S4:E09 | DAN basically makes the safety rules for Scuba Divers, & the Dive industry follows

Divers Alert Network’s (DAN) marketing director Steve Jamroz gives us a peek behind the curtain at the world’s most famous Scuba organization. ‪@DiversAlertNetworkTV‬ helps develop treatments, preventions, best practices and insurance for diving related accidents, illnesses, and losses.
They research prevention on everything from equipment safety to Decompression Sickness (DCS), as well as training techniques.
DAN also has a free Medical Services department you can call anytime to ask about potential conditions that could prevent you from diving, or guidance for your own doctor when they may be unfamiliar with diving-specific health considerations.
Steve and Kenny have a casual discussion about life at the DAN organization, workplace culture, marketing their product, and of course, the DEMA after-parties they’ve become famous for.

DAN needs to keep working on their insurance offerings. Quite frankly I lost a tremendous amount of faith in DAN with how they responded to the situation with Woody Alpern of Dive Talk when he had his emergency in the Abaco Islands. If I found myself in that same situation I likely would have died or been seriously injured. Honestly I don’t know to what extent or even if DAN can be counted on to help.

DAN has the opportunity to step up and fix this problem. It will say a lot about who they are. So I am taking a wait and see attitude at this point.

I think that DAN should stick with what they are doing. Besides, the other agencies aren't going anywhere, and one more would be anti productive on the insurance side.
