Dual Sporting On A Suzuki V-strom 650 | Rough & Rocky Trail Riding | Walking Stick Part 2

- Dual Sport riding on a Suzuki V-strom 650 can be fun and doing it on a rough and rocky jeep trail is a great way to train for the TransAmerica trail. This is a jeep trail in North Georgia that runs into North Carolina. We like to put our adventure motorcycles to the test to see what they can handle as well as what we can handle. Suzuki V-stroms whether it be the 650 or the 1000 or great adventure bikes and will take us anywhere we want to go. If you don't know what the Trans America Trail is I highly suggest looking it up. We like to show that don't need a moped or a drz or klr or Yamaha tenere to go on great adventure rides. Whatever bike you have is capable of adventure. Just go out and do it and motocamp along the way 😁. As always thanks for watching and please consider subscribing.

V stroms the most underrated advs
We agree 100% Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it 👊
I've had a KL250, then a KLR650, and now ride a first gen WeeStrom. The Wee is not an off-road bike. A good rider can take it off road if it has proper tires, etc, but it's not an easy task. The Wee is happiest running country roads and some decent gravel roads. It's the Corolla of motorcycles: it's bullet-proof, it does everything decent, some things well, but is not exceptional at any one thing.
I took mine into some pretty crazy stuff and moved on to a 1000 and took it through a lot of crazy stuff too. I now have a KTM 990 adventure which suits my riding style much better but my brother still rides a 1000. We just got back from riding the Kentucky Adventure Tour and it definitely put the V-strom to the test. They are great bikes and can take most adv riders to the places they want to go.
Thanks for the video, fun ride, beautiful fall colors popping there.
No problem thanks for watching. The fall colors was one of our favorite things about the ride.
Okey Mountain Saturday. Let’s gooooooo
It's not looking good for me this weekend but I'm still trying.
Great ride guys - Loved every minute of it. That old grave yard was cool. Those are very interesting to me. That one guy lived to 60 or so - Pretty old for over 100 years ago.
Cheers !
Thanks. Yeah those old graveyards are just really cool and give you a certain feeling that I can't really describe. Yeah 60 was pretty old for those times. Hopefully that's not the case nowadays cause we're getting close to that 😂
Cool ride
👊
Ok I’m sold on the V Strom.
They are great bikes and definitely unrated. I think you'll enjoy it
You all made that look EASY,.... and I know it wasn't in some spots....Keep on...Keep on......;-)
Thanks! The real rocky sections especially going up that one hill was kinda rough but for the most part it wasn't too bad. Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it 👊
Dang, that is one rough road. It looks like fun. Well done getting the Strom through there.
All about the archer, not the arrow
Archer>Arrow
Well done
It's a short Rd but really fun. Thanks man. I need to go ride it on the 990 here soon.
@TheBeardedGrump heck yeah, canr wait to see the footage. 'The Beast' will go right through there like it's nothing. That KTM you have is a special bike. Glad you got the one you wanted.
Hell Yeah make ADV Real Again. Love it. Fun Ride.
😁 we had to get our own saying like your "ADV California" in my best voice over voice of course 😁. Thanks for watching. 👊
@@TheBeardedGrump Drive it Home I like it. “Make ADv Real Again”

What an awesome track! Vstroms can go anywhere 🙂
It was a fun one to ride. We need to find more like it 😁. Thanks for watching 👊
Great video once again!! Kind of reminded of some of the stuff I see Ian ride!! Looked like some tough riding in spots too. Yes, I’ve had days where the riding was as easy as could be, then others where I just wanted to get home in one piece!! Great video guys, see you in the next one!!
Thanks! Yeah Ian kills it on his V-strom. I think we all have those days. This was probably the funniest road we've ridden so far. Can't wait to find more. Thanks for watching and commenting Patrick. We really appreciate it
Great video boys! This trail turned out to be one of my #1 videos! People love to see real technical trail riding seems like! Some of those ruts swallowed my 125 whole nearly. I absolutely love that area!
Thanks. I think for the most part people want to see if you'll crash or not and that's what they like about these types of ride videos 🤣. It was a cool area for sure. It's about time to go camping. Just had a lot going on lately and hadn't had much time for moto stuff.
@@TheBeardedGrump same here man!! We took a little trip last month to tellico and had a great time. I'll let ya know when we plan the next one!
Excellent riding. I trail ride on a DR350SE in Wales and have done some tracks on my 650 VStrom.
You've inspired me to get some chunkier rubber and get out there.
Thanks! That's awesome! And we've never heard the words that we inspire anyone to do anything so that's pretty dang cool. Hope you have fun out there and stay safe. Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it.
Great video
Thanks 👊
Great riding guys, that was a rocky looking track. It's usually safer in the ruts but I hate going in the deep ones because I worry my pegs will get stuck.
It's good to practice on tracks like that, you go on a long adventure ride and you don't always know what the tracks will be like and if you do know it's not much of an adventure!
Thanks. It was really loose rock in some areas and hard to keep momentum. Those really deep ruts are the ones I don't like cause I always have my bags on. I'm with you about riding stuff like this cause it gives you confidence when you come up on something similar when on a big ride.
I think everybody has their good in their bad days where they make a mistake and they're like why did I do that 😢😂
Oh yeah. Some days I feel like I can do anything on a bike and others I feel like I should never ride again 😂
Tough trail guys! I hope to jump on the Tat one day, hopefully it's similar.
Hopefully we'll get the chance to ride the tat too. I think the western parts would be awesome.
Thats the best looking trail I have seen you guys on! Anymore than that and you would need to upgrade the rear to a Mitas E-07! 😎 - Frank
It was probably the funniest one so far. I think Timmy would disagree 😂. Motoz or Nothing 👊
FRANK !!! - Greg just kicks ass on his V - very impressive.
@@pilotdane1 thanks 👊
You guys tore it up. I hate jeep roads for the most part. First gear and under 10mph is not fun on a big bike. Yeah, ya got the felling of accomplishment by making it through rough terrain, but it's not fun to me. To each their own! That marker at the end is a marker placed by the Daughters or Sons of Confederate Veterans, usually well after internment. I've been to some ceremonies at old grave sites in the Smokies.
Thanks! I personally like is kind of riding it's a fun challenge and I just look at it as if I see something like this on a longer trip I'll be confident that I can make it through it. Thanks for the info about the grave site. We find those things pretty interesting.
Great video!
Thanks. I really appreciate it 👊
I picked up a dl1000 last year and thought it's be fun to try it off road, Had a bash plate and upgraded innards in the shocks. The tires were at @40 per cent and not good for rocks or dirt. I was alone. I went down an ancient Jeep trail that was at a pretty steep angle and there were loose fist sized boulders all over it. I ended up picking up that bike 3 times over that 200 yard stretch of road. I am not sure what the veestrom 650 weighs, but i am certain that if I never have to pick up that dl 1000 on a super steep slope with loose fist sized rocks all over it again, I'll be too soon.
It isn't fun to pick them up sometimes. We have done our fair share of it. The 650 is about 40 or lbs lighter but we usually have ours loaded down with camping gear too.
Everyone always talks about you riding a 650 you should let them know that Timmy is on a 1000 cc
Yeah most people that have been following along know that his is a 1000. He's a beast for riding it the way he does.
100%, do it however you want on whatever you want. As long as you are getting out there. What was the deal with all the cut chunks of lugs in there? Is that jeep people using them to clear obstacles? Heck of a trail ride on big bikes.
We feel the same way. It's all about getting out there and having fun and enjoying whatever it is you're doing. I would guess that's what they are for. I'm sure when it's muddy some of those hills would be a challenge. It was a good one for sure. Thanks for watching man. We really appreciate it
Don't go chasin' waterfalls!

@@jameseargle123 thanks man! We definitely appreciate it. We usually have new videos every Sunday morning at 9am ET.
I’ve been thinking about this bike vs the Tenere 700 and not sure which way to go
All just depends on what type of riding you intend to do. The T7 will be better off road even though I can keep up with them off road but it isn't as good when it comes to hwy riding. It just doesn't offer the wind protection that a V-strom does. You really can't go wrong with either though. The V-strom is cheaper when it comes to price.
What kind of tires you running on your 650? Couldn't quite understand what you were saying 😜
Motoz Tractionator Adventure. Motoz or Nothing!! 😁
@@TheBeardedGrump awesome. Thanks for the reply! Great riding. More hardcore than 95% of people would do on a Vstrom. Definitely opened my eyes to the Suzuki
@@kaseyod113 no problem. Thanks! I try my best to show what a bike that most people don't consider a capable adv bike can do. Thanks for watching and commenting. We definitely appreciate it. If you haven't already please consider subscribing and following along with us. 👊💥
Are you on stock suspension? 😄 how do you have it set up?
It was stock with a 1 inch lift. I had the preload on the forks and rear shock turned all the way down.
Where y'all from? Im from west tn and looking for other folks to ride with. Im on a vstrom also.
Upstate SC. The V-strom is a great bike. We need to get up to TN and do some riding at some point.
What language are you speaking?
Southern redneck
@@TheBeardedGrump I don't know that one. I can hardly make out a word, and have to have subbies on. And I'm a native english speaker! 🤣
Appreciate the content though. I am thinking of selling my 2016 dl650 for a dualsport like a crf300 or similar. I want to try offroad riding. Been riding 20 years on the blacktop. Thoughts?
@@nickvandernet there's probably a lot of people that can't understand my deep southern accent lol. The 650 is a great bike but if you're wanting something lighter just for off road use then the crf300 would be a good choice. I sold my 650 bought a V-strom 1000 and crashed it a little over 4 months ago and broke my back. I'm not back riding a little bit and I now own a KTM 990 Adventure. Just choose whatever bike that you think you're going to enjoy the most. As long as you're riding that's all that matters. 👊
