As a foreigner I do appreciate your perfect diction, I can understand each word clearly because your english is very "pure" and your mother has exactly the same perfect diction. So, many thanks Nicola! ( I have to say that I have some problems with the accent of some your friends.😊)
Fascinating, particularly when you consider that only a short time mudlarking enables one to uncover such windows into the past! By all means, hire your Mum as a researcher.
She seems much like my mom. Sharp and clever, can use modern tech, but obviously didn't grow up with all the current technology. I have great respect for our mums, who work hard to get the most out of these new resources!
If I had met your mom on the street, I would have thought I knew her. You have the same lovely twinkle in your eyes. Honored to meet her! Thanks to you both.
I've heard say, "No one is truly gone as long as someone remembers them". Your passion on the Thames has brought back so many "Forgotten Persons". Best wishes to all in 2020. Tom USA
Well the apple didn't fall far from the tree--I can see where you get your keen interest in the research. Your mother is a delight and I hope we do see more of her.
Lovely Sunday afternoon treat. I do enjoy the follow-ups, they add so much to the finds. Your mum did a great job as your assistant and I hope we get see and hear more from her in the coming months - lovely lady, hold her close.
I love the mud Christmas present analogy! I often feel that exact way when I'm working with Amber. You never know what beauty it hides until it's exposed. I knew you were standing next to Frederick Jury's resting spot the moment it showed on screen. That was a great larking adventure and I thank you for both that, and for keeping his memory alive. Loved seeing your Mum!! She did a wonderful job! All the best to you both!
Warm greetings from "tiny" New Hampshire, USA. From the perspective of a high school History teacher, I'm fascinated (and appreciative!) for the opportunity to see the world from the perspectives of countless others who came before. Thanks so much for your thoughtful, informative and amazing videos!
Such a lovely video, Nicola. You're mother was wonderful. Full of charm and grace and well spoken. I loved to listen to her. Thank you for sharing your time with us. I lost my mom 7 years ago and this just warmed my heart and lifted me up today. 💜💛💙💚💓
Thank you so much for letting us share your Mum. Always see n learn so much. I so enjoy just looking and saying “what’s that by your foot “ as if you can hear me . Lol. JB Salem , Oregon.
Hi nicola and mum, I'd just like to drop a line or two to say how much I always look forward to uploading a new vlog. I and so many more of your viewers enjoy you taking us on a journey researching pipes buttons and the likes. I get joy listening to you enthuse about things washed up on the foreshore. You're a breath of fresh air Nicola. Your mum, son and all of your family must be so proud of you. Keep up the good work. Wishing you and all your family a happy new year, good health, joy, wealth in 2020, and also hope it brings a wealth of new discoveries for you and your delightful mum to research. Sending you love, joy and hugs a plenty Helen xx
It is almost unbelievable that such a wealth of historic items are still available, simply for the taking if you have the energy and interest required to seek them. The video was, as usual, well done and completely enjoyable. Thank You Nicola!
The pipes are my favorite, followed by the vulcanite stoppers...and then anything with text on it😊. Mudlarking the Thames is on my bucket list. Happy New Year from Michigan ✌🏼😎
I haven't joined you in your Mudlarking adventures for about a week and I must say I have missed you. Ii's never mundane even if it's a button and your infectious excitement for every button, bullet and pipe brings a moment of joy. Thank you for taking us along on your Thames adventures.
I've only just come across this video, six months later. Another terrific half hour of interest and entertainment, thank you. At the time it was made we had no warning of the events which have occurred since. Do hope you and your Mum have kept well.
You brought Mr. Jury back to life, his spirit must be overjoyed! Thank you for another beautiful video Nicola. We can see though your mother where you get your love for history.
Yea! What a treat today of a cool new video, but also 2 in 1! Thanks nic! Special thanks to your wonderful mum too. What a sweetheart she is, and interesting to listen to aswell. She Needs her own channel because I would sign up for it, whatever content she chose.
Oh, I would give anything to “unwrap” those Christmas presents! I can only imagine how exciting it is to pull treasures out of the mud. ❤️ Your mom is sweet.
I can’t tell you how much I look forward to each and every one of your videos. Your finds are amazing and your enthusiasm and research make them even more incredible. Thank you!!!!!!
Nicola, I see you had your twin with you. How absolutely darling that your brought your mum in with you. What a wonderful way to start the New Year. Thank you for sharing these precious moments with your mother. We look so forward to your new adventures and finds. Your mud sister, Margaret, God Bless you.
What a great Mudlark session. You never know where your finds are going to take you. The Thames is now my most favorite river! The Thames is the story keeper!
Nicola, the closed captions on your vids always show [applause] for the wave sounds, so next time you mudlark know that the Thames is applauding you all the way!
Your Mum is lovely! 😊Thank you so much for the wonderful video and for all the research that is done! It's so great that you show the history & take the time to share it with us! ...take really good care!
Thank you, another wonderful video of you. I‘m fascinated by the interesting things you can find on the banks of the Thames and always particularly pleased when you find these fascinating pipes. Your joy at every find is contagious💫👍☘️🤩
Very interesting, it has to be a good feeling to have history come to life through an object that both you and the historical person have held in your hand.
I quite like today's finds! Thank you for taking me on another lovely lark. I look forward to, every Sunday afternoon, finding out what Nicola's up to...
Wonderful new research partner you have added! The excitement of finding the information and history on objects found is certainly passed on to your followers! Happy New Year to you as well Nicola and Co!
I’m now officially addicted to your channel... As a child my sister and I would mudlark along the banks of the river Tweed, one summer finding so much lead that my father sold it to the battery recycling man at the family garage: Tweedside Motors. We felt quite rich after that. Again to my question: why so much unfired ammunition? Butterfingers?
I can tell you that misfiring was a very common incident with any model of older military machinery, from Lee Enfield rifles to shelling equip. once they heated up they often started to misfire
I do not know why I was suggested this video by RUclips today, but I can’t stop watching! This is amazing!! Is it really that easy to find things at low tide? Heck, I would very happily give up a day on a trip to London, just to do this! This is so cool!
Fascinating information on the Pipe maker. Some lovely Christmas presents wrapped in mud! It was great to see your mom involved in research. Thanks for sharing and happy Mudlarking! ~ Gypsy
Brilliant stuff, the story behind things is fantastic. Good research Anita! I'd love all my presents wrapped up in Thames mud! Still working on getting my permit and up to London (health permitting) I even have a printer's letterpress tray ready for finds! Always inspired by you Nic. Happy finding for 2020. 😊
Wonderful video, Nicola! And many thanks to your Mom for sharing her excellent research. Sincere best wishes for a great new year, and for more amazing discoveries mudlarking on the banks the Thames.
Beautiful to see your mom, warms the heart... loved the angels lighted up in the streets too... hire your mom, lol, we love to hear the history of objects... can't wait for your next video.
Another fun lark. It's amazing that you found two unusual pipes you didn't have in your collection! Nice to have your mum to help with the research. Hope you have a happy 2020.
Nice post... Lovely meeting your Mum hope to see more of her. I love the research and the stories you find and share it makes your post so rich and human...Be well and the best to you, your family and friends.
Nicola, I will probably never go mud-larking. but I really love watching your videos. They are so well made and relaxing with that "Never no what you might turn up next factor". I hear youngsters nowadays say there is nothing to do or I'm bored. If its not a computer game or a face book page the majority show little interest in anything else. I was fortunate enough to have parents that bought me up to appreciate the great outdoors and all it has to offer, from nature, history, foraging and so much more. If there is such a thing could the Mudlark community come together and advertise this fantastic hobby to the younger generation? Sorry its an o.a.p. rambling!
I swear, watching these pipe extractions never gets old. They're such beautiful objects.
Thanks Lana! x
Amazing that you reunited that luggage tag you found with the WW1 veteran 💜
I always appreciate the extent to which she follows a thread. I’m sure the originators of her efforts appreciate being sought out and remembered.
What a lovely lady your mum is Nicola and doesn’t she sound like you, hope you and your family have a fantastic year xx
