Yeah man, it's pretty simple. The audio from the two Volcas is just running into my soundcard on my computer, feeding into the audio in of Quicktime, then just using a logictech c920 webcam. So it's all just recorded into Quicktime, then I might do a little post production on the video and audio.
That keys melody is great, I really like this. This clip was one of the ones that got me sold on trying the volcas. I have the FM, Keys, and Drum now, and getting Sample next. That should do me. I have other stuff, but I think that Volca combo is pretty sufficient for what I want from them.
Really! I was looking for someone doing a live jam with volca like that for a lot of time! How do you made that subbass sensation ? with volca keys? Greetings from Brazil!
Essentially the drum sequencer layer is controlling a bunch of samples I made in the Volca Sample, then the sequencer layer is controlling the Volca Keys. Simple as that. Obviously I spent quite a lot of time making decent samples and loops for the Volca Sample.
Hello, First of all congrats for the great work right here… If I can ask you, can you please explain me how you control the sample and the keys without problems?!? I have the same setup, but when I connect the beatstep pro to the volca sample and the volca bass … there’s something I doing wrong… Because the channels 1to 10 goes to the Sampler, than the channel 11 i put to the bass, However when e play the pad number one on the drum part (sampler) also the bass sounds… The same happens when I play the bass, the channel 11, when played sound also the channel 1… What kind of midi box are you using??? I’m going crazy thing to find the problem for this… Thank you in advance Cheers
That kick is massive and I love this jam, yet I think somehow sidechaining the saw lead to the kick so it's not as overpowering would have made it even better :p
That would be cool, but not really possible with this set up since the Volca Sample has only one stereo output! Plus it's dawless so I'd need a hardware compressor 😂
Hello, how do you control the volca bass?I can't play it or do a sequence, is there a special parameter on the volca? I'm on the same midi channels.Good job , i love the sound and your bass sequence.
Awesome mate, very inspiring. I am about to start building my own setup exactly like this... volca bass, sample, keys and beatstep. Any recommendations on what to get first? Where does the beat step record to? Love this!!!!
How did you configure this set up? I tried it using the one video i found but couldnt access the editing capabilities of the sample. If you could let know how you did it, that would be great. Excellent jam, btw.
Hey Charles. I'm triggering the the Volca Sample with the drum layer of the Beatstep Pro, each pad is set the required MIDI channel. For this video I made all my own samples and loaded them onto the Volca Sample with the software.
Thanks! The Beatstep is connected to the Volca with a MIDI cable, using the MIDI adapter that comes with it. You can just connect the Beatstep to your DAW via USB
Weird question: If I have my BeatStep connected to a PC with USB and also connected to a Volca via MIDI, whatever I play on BeatStep ->Volca will be represented and recorded into my DAW?
Space Kid: I’m stuck too - I’ve got 4 volcas and a MIDI thru box but I’m not getting the results I think I should be... my beatstep is hooked up to fl studio but if I want to sync fl studio and my volcas they’re out of time... anyone got a clue? Thanks
love the video and your music. but i would like to see if possible how they are all connected, and if there is any slave mode to get things going. because i cant find one video that will show this.. everyone is just jamming and showing that it can be done, and i have been finagling with my volcas and beatstep and cannot get the beatstep to play the sounds of the volca. ahhhhhhhhh...............
So it is safe to use Y splitter (2 devices) rather than thru box. I've read more than 3 on a star splitter weakens the voltage? Edit: my bad, that's the USB power cable.
I believe if you have more complex MIDI data and more channels then yes, there can be issues. But for sending notes to two synth, it works fine. Never an issue.
Great jam! Does the BSP work with the sample via midi out of the box? My Sample uses a different midi channel for each step. Are you able to trigger each sample step on the the volca sample using BSP through one midi channel?
@@wendyslittleprogram3984 Because the Beatstep is a much more flexible sequencer with a lot of extra features. Also the Volca's sequencers are tiny, not ideal for live use!
Nicely done. How are you sending two signals to the volca keys? Do you have the keys running its own sequence then are you sending a different signal in poly mode?
midi splitter or using a simple headphone splitter. Can be used to connect multiple Volcas for MIDI and or clock distribution ruclips.net/video/ZABPk5lds68/видео.html
Wow! Great work man! I love this Jam and i sent my subscribe to your channel! A question... How It's work? In particular, who is the clock? Arturia or an external (ableton for istance) or other? I'm looking for a volca but, before buy, i want to understand how i can put this Into my set! Thanks for your reply and if you want, visit my channel! Cheers!
Hey, thanks man! There no external gear apart from what you see. I have a midi y split cable from the beatstep going into the volca keys and sample which are receiving midi clock info from the beatstep. Pretty simple set up but effective :)
No such thing as a stupid question. There's only one MIDI out from the Beatstep so I'm using a splitter cable to send the MIDI data where it needs to go.

BeatStep Pro + Volca rig is such great value for money. And you've clearly taken the time to learn these boxes. Cheers, great jam!
Love jamming with volcas 💚💚💚💛💛💛❤❤❤✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Super demo session. Awaiting delivery of a Beatstep Pro. Love that deep drum base!
I don't think you realize this video is a life goal for me.
Just bought a BeatStep Pro; let's learn this.
Ah thanks man, that's really cool to hear. Get at it, have fun.
How’s it all working out? Thinking to use the beatstep with 3 or 4 volcas...
Sounds great!!
Cheers dude! Be sure to check some of my recent videos for more techno action!
Cool track. I like the variations you have used on all three devices!
love the setup, nice tunes 🥳
This is amazingly good ❤️
Eh, I just discovered the BeatStep Pro exists a few hours ago, thinking about buying one. Really enjoyed what you created.
Impressive. There Sounds match perfectly
Nice work 👏👏👏

If you get the Sample make sure you upgrade it with Pajen's unofficial firmware! Really updates the device in a big way.

Sorry for noob question, but can you make whole songs via midi with Beatstep Pro? Save pattern chains, songs etc?
Does the drum sequencer work with the volca sample?
Yeah, if you update the BSP to the newest firmware it spits out each pad on a seperate MIDI channel.

Use the midi channel 11 to 16 for the volca key or other machines and 1 to 10 midi chanel for volca sample
Does the beatstep pro allow you to have more than 16 steps when using volcas?
Yes, you can have up to 64 steps

A firmware update on the Beatstep Pro allows it to send drums on 16 diff MIDI channels.
BEST JAM... delivered to Russia :)
can you explain how you conect all?
I used the MIDI breakout cable that comes with the BSP, then used a MIDI Y-Split cable to connect each of the Volcas.
Hi , can you please tell me , did you connect both korgs to arturia via midi by adapter? cause I can only see a wire midi out , what is above ?
I used a MIDI y-split adapter.
Bro I want to be like you. YOu are getting those beats from the volca sample?
Yes but I loaded my own samples.
Do you have any insight / suggestion on sites with rad fat drum techno samples like the one you are using in this song??? would much appreciate.

Hi, are you using the retro kits cable, or has the firmware update made them not necessary? Just got my BSP and am confused. :)
Hey, latest firmware makes it no longer necessary. You can set the MIDI channel of individual pads on the drum sequencer
Josh Hutton Nice, thanks!
Does it allow chromatic sequencing though?
i've set all the pads to different channels for the Sample (3-13), but it's triggering. Any thoughts?@@patientzero4889
