Lyrics
Floating on mist
Crept up the caverns of my brain
Received no warning
From nothing to a life code
Walk with me, you'll never leave
Wait to see your spirit free
Tell me how your heart's in need
As I drown you in the sea
Unwinding snares of distrust
Your wrist in my fast grip
Look me in the eye, I'm clear
This is your time
Face down beneath the waterline
Gazing into the deep
From love to death
In a time span of seconds
Oblivious to regret
Pushed into belief
In liquid cellophane
Gasping for air
Mercy in my eyes
Is the shade of the night
The piercing sounds you make
Soaring higher, higher now
And once left in my wake
Your memory's nothing but the scars on me
All over now
Forgotten why I needed this
Standing down
Disappear into the obscure
Resting days
Waiting for new disease
Biding time
Locked inside insanity
It always burns within
The downward spiral never ends
When driven into sin
Your salvation's found in a sinners deed
The devil guides the way
Tells me what to say
Pours himself inside
And snuffs the final light
Deliverance
Thrown back at me
Deliverance
Laughing at me
Did anyone else grow up just lying around and listening to this mastery in awe with goosebumps and sheer amazement? I didn’t need drugs, I had Opeth.
I did need drugs, and Opeth.

Well, I was twenty when this came out. I bought the CD the same day that I bought Nile's 'Black Seeds of Vengeance'. The Nile album was fine, but I never listened to it, because I was always listening to this.
Agreed. I got a natural high out of Opeth.
I've spent alot of time on buses just meditating to Opeth stoned. Honestly amazing high or not.
i think these remixed versions are cool because ive listened to every one of their songs a thousand times over so it's nice to have a little difference to them. either way Opeth is amazing
They sound better tbh
No metal band has better balanced the extremely heavy + death growls with the softer side. ❤️
Soen does it incredibly well too, but Opeth is Opeth.
@@explosivx43 Soen doesn't have any death growls. I'm not even sure Joel can do a death metal growl.
@@blppt lol idk what i was smoking when I said that. Yeah you're right, but they're still incredible
Agalloch does it well too.
System of a down, fear factory, btbam
Such an amazing outro
And intro, and everything in between, and opeth, and leather jackets
hello rengar you listening to opeth too
Let's face it, this is just an incredible track that each of us will remember for many many years....🔥
Forever!
Always.
There are 2 kinds of people in the world.
Those who LOVE OPETH, & those who have yet to hear OPETH.
Damn that outro is insane
That outro is brilliant, addictive!!!!!
Dat ending though... that reverse attack piano is a phantastic addition! Just two chords, but they add so much atmosphere to the rest... really love this version! ❤
It was like listening to the song for the first time again. The chills and goosebumps all over again. Well done!
It feels like I’m hearing this song for the first time again! It’s such a nice, wide mix! And the wet/dry on the solo is literally perfect 👌 nice one b o i z
Will you tell me the difference? I think I got a bad ear/earphone !
@Zedrik Allen okay! let's listen again!
Drums are too quiet in the drone section 10:40 especially compared to original
The cd version of this remix is fine. The surround mix is where it really shines. It's one of my favorite 5.1 mixes of theirs. It's definitely a new experience all together.
Давайте признаем, это просто невероятный трек, который каждый из нас будет помнить многие многие годы....🔥
Agreed
I like it a lot! It sounds like a real metal band.
This the best ever song from opeth
Masterpiece
Thank you for uploading this! Wanted to hear what the remix sounds like. Definitely a must-buy, drums finally fill out the song.
Rohann van Rensburg not to mention the bass and vocals and guitar all being both more loud and clear
Double bass is muffled af
Whoa. Everything sounds amazing. What a treat.
I like how crisp the brass sounds, but I hate how the double bass got muffled together - the intro here really doesn't have the same power as the original.
Brass?
@@bertberw8653 You are right when you refer to the original but you have to kick out the idea and just appreciating the work. I too, prefer originals song, just to say. It's required a different state of mind :)
@@Chococacaooo Excuse me, what?
@@bertberw8653 forget it, my english is too bad
This is a thread full of misunderstandings, just if you all know.
ahhh good times Opeth. Glad that you guys made this...
Perfect! The sub frequencies attained with the bass drum mix adds body to the spectral mood of the song. The kicks are implicit more than explicit, boasting the song to another level. No so much attack as modern mixes, but perfect for the overall mood of the song.
Good job with the drums and the rest of the mix in as well.
There is some amazing drumming on this album, not to mention songwriting. The weak point was definitely the production so thanks for the remix
Well, it sounds huge now
Life has a NEW meaning AGAIN, sounds incredible! bighugs from VENEZUELA!
I thought there wasn't internet in Venezuela... Good for you hermano
como siempre ustedes sorprendiendo que limpieza de sonidos increíble mi Opeth
This mix sounds slightly sibilant, but it's got better soundstage and instrument separation
I honestly prefer the original version, because I've listened to it so many times any slight change is a huge difference to me. I think the OG has a more solid, classic vibe to it.
Yeah I feel like this this remix takes too much of the original's mood and personality away.
@@Lurts agreed
People complaining about the bass drum... That's how drums sound! Not like typewriter samples
XD
I guess the original recording was played with two typewriters taped to Lopez's feet then
@@toprak3479 The drum "performance" is the same on both versions but in the original they either triggered or heavily compressed, EQ'd and gated the bass drum. In this remix they used a more natural sound from the mics (less attack and more low-end)
@@DaveGOfield Maybe it's because I heard the original first but I like the punchier sound of the typewriters.
@@toprak3479 Yes, it cuts through the mix better, I usually prefer natural sounding drums but in this case I admit the fast double bass parts sound a little messy... there was no need for a remix, the original sounds just fine.

I just found out that the remix of Deliverance was done by Bruce Soord. Opeth's got all kinds of amazing prog rock musicians mixing and remixing their music. Holy shit.
oh my opeth Love you 😍😍
waiting for remixed MAYH
I kind of feel like that record sounds the way it should, maybe more so than this one did originally. It has a bit more of a black metal bite to it, whereas this one sounded thin.
MAYH has to sound the way it sounds.
There is nothing on that album that could possibly be better.
I kinda disagree.
For example, Orchid sounds perfect, Morningrise a little bit weak, and My Arms Your Hearse, I don't know, the whole thing sounds so compressed and satured. It still sounds good in its own way (I'm actually ok with it), but the production has always been not too great for me.
@@TheAskald The demon of the fall outro is much better live.
Some good, some bad here, but it's hard to get everything right, I suppose. Low end suffers quite a bit. Bass is quite muffled and the kick is more of a suggestion but everything else sounds great. Highs are crisp and sizzly and the guitars have a very satisfying crunch. They did an amazing job with the vocals, and I like how wide the mix is now.
I suppose it would be tempting to see what could be done with the new technologies on the old recordings... but... I dunno.
It doesn't feel the same.
It's deliverance, but like, BLEACHED.
I'm not a musical genius like Mikeal so what do I know?
When are you guys remastering Orchid?
Done in 2016 bro, buy the remaster
That and Morningrise need a complete remake I believe.
@@ahmeteminerdogan9266 They have to rewrite some acoustic passages that seem out of place in the first 3 albums

Badass drums!
DELIVER ME
En todos los millones de comentarios nadie analizá y agradece su gran mensaje en la letra.
I don't get why people can't hear the bass drum? I'm partially deaf and I can hear it just fine.
I like it
I love everything but the bass drum, it has very little thud to it, and in fast metal, a bit of thud gives the whole song a better feel. Just a bit more brightness to it would make it better
Breaks up more on high volume than the original mix, therefore obsolete for headbanging madness purposes.
Dam fine writing here.........
This mix sounds more modern to me, I don't know why. Possibly because I just came from listening to Soen's new album. 🤷 Talk about mixing the bass down to just a warm suggestion...
But this version of Deliverance sounds... richer than the original, I think.
amazing!!!!!
Were the gutturals meant to be panned left and right? I never noticed that in the original track
still life needs a heavy remix
I don't know... I like the original more than this... Oh, well...
yeah......I can never choose this over the original..
thumbs up if you dont like the new mix on the whole deliverance album
Feelin lonely ? :)
I think i know what you mean. Alot of specific dynamics has been lost in the new mix. This new mix seems more rock oriented than metal. But i think only really trained metal ear will understand ha
@@vomitilias 100% agree
bam bam bam ba
Bam bam bam ba
The overall mix is fun but the kick drum is killing me, sounds "too natural" for what I'm used in a metal context, specially in those fast double kicks. Too much body and no attack. It sounds really good on A Fair Judgement though.
what happens on 5:02 ?
Ohhhhhh my satan
I like the fullness but the drums seem wrong to me. The outro suffers from the low-attack kick.
I made a version where I stack both original mix and this mix
Drums feel isolated. Such a good song though.
Hail Martin Lopez 💞
Funny that Mike is an Atheist but his music makes me believe in God.
Why did they remix this? I thought original mix by Andy Sneap was pretty fine.
sounds like this has more bass, not sure tho
clear voices... sounds better, also its clearly hearing the 320bps in the drum and guitars sound better too
The original sounded really thin in comparison. You can hear the fullness of Mikael's voice, the subtlety of guitar expressions and effects, and the drums fill out what they're supposed to a round out the song properly. You can actually hear things like cymbals and delay now. After hearing this, the original sounds tinny. Not to say the mix was bad for its time mind you, but 15 years later this sounds solid.
This sounds a lot fatter
This mix brings out the drums ALOT more than the original.
Sounds cleaner but slower
Agreed

Is there a version of the song with only the melodic parts? No screaming and metal parts?
nope, but there is a whole album with only melodic tracks, composed/produced alongside this one. Check out the "Damnation"-album by Opeth. Awesome mellow sounds.
The drums are much clearer, but the high end is fucking killing my ears, and everything sounds way hollower to me. Not as bad as the recent Blind Guardian remixes, though, those things sound like shit.
yeh blind guardian sounds like shit, i give you that xD
The drums are way too quiet on this version. Thats my only complaint.
What kind of setup/earphones do you have? 🤔
Sound loud enough to me. Were the drums in the original mix louder?
Sounds way better than the original
No way, you can barely separate any of the instruments in this mix, the drums sound all muddy, the bass is turned up to 11 and drowns everything else out. This is one of the worst remixes I've ever heard
Well not for me, I repeat It sounds great to me, I'm sorry you're disappointed tho
Well I'm glad you're enjoying it at least
Huh? Maybe you need better speakers? This sounds light and day more clear on studio monitors. I can hear his vocals properly, I can hear guitar crunchiness, delay, etc. The drums don't sound like someone tapping on a wooden desk, I hear cymbals I never heard before, etc.
Rohann van Rensburg You described perfectly the feeling I get from listening to the double bass in the original record
Not necessarily the biggest fan of Andy Sneap, but the metal parts on his original mix sounded way better. Also the cymbals here sound a bit trashy
...and I thought moanings were the most satisfying things to hear. Fuck I love Opeth.
Original outro sounds much better
berserk
I can’t hear the bass drum at all.
get some new headphones dude

Getting it illegally. Hope you guys won't mind. Love from India
it's not really shocking though
Half of the total music downloads are illegal. It's not like it is a big shock nowadays
Man this mix isn't great, the automations are rushed, the intro guitar sounds less powerful and the wetness of the vox isn't working
I've a hard time listening to this remix. Dont like the sound at all,
compared to the original. This sound so synthetic and lacks the depth
and mysteri that the original have = ) I mean its a studio album, its not supposed to sound live. It should capture the muscially feeling, just look at the album cover on the original, its dark.
bass drum sounds shitty, toms sound great
That shit delay makes it sound like mixed by a teenager.
I dont like this remix as much as the original
Not a fan of this version.
The original mix is better in my opinion.
