Bill Effin' Murray!!
His role in this was classic Bill, much of it adlibbed off the cuff, like only he can do. The Cinderella story scene is one of his best improvs ever.
And when I first saw this in the theater, and it came to the scene where he said 'It's no big deal' and took a bite out of the Baby Ruth bar in the drained pool, people in the theater were falling out of their seats laughing. I guess it was more of an 80s funny, but it went over pretty well then.
Great reaction, loved when you said you felt it was a given that the spoiled brat Spalding would automatically just eat his boogies...golden!!
You're right about Murray. Love his improv!!! I think most if not all of his Cinderella story got cut from the reaction, but I certainly appreciated it regardless :). And I know just what you mean about the 80s humor. Humor changes with each decade. It is very distinct!! I have always heard about a movie scene with a candy bar in a pool. I finally got to see it!!!!! I wish I could have been in the theater to watch this one.
Yes the caddy manager is indeed Bill Murray's brother
I knew it!! He was so young it was hard to recognize him!
Great reaction! I love this movie, and you can watch it 1000 times and it never gets old!
Don't forget about Michael O'Keefe in the cast, who is sort of the main character. This is such an underrated actor! He's been in loads of great movies. Last thing I saw him in was in City on a Hill, which is a great crime drama series with Kevin Bacon.
oh yes! I finally had to look him up because I knew I knew him from something... Roseanne!
"What if they're clip-on?" LOL
You're the first in the comments to catch that ;)
My favorite comedy of all time
It's pretty dang good!
Your biggest laugh was about the pool dooty
It was pretty dang funny. I could barely get through the editing of some of these scenes because I kept laughing.
"Hey everybody, we're all gonna get laid!"
Fun Fact: Tiger Woods so adores this movie that he played Carl Spackler in an American Express commercial that included references to many of the movie's most famous scenes.
No Respect Fact: Rodney Dangerfield was new to acting at the time and had trouble following along. Due to his background working with comedians, Harold Ramis was able to assist him throughout filming.
Cinderella Story Fact: Bill Murray improvised the "Cinderella Story" sequence from two lines of stage direction. Director Harold Ramis simply asked Murray to imagine himself announcing his own fantasy sports moment. Murray simply asked for four rows of chrysanthemums and did the scene.
Rat Farts Fact: When the Bishop, played by veteran actor Henry Wilcoxon, is having his best round of golf ever during a thunderstorm, he misses an easy putt, looks skyward and yells "Rat Farts!" and is immediately struck down by a bolt of lightning. The background music in this scene was from Cecil B. DeMille's classic The Ten Commandments (1956), in which Wilcoxon played the part of Pentaur.
When Worlds Collide Fact: The memorable scene that begins when Ty Webb's golf ball crashes through the window into Carl Spackler's ramshackle abode was not in the original script. It was added by director Harold Ramis after realizing that two of his biggest stars, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray (who did not get along due to a feud dating back to their Saturday Night Live (1975) days), did not have a scene together. The three met for lunch and wrote the scene together. Although it has nothing to do with the plot, it is widely regarded as one of the funniest scenes in the movie. This is the only time that Chase and Murray have appeared in the same scene together.
Awwww... I think the get laid line got cut from my reaction. It's just lying there on the virtual editing floor. lol I do try to include the most important lines (I'm usually good at catching them!).
I may have to find that old AmEx commercial. OMG
I love that this was Dangerfield's first film. You can tell most of it was just off the cuff or just one of his stand up routines in action. It was completely a challenge to edit it!!!! lol I am hoping some viewers will catch that I put his "no respect" catch phrase in the reaction -- I actually isolated it and turned up the volume :)
OK -- that clears up a lot about the lightning scene. The Ten Commandments (I have seen it) makes sense. I was thinking it was poking fun at Little House on the Prairie. But maybe Little House was just mimicking The Ten Commandments?? Oof my head is spinning now. haha
I'm glad the three of them could sit down and do the window crash scene. It needed to exist!!
You're welcome. Have a blessed week.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
Thanks for these!! 🙂
vovindequasahi ...I am to please. 😁
Go with God and Be Safe from Evil. 😎 👍
@@BigGator5 You betcha! The way to avoid evil is to learn from it. Taste it. Lick it! Suckle on its teets until you are so full you realize it is a pipedream!
This was filmed in Florida thats why everyone is sweating... A bit humid
I was thinking it was FL after awhile. I have never been there so I couldn't quite tell. Thanks!!!
It was filmed in Hollywood florida. They actually blew up the golf course, they weren't supposed to. Everyone was trashed during filming. Bill and chase hate each other, that's the only clip together. It was originally supposed to be about the teenagers. They let the comedians do their thing and it was so much better Herold changed everything during filming.
I thought the explosions looked pretty darn extensive! Whoops! I can see how it could've been more of a pseudo bratpack movie with the focus of the teens. Of course they were all drunk -- they even had a portable bar out on the golfcourse! ;)
@@okchristina was mostly hard drugs. Laugh
Hi, Christina.
Just discovered you. Fun fact: Bill and Chevy didn't get along. At all. A lot of other people didn't get along with either one of them. But they definitely didn't get along with each other. Even on SNL. But they were pro enough to work together.
Keep up the good work.
Regards from Illinois. ✌&❤
PS: In reference to Gladiator, war is not a necessary evil. It is an evil of choice, waged by a handful of rich vermin for profit. If those who made war had to fight it, you'd see peace breaking out all over the place. IMO of course.
I've been learning about the fact that they didn't get along. And I think I already knew Chevy was sometimes difficult to work with in general. Bill I think tended to show up late? But once they arrived they did their magic.
I agree with the war issue -- it shouldn't be necessary, but it will always exist due to the fight over money, land, and power. Sigh.
Thanks so much for watching!!!!!!
@@okchristina Thank you. 👍
During the massage scene Cindy Morgan was covered with baby oil and when Chevy Chase kissed her, he slipped off and fell on the floor with a loud thud. The scene was funny enough for them to add it to the film!
So. Funny. :)
No it's not Bill Murray's brother, it's Richard Dreyfus. hahahaha
LOLOLOLOL
They totally look similar from a distance!! I only know the brother from movies when he is much older with a much grumblier voice. ;)
@@okchristina You're doing a good job. The channel should take off here pretty soon. A lot of people watch series and episodes which makes it a niche market. You watching favorite films of the masses will grow the channel quickly. I enjoy watching younger folks surprise that older movies are good.
Thank you so much!! I am just getting started with some episodes (The Last of Us) and am hoping the movie selections are fun for everyone. I know I am certainly enjoying all of it!!
The guy playing the boss of the caddies is Bill Murray’s brother, Brian. He cowrote the movie. The Murray family has 9 brothers and sisters (hence the large family in this) and some of them did work as golf caddies.
EDIT: Just got to the part where you recognised Brian Murray.
@19:02 His Perrier water is flat so he’s putting Alka Seltzer in it to add bubbles making it seem fresh.
LOL -- I had not seen Brian that young before and from a distance he really does resemble Dreyfuss! I mainly know Brian from 90s movies (Wayne's World!!!!), but I didn't think Dreyfuss was in this. It took that close up of him to get it straight.
1. Chevy Chase and Bill Murry hated each other. So much so that it came to blows when they were doing SNL. Getting them together here was a miracle.
2. FUN FACT: This was Rodney's first movie and didn't know what "action" meant. So, the director (Harold Ramis) just told him to do your thing.
3. In 1980 there weren't phones to pull out. We were on our own.
4. I play golf and Rodney's antics wouldn't be allowed. The Marshall would be there immediately.
5. Rodney="Easy Money" and "Back to School".
I have been hearing about the rivalry between Bill and Chevy. Crazy!
I completely believe that Ramis just let Rodney loose in most of the scenes lololol. I am an old fan of Dangerfield simply because Back to School caught my attention back in the day and I loved it. I had not really seen him in anything else until now!! I just added Easy Money to the master watchlist.
And I definitely remember the pre-cell phone days. ;)
You should also check out National Lampoon’s Vacation (and Christmas Vacation for the upcoming Holiday Season!)
Alas I have seen that one -- it is a family favorite that is watched almost ceremoniously around that time of year. But spot on with the type of suggestion!! Obviously I LOVE that movie!!!
Fantastic, thank you and I'm saaaacribing!!! The Jerk with Steve Martin from 1978 is one you might have missed too. It's a great comedy classic also.
I was recently asked about The Jerk... I have seen it but it was almost 30 years ago and I only remember two things: what he names his dog and there is a scene where he takes a lamp and says "I don't need anything else!". LOLOL So, it would technically be a rewatch, but I have a special category of the films I have seen, but don't remember. There are several of those. I am super picky and honest, though... if I remember too much I WILL NOT call it a first time watch. But this one is definitely added to the master list now. Thank you for watching and the sub!!!!!!!!!
@@okchristina I have no Problem with people doing a "Re-watch" as long as they state it is a re-watch..... Especially if gonna do a movie series, and already seen one of the series...... I have seen a couple other reactors who have a "Favorites" day/month where they share their favorite movies.....
Excellent suggestion. I have thought about that for down the road... with say, Back to the Future or anything Trek. Those are some of my faves where I am actually the expert and can give informed commentary. But that would be mostly for me than viewers ;) All re-watches will be clearly labeled so!!
Thank you. Please take a look at "Ruthless People" (1986)
I will add it to the list!!
The more you watch it the funnier it gets! I promise
I find myself giggling more and more just in reflection!!
Enjoying your channel
Thanks! :)
Welcum
Back in the 80s movies were allowed to be funny.
Good reaction. Two problems are you're the wrong sex and generation to fully appreciate the humor.
19:09. Worst sex scene ever.
Definitely very slippery!! lol
