so I assume the account got banned. Keep doing what you're doing Ian :-)
