I LOVE Michael Jai White and listening to him talk about fighting - and he is such a pro with these fight scenes. But I must say I'm impressed by your acting and shooting - you did just a ridiculously good job!
He has a very high fight IQ and a sharp eye for details like a fighter's rhythm. Although most people can attest to the importance of not telegraphing your strikes, I found his explanation of people not being able to judge distance from the front pretty eye opening, and it makes sense when you start to think of taillights in the back of cars for example. Also, engaging the hips at the last second really helps you understand how to both train for and apply the concept in your training, since most fighters' muscle memory is already adapted to doing the opposite. Edit: spelling
My wife outshot me her first time shooting. I'm a law enforcement and military veteran with Expert medals. It was embarrassing, but I was proud of her as well. I know she has MY back. lol. P.S. I love how down-to-Earth Mr. White is. I have always wanted to meet him. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely love Michael Jai White, he is 100% legit Martial Artist. Jesse, I'm envious your encounters with some real legends, love your vids, keep it up!
The concept he's explaining at 4:00 also appears very often in HEMA. In European swordsmanship, one very common theme is that the hands move before any other part of the body, be it the hips or shoulders or legs or anything. By initiating the actual attack itself (even just milliseconds) before putting the rest of your body into it, you can cut down telegraphing by a mountain. It's always funny how much all martial arts share in basic body mechanics.
Yeah its very interesting. I had teachers both in Wing Chun and Boxing teaching this, what can be difficult though is to apply it with as much force, as its generally easier to develop force if you make use of your body momentum first. Thats one of the reasons why many teachers of Wing Chun emphasizes many strikes, especially on weak/critical points, using before mentioned principal.
so funny seeing this comment. HEMA is what lead me to be interested in martial arts as a whole, trying to take elements from all styles and blend it into my fencing. i found one of sensei seth's videos on the subject which lead over to jesse. love when i see someone in the squad being the camera man for other people too. it's like a little cinematic universe easter egg.
very good video! I saw almost all of MIchael Jai White's films when I was a child, without a doubt a great teacher, his techniques will remain forever in the cinema and in my book! greetings!
Jesse was comedic and pretty good on camera with his acting. You just acted with a movie star and handled martial arts choreography so well. I hope you realize that, I’m in shock man, what can’t you do 😂👏
I was... Emotionally happy after this episode. You two had a crazy good chemistry. I would watch a full movie/show with you two. Next - Joe Rogan. I have a feeling it would be educational, funny, and scary.
Turning the hips AFTER the punch is remarkable simple yet never thought of. What an awesome suggestion. That and the half way punch kick follow through with the punch is just awesome. Thank you for the video! One day I hope to meet / train under MJW!
MJW will always be one of my role models when it comes to discipline, dedication to craft and martial arts. The combination of muscle, flexibility and speed is something one can only dream of. A living legend without a shadow of a doubt.
MJW’s humility despite phenomenal martial arts capability, (he has reached instructor level in no fewer than 9, YES NINE, martial arts), is astonishing. He casually demonstrates techniques that would easily overwhelm a competent and experienced Karate Master, (in the guise of Jesse Enkamp), smiling and joking casually as he does so. O-Sensei White, we at the CKJU Kai salute you! OSS! 🙇🏽♂️ 🙇♀️ 🙇🏻
Jai's teaching at 4:20 seems obvious, but it is exceptionally true and real: our eyes will never be able to assess the speed of a direct punch to the face, which is easier to be surprised by than hooks etc. I know Jai very well as actor and MMA fighter, though I did never expect him to also be such a skilled fighting teacher, easy to understand! Love you Jai🥰
I just love how you show in your videos the way you adapt to different experiences using your KARATE training as your basis. (In this case, handling guns). Much respect for Mr. Enkamp. 🙏🙏
Man Jesse this was a really fun video, and it’s really dope you got to kick it with Michael Jai White. His technique is incredible. Peace love and martial arts ✊🏾
MJW is one of those people you can't really understand how or why they didn't have a stellar career and got A-listed. For his younger years he had the looks, he has a great voice, presence, excellent moves. Similar issue with Scott Adkins, both of them should be up there starring in Marvel movies or I dunno, but earning the big $$$ and being world-famous.
Not hard to understand at all. He's not willing to sell his soul and forsake his morals for it. For some people they're content where they are and could careless about all of the fame and fortune. Pretty simple.
This is such a great video. I'm even more impressed by Jesse Enkamp than I was before. I've been waiting so long for an in-depth dissertation of what it truly is to choreograph a good fight or fight scene. I have studied the works of the greatest action directors to ever choreograph fight scenes. Lau Kar Leung/Liu Chia Liang, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Wo Ping,Tang Chia, Prachya Pinkaew, Ching Siu Tung, and others. I've always appreciated Michael Jai White's fight scenes and absolutely relish in hearing and seeing his coaching other fighters because he explains, in perfect detail, the technique or execution he is demonstrating. Also the conditions that are ideal for the technique or cause the adaptation/adjustment made. I didn't know that he had that much insight and vision for directing fight scenes. From rare nuances to practical applications of what captures the energy, the power, the speed, the technicality, the impulsiveness, the physicality, hard work, mastery, spirit, the justification or the audacity, the heroism or the cruelty, the passion, and most importantly, the emotion of not just the actors, but of the scene itself. Anyone who wants to choreograph fight scenes should absolutely watch this video. And give Michael Jai White the recognition that he's obviously worked for his entire life. He is truly fantastic. Plus, anyone who studies martial arts, particularly karate, should know who Jesse Enkamp is. He is genuinely a martial artist and, in my opinion, an excellent teacher. Jesse, if you happen to read this: This was a GREAT video, man. It also looked like it was an amazing experience for you. Awesome to see! Thank you.

If you are old or you have injuries in ur shoulders, dont use that way of punching, It's like doing benchpress badly, u gonna suffer later.
Maybe your wife is a secret agent or something 😂
Mine too. I've been in the industry for multiple decades. My wife was anti gun so I took her to the range where she proceeded to show me skills that neither of us knew she had. Shes not anti gun anymore.
Women shoot better than men statically. They get back on target faster because they are a smaller lever to push, as they are usually shorter.
Its always awesome seeing content that no one asks for but everyone wants to see. You keep surprising us with these unexpected crossovers.
Wow this just made me realize how lovable MJW is! Great man and great spirit.
This is one of the most fun wholesome Martial Arts video ever, Michael Jae White is definitely a Martial Arts Master with all that knowledge, he even taught Jesse Gun-Fu at the end and he's a natural.
I've already made low-budget films here in Brazil, the question of telegraphing the blows is fundamental.
Wonderful scene of him hiding the attacks to explain the difference between reality and the movie!
Cool!
That's awesome man
You know the technique is going to be good when Michael says “Now don’t let me hit you..”
Man is a legend, love the guy
He trained Kimbo slice with that during Blood n Bone
Gr8 work, Jesse. I'm so glad MJW was up for this video. He's a gentleman 👌🏼🥋
Jesse playing the "hood" character almost killed me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So I was waiting for like two months, thinking that Jesse Sensei has forgotten about us, and then he brings us this gem... one word: YES!!! Keep up the good work!!! :D
Michael is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Honestly don't know how he is not a bigger star in Hollywood. He has a great personality he can act he sincere and he can pull off even the craziest fights. So glad you and him you and him hooked up.
Because he is a genuine dude that doesn't suck cock or do politics.
Wow! I think it's the best video fight i never seen on youtube! Thanks Jesse! I really LOVE Michael Jai White and after this video i had the confirmation that this love is well justified. I think it's time to see some opportunity to make some movies Jesse! Good Job!
This is the kind of content that RUclips is for. Quality, fun and teaching at the same time
MJW is a true martial artist, no matter how much someone has learned most people can still learn a lot from him.
bunnysabeni8173,Sure
I’m so jealous you got to hang out with Michael Jay white.
I’ve admired the guy since my teens. He’s an incredible martial artist.
I have to say - of all martial arts guys I know of, he’s probably one of the ones I’d hate to fight.
Absolutely love Michael Jai White, he is 100% legit Martial Artist. Jesse, I'm envious your encounters with some real legends, love your vids, keep it up!
I feel like Mr. White is the most under rated martial artist of all time. His technique is crisper than Sunday morning's toast
He also is a former special education teacher
@@tashadent150I didn't know that 😮 my respect for him just went up even more. 🫡
Man does kyokushin so you know he's about those hands
But he is also just a super nice muscle bound giant
Love this video. All Michael Jai White's appearances are so down-to-earth. It's crazy how many of the toughest actors are actually the nicest guys.
Cool!
It’s crazy how many martial arts teach the same things in a different way
Almost like we're all bi-pedal humanoids or something
very good video!
Thank you Jorge!! 😄
The fact that MJW can punch and kick at that insane speed with such an insane amount of muscle mass is insane
And at 53. Damn man.

actually, I am surprised by Michael's light spirit. I loved the video. Thank you, Jesse, Michael, and all behind the cameras
Turning the hips AFTER the punch is remarkable simple yet never thought of. What an awesome suggestion. That and the half way punch kick follow through with the punch is just awesome. Thank you for the video! One day I hope to meet / train under MJW!
You are so welcome Brian!
MJW will always be one of my role models when it comes to discipline, dedication to craft and martial arts. The combination of muscle, flexibility and speed is something one can only dream of. A living legend without a shadow of a doubt.
I don’t think I’ve ever clicked a video faster
Speed kills 😎💥👍
I've really respected Michael Jai White for many years now, but this is my first time seeing just how cool and down-to-earth he really is
When you know you are bad, you can just let yourself be you…humble, gentle, loving, kind, considerate, free, and happy. Thank you, Jesse!
Well said!
2 legends just enjoying themselves. This warms my heart as a retired martial artist
OSS! 🙇🏽♂️ 🙇♀️ 🙇🏻
That was honestly one of the most entertaining videos I’ve seen in a long time. I would watch a whole series with Jesse and Mike. 😂 Great Job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You two need a series together. That was amazing.
The ability to not show your kicks until the last second in Kyokushin is what I love about it.
They probably refused to take it in the a55 like many of their more famous overrated colleagues.
@@MrSilksoul well said 💯
He not a sell out
@@MrSilksoul facts and he's definitely not wearing a dress
MJW is a really chilled out guy what a great joy to watch both of you.
Thank you.
ALWAYS GREAT TO SEE MJW "BEHIND THE SCENES" ALWAYS MAKES US LEARN
3:05 ICONIC W KIMBOSLICE
9:00 EAT WITH A PURPOSE
I grew up with Mike and he is actually one of my instructors, he even supports me when I go to speak at schools and he is an awesome dude and very supportive when it comes to our youth
That was really great! How cool it must have been to hang out with Michael! Great job shooting for your first time as well!
Not only is Micheal a beast and super underrated, he also seems like a legit nice guy.
