  • RMS Titanic model by Newquida with authentic sinking action! This large 32" Titanic model has lights and many of the details that say Titanic. This ready to run Titanic features a 4 channel remote control, 1/325 scale, 3 motors, 3 propellers, servo controlled rudder, rechargeable battery with charger, deck illumination, presentation rack and a overall feel of the RMS Titanic ocean liner via detailing that will impress some but disappoint others. I did buy the book LIFE Titanic: The Tragedy that Shook the World: One Century Later to make references to the Titanic model. From what I could see this model was fairly accurate to the real ship, but I was not counting rivets. On a closer inspection this Titanic model does scream cheap and fast build. Many aspects of it are typical of low end made in China rubbish. My buy price in Australia was $199 less a 20% discount at David Jones. So I paid $160AUD or roughly $122USD. I do look at e-bay to see what prices are being asked there and I was shocked. It ends up I purchased this model for a great price, far cheaper than the e-bay sellers setting up sales with Titanic tax and Titanic emotion. Be really careful if you are buying this model of Titanic!

    • RMS Titanic 32" Model ...
    RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning of 15 April 1912, after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. Of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, more than 1,500 died, making it one of the deadliest commercial peacetime maritime disasters in modern history. The largest ship afloat at the time it entered service, the RMS Titanic was the second of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, and was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. Thomas Andrews, her architect, died in the disaster. The wreck of Titanic, first discovered over 70 years after the sinking, remains on the seabed, split in two and gradually disintegrating at a depth of 12,415 feet (3,784 m). Since her discovery in 1985, thousands of artifacts have been recovered and put on display at museums around the world. Titanic has become one of the most famous ships in history; her memory is kept alive by numerous works of popular culture, including books, folk songs, films, exhibits, and memorials. Titanic is the second largest ocean liner wreck in the world, only beaten by her sister HMHS Britannic, the largest ever sunk.
    Possibly the best fun with this Titanic model is to play battle boats, my old and trusty $25 Russian aircraft carrier has a pool battle with Titanic, it makes for the best fun ever. My review of the Russian RC ship is below.

    Over one hundred years ago, a ship thought to be indestructible suffered the ill fate to strike an iceberg during its maiden voyage across the North Atlantic. The unthinkable occurred, and the Titanic went to the bottom. What happened on that cold and inky night has haunted and entranced us ever since. Anything related to Titanic has attached to it a Titanic Tax!

      leokimvideo I have to agree on price of the model even in a store a little to pricey especially if you only get to sink it once and I waswodering abour the electronics when you first said that you could sink it. Not very well thought out toy when made

    Lets get this straight, there is a shipping and handling charge on some e-bay sales. Slap $40 to $50 if it's shipping outside the USA. No matter what the e-bay prices are too expensive Vs what's going on with this model Titanic.

    The funnels had lights shining up, which gave them an illuminated appearance, but they weren't that colour. The rudder is also much longer than the half moon shape of the original, and the funnels did not have such large posts attached to them, but other than that it would be a pretty good ship, for $29.99. $200 is honestly way too high. You were quite right about the Titanic tax, for some reason they tend to be much more than normal. I will also add, there were several more cranes on the ship than included.

    The shape of the body is extremely accurate, so is the major details such as the rivets, they weren't that big but there was a lot of them, there was also lighting on the funnels but it wasn't red, it was more of a white but the yellow colour gave it light orange. Maybe the rudder is actually accurate 😂 due to it not being able to move out of the way of the iceberg...

    I don't know if this has been said before, but that wheel in the stern of the ship is part of the docking bridge. It was used to help navigate the ship while docking. Think of it as a rear view mirror.

    The Titanic was historically disproportional. That was one of the reasons it couldn't avoid the iceberg.
    The other was that one of the officers on the Titanic, Officer Murdoch, ordered the Titanic to reverse the propellers to slow down to allow more time to turn. But it was in vein and it ended up causing the wreak.

    Titanic featured white lights shining up the funnel from the deck, it was also a triple-screw vessel and the rudder was done correctly (although it wasn't nearly big enough for the scale and didn't turn far enough). Also the area at the stern of the vessel is not a secondary bridge. The fourth funnel actually wasn't even for kitchen smoke (that was channeled into the 2nd or 3rd funnel as the kitchen was mid-ship). It was seen at the time that a vessel with four funnels was alot more powerful and grand than a three funnelled vessel so it was completely fake and served no purpose whatsoever. I was actually quite disappointed in the model especially for the full retail price, but great video as normal!

    I purchased this same model from Amazon, roughly 130.00 free shipping. Not very historically accurate however with a little work it can be made into a fairly accurate model. I added extra windows to represent the ones found on the ship on the promenade deck and A decks, added extra rigging to the mast, callsign banners and some detail painting.
    Now for the fact that it DOES, indeed tend to sink. The waterproof taping added at the factory is anything but waterproof. I added gold duct tape to represent the gold striping, and, over that, waterproof Gorilla tape. Total cost of detailing and modifications were about an extra 15.0 with materials you can pick up at any local Walmart or Home Depot. With a little work this can be turned into a fairly accurate radio controlled Titanic model at a fraction of the cost of other models.

  • @foxunitone
    @foxunitone 7 лет назад

    Leo, You are correct the Titanic only had 3 funnels for boiler/engine and the 4th was used for things like kitchen smoke. BUT, the biggest reason for the 4th was to make the ship look more magnificent and powerful. A perfect example would be the Queen Mary, built by both White Star and Cunard. Queen Mary has only 3 funnels and almost anyone you ask will think she is smaller than Titanic when in reality she is a lot bigger. But because she only has 3 funnels, many think she is a smaller and less powerful ship than the Titanic must have been. Also from the few detailed photos and some verified eye-witness accounts, the Titanic was a brilliantly lit ship with lights along most of her support wires and even near the antenna wires and she had large lights that illuminated her funnels from the outside. How I hope that in our time some kind of technology will allow us to at least LOOK back in time and see things like this ship with our own eyes.

    Leo, I have build a Remote controlled Titanic out of a model kit. It is in fact stearing very moderate, just like the real Titanic. The rudder effects are all above the ship's bottom, that's because the water flow under the ship beneath the rudder is nearly effectless. It has only the effect due to it's (running) center propeller.

    A little fun fact real quick about ramming and the Titanic. The Titanic's sister ship, RMS Olympic, accidentally rammed and damaged the British cruiser HMS Hawke, rammed and sank the German Submarine U-103 during the First World War, rammed a smaller ocean liner called the HMAT Fort St. George, and rammed and sank the Nantucket Lightship.

    Those have definitely been shorted though. Maybe they could be saved by putting the individual motor(s), servo, and controller/receiver in rice.
    Might be interesting to open it up and install hobby grade water-proof guts instead.
    Thinking even more... could modify it to have a servo open a hatch in the bottom, inducing the sinking.

    That's a real good looking book. The model looks real nice, although there is some stuff that I don't like about how it looks. I would love to see the manufacturer make a model of the queen Mary, now a hotel and museum in California. Also Leo, the oscars are on later, hopefully, our nominees will be paying tribute to the late actor bill Paxton, who had passed away earlier today.

    I think the funnel is lighting up because it is the "windows of the rms titanic " so it is not the funnels

    The actual ship isn't meant for the middle propeller to reverse, it's partly one of the reasons Titanic couldn't avoid the Iceberg in time, the ships engines were set to reverse, only taking advantage of 2/3 of the propellers.

    the fourth funnel, was for intake for the boilers, and the aft steering wheel was for aiding in moving the ship into port

    I'm not new to this channel (kinda) I love you're videos. I know a lot about spiders, but I'm not an expert. I've watched the Titanic movie and it was pretty good. I forgot how the Titanic sank, but I remember someone being dumb and said to keep going (something like that). Anyways, keep up the good work on the videos. Can't wait for what's in store in the future. I'm excited!

    is there any water tight spaces on the ship? as good looking it is you can't see the x-ray of how it's built up, and if there is any protected areas. as good a lark it would be to put on realistic sinking I think it would have to survive that sinking and by survive I mean fully functional.

    the titanic split in two was because the SUPER DUPER DUPER heavy stern (the back) was in the air, and the hull couldn't handle the weight, and it tore the ship in two

    This model with exactly the same components and boxing is used with several brand names. Ours has a remote control that is more like a car remote however. It also comes with at least three different batteries (yours is the worst) which explains the price difference in some cases. For example our model (same box, manual with a different company branding) has a 3200mah battery and it runs fast for an hour. It turns ok too for the length of vessel. A vessel that lengh is never going to turn in your pool if it is even remotely to scale. We use it in a canal basin. Wind hasn't been an issue but we are careful after a barge passes because of the wake and expecially if the ship is side ways to the wake. It's a shame you aren't teaching your child to look after their toys better.

    • @gonk-on
      @gonk-on 7 лет назад +1

      A bigger rudder would of helped but the sheer length of this thing would still make it a slow turner, modern ships have propellers at the front and sides to help tricky corners, clever eh

    It's quite funny seeing this model Titanic ram the other ship because in real life, Titanic's sister ship, the Olympic, sank a German U-boat by ramming it during World War I.

    YES! you are very right with this. Now I'm going to say this ONCE okay, and LISTEN to this carefully. ''bow - is the FORWARD/Foreward part of either a BOAT/SHIP. stern - the back/most aft part (usually above + below where the propellers are) of either a boat/ship! There is specifically No name except ''Mid-section'' for the very middle of a boat/or ship

    There actually is a submersible Titanic model that can is built to sink and split in half, just like the real Titanic. I have one that I got at the flea market for $5. It's a shame that they're so rare and expensive though, one can fetch $800 on Ebay.
