what I wouldn't give to apprentice under you. you are super concise in explaining.. you don't take all day or sit and complain about everybody's electronics work being inferior to yours.
Thanks for the lesson on microsoldering, the first time I rip the component and pad off the board this week. I saw your method to wiggle the component. this method worked for me this evening. Good thing this is on a practice board I now learning to work with smds. Thanks Justin I will continue to watch more of your videos.
Justin ur the man brother, I'm a veteran tattoo artist /hobbyist, I fly drones amd frying the flight controllers I decided to learn how to fix them, I have watched so many videos and no one says the temp or air flow on the hot air gun , I'm currently replacing the hdmi jack on the Xbox one s , but removing it I tore off like 5 pads , so I'm working on repairing it , but video has brought on a whole new way to go about it for me , thanks man , keep up the good work

However not having the right equipment for microsoldering has held me back alot so I have recently bought myself a cheaper microsoldering microscope and other equipment to hopefully help me on my microsoldering journey and repair things that I previously couldent repair.

You know, I made a thermal assist video back in October but never released it because i felt like it wasn't the quality it could have been. I need to revisit it. Its a good technique to share, for sure. Ill def move it up on the list to make =D
This video speaks to me. I was able to remove some capacitors from a board, which appeared to be shorted. Determined these caps were NOT shorted, so started putting them back in place. Hot air station blew a few caps right out of my tweezers' grip. I'm also having trouble with my tweezers getting soldered to the part, when planting them with the hot air. I'm going to try your method!

Would it make sense to clean off the pad with a soldering wick before applying leaded solder as a best practice? Or are you not worried about mixing metals leading to corrosion?
I've found soldering to be very fun to me. What exactly do you have to do/study to get into this field and find jobs doing these sort of things? like soldering, messing with PCB's and doing repairs. Electronics Engineering?
Honestly brother, just gota love what you do, there really are only schools for this hosted by other repair shops, nothing really at a college level, While and EE degree will help for sure, you will find out pretty quick that you will probably see better opportunities $$ wise with those creds =) I do this because im passionate about it. =)

you should advertise , fixing Mercedes Fobs , I seen one guy making fortune repair those Fobs , Most case their Coils has been get lose or broken he charge 95 $ for 5 min work .
Iv been fixing fobs for years, its a normal repair for sure. but 95$ seems a bit high but then again, maybe he's working on nicer car fobs than I was haha =D but still, def good advice for those checking comments! Alberts right!
Hi Justin, would you be able to help me out here, i have bought almost all the necessary equipment i need in order to perform mobile phone SMD repair and i have tried practising on few Iphones by trying to desolder and solder components. I also attempted to repair an iPhone 5C, but it did not work out in my favour. Is their anything you would recommend for a beginner like me to do, as i am struggling to find and afford motherboards to practice on.
you don't have to get boards from actual phones there are loads of practise boards you can purchase on e-bay with various components to add onto the boards, they come as one and after you completed the circuit can be tested, just search on e-bay 'practise soldering'
As long as its the same connector, you can take any component from anything and change it out. It just needs to be the same one. If its not the same, going to have to google that or ebay, might even need to reach out to a rep in china for help.
STOP HITTING YOUR WORKSTATION - from now in in your mind that workstation surface is tissue paper that you will rip if you touch. That hitting and shaking the micro is extremely distracting.
This is by far the best teaching channel to do with micro soldering on the tube

What do you think of eutectic alloys containing silver, like Sn62Pb36Ag2?
I have used it in my work before, but did not notice to much of a difference vs just using 63/37

It can be, I know some people that swear by it and think it helps evenly distribute heat, and others like myself prefer not to use it.
