He made me pay special attention to the lyrics of our National Anthem. Not the English translation, but from the Malay words. E.g. "dengan semangat yang baru"... It does not feel the same as "with a new spirit". I don't know how to explain.

Singing National Anthem will never be the same after watching the new rendition. It's so soulful and very meaningful. Thank you Abang Ramli Sarip. You are really a vintage!
thank God for the malays in singapore. So much soul and character
Well said Brother!!!!
Our strength lies in all 4 major races combining together💪💪💪💪!! Malays, Indians, Eurasians and Chinese. We have come a long way. And I tend to notice in the past 2 decades, that amongst us, we tend to treat fellow brothers of the other race better than the people of the same👋😄!!! E.g. a Malay will talk up a Chinese much more cordially and respectful, and vice versa!!!! In the coffeeshop, in the clinics, in the supermarkets 😄😄😄... That shows how much we value and appreciate one another.
We move on with our combined strength.
We are now, stronger and more united as one people💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪, than other countries with homogeneity (one race)!!!!!!! We have come a long way and we go from strength to strength.
Warmest Regards to all Brothers and Sisters of Singapore.
I now do not regard myself as "Chinese", my race is:
🇸🇬🤗Singaporean.
I ve been listening it for like many many times and it still gives me goosebump... kudos to the legendary papa rock for giving us such a moving rendition...majulah Singapura... 🥰

This version made my eyes teary... never felt so good about the anthem before. :)
Yesterday i was at the padang...while he sang the national anthem..all of us sang along n i kinda feel touched n i actually teared.
Salute to Ramly Sarip.... If only the the composer Late Subir Said is still alife he will be proud
Finally I have a firmer understanding of the national anthem. Unlike other national anthems that have firm and strong rhythms that evoke a sense of bravado and feelings of awe, our national anthem is actually very spiritual, haunting and folksy. And think about it, that is indeed who we are. Spirit binds a loosely connected society and the folk is a reminder of our humble beginnings as a fishing village. I never felt more proud being a Singaporean. Thank you Ramli Sarip.
users79 Well said. But you should thank Zubir Said first before thanking Ramli Sarip.
CNA pls pin this comment
Truly singing from the heart :)
Even though it was an audio playback, they stood up. #respect
Thank you.
Many Sporeans weren’t proud of the National Anthem until today. Definitely some Malay folk accents in this rendition. We need to make this the updated official National Anthem.
Brilliant Ramli, your rendition - Nothing comes close. Everybody would dare sing it - (shy special, young, old )
Very soulful! Thank you, it’s so moving. So much emotion in the rendition. You Sir are now a LEGEND.
I never knew our National Anthem can be so soulful...Ramli Sarip has done it. I wish all Singaporeans could sing with as much soul as he had done.
Greetings from Malaysia. Fortunately I understand both Malay and English, and feel that the nuances of the Malay version will never be able to be fully perceived in the English translation, until Papa Rock fully expressed it in his performance, so that the sublimeness can be felt until it touches you within the core of your being!
Delivering message not juz singing. Open our ears and understand the whole meaning
Mr Ramli Sarip has my greatest respect. Rendition Majulah Singapura yang terhebat! Amazing!
👏👏👏👍👍! He looks very Cool in his attire too😎😎! Love it!
When I was young, I just sing. Now, ..... I understand more. Same for many Singaporeans I will say, even Chinese race like me who dun understand Malay but somehow know what the National Anthem lyrics meant. As you grow older, you come to appreciated the National Anthem more.
I know the singapura /singapore/Temasek nathional anthem song since first time i visit singapore on 2005 when i was still studying. Greating from Indonesia
Yes. I agree. Especially when I go for Malay class at cc. The first lesson is to understand our national anthem. In fact we know many Malay words n we are using in without knowing.
Sincerely frm the heart touches the sincere hearts 🇸🇬
Our National Anthem "Majulah Singapura" sing from the heart understanding the meaning soulfully is a prayers actually....Singapore is Blessed n God's willing continue to be Blessed. Ameen.
What a beautiful rendition indeed!
Because of this rendition by Ramli Sarip, it has made us Singaporeans and listeners around the world to pay more attention to the lyrics.
With that, we understand the Singapore National Anthem more and it is really deep.

Mr Ramli Sarip, thank you for a soulful national anthem 😂. I hope you are in NDP 2021 soon!
Tuan Ramli, saya orang Malaysia, tapi your rendition telah buat saya rasa patriotik ke negara lain. Like, whutttttt!
Alangkah chantek kalau Negaraku dapat dibawa dengan rendition oleh Tuan tanpa ada apa² kontroversi berlaku...
Setiap negara ada keistimewaan dm lagu kebangsaan negara mereka
I wanna meet him in person. 😭😭😭
He has a restaurant at haji lane.. He is there sometimes
He is the best
Majulah singapura
Pak Rock. Majulah!!! Hormat!!! ...tapi di blakang, waktu show has come to an END...all Male with Long Hair will (be) Serve Last...
Remember the 70s??? KITARO was ban from performing because he refuses to cut his hair...
Pak Ramli, you were RESERVED to serve Last...
... once again, HORMAT for a Moving Rendition that only a Mat Rock can do in the National Language
Terima kasih for the info
I first saw his band "Sweet Charity" way back in 1974 when they performed at Pasir Ris Beach. That time it was an ulu place. His voice reminded me of Rod Stewart and I started following their music. I remembered my elder brother who didnt like his voice and used to laugh at me for buying their albums. Well, today my brother is guilt for sharing Ramli's rendition of Majulah Singapura on social media ..haha
Is Ramli related to Malaysia Home Affair minister? Some similarity in his face feature.
Baru tahu ramli sarip org Singapore
I like u
me2💕
LOL Papa Rock forgets to stand up when the other 2 DJs are standing for the anthem.
ha ha ha ayah excuse pa pa rock lah
Berseruuuuuu!
Hahaha
He didn't stand up during the anthem. That's how much he believes in his shit! He was sitting rather than flying
All the ang mo gai occupying the radio stations.
Nda bisa bahasa enggres
I don't get it, to me his singing is like normal only, just more drama
This one is so helpless n designated on the NDP . It seems like an elderly so out of breath n designated.
Change athem to this now
The NDP 2019 song. He just went "OH OHHH OH OHH OH". Thats it. LOL
sedih tengok singapura hmm
Never realised this ramli sarip is from singapore.. All this while he was 'cari makan' in M'sia so naturally thought he's a M'sian..looks like he can't survive in SG..
Ya me too thought hes from Malaysia!,Wouldnt it be better for him to compose lagu in malay here than in sg?
Personally I thought it was very solemn. For ND esp our Bicentennial the national anthem should be more joyful
May Tan he didn’t compose that. It’s our National Anthem.
Looks like you like to assume alot. Nothing wrong to cari makan elsewhere. He has established himself in SG long ago. Not about can't survive.
@@aizat5b but its true. musicians cant survive in singapore. esp local artistes...its a fact
Xingapoaaaa...daaa
