- This week, Karl takes us through his opinion on Glock Sight Upgrades. We all love Glocks because they run all the time. That said, the stock sights leave room for improvement. Even if you get the factory sights with tritium upgrade, the front sight still doesn’t jump out at you. So, Karl shows us a few options. Some are better for competition; some for combat. Choose what matches your mission. Yes, there are dozens of brands out there. Most are good and a few are great. However, there are also some really cheap brands out there. Stay away from those. As with all guns and gear, we tend to preach for people to drop the extra dime and go for “Mil-Spec.” If it is tough enough for the US military, it will most likely also serve you well.

Yes, a Glock rear sight tool is mandatory. My rear sight tool was a pine stick and a rubber mallet.

Karl, ive bought 4 sets of the fixed tritium dawsons for my glocks and love em. The front has a large white circle around the tritium insert. Cant reccomend them enough. Thanks for another great video!

I tha old days I carried 1911's 24/7 no tritium yet but I did have emergency orange paint. I was locally famous for putting bright orange front sights on everything. I love the orange enhanced tritium front sights today. Thanks for your video. It helps reinforce an old practice.

Good stuff. I like these videos that are too the point. Those half hour videos I've seen others put up are very annoying, especially when you are trying to do some research and just want some info. NutnFancy can pull that off, but others need to be more efficient.
Very insightful video. Sights are the only components on Glocks that really do need to be replaced. I like Heinie Ledges and 10-8 Performance. They are great designs if you have uncorrected 20/20 vision. 10-8s fiber optics are pretty durable too. I currently run Trijicon HDs also for the same reasons you mentioned. With aging vision, it's pretty hard NOT to notice that big orange dot.
You should make a video on how to clear or enter a room, I'm sure that would make for a good video! Keep up the good work :D
Never by yourself. If you genuinely believe you have a baddy in your home, get your gun, hunker down, call the cops.
Only go alone if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TOO. You NEVER enter a room alone, if you have too make sure you have training. Good training.
Still would be a great video for that "if you have to" moment like a child in the other room.
In teams you can roll in fast because you have another person/people covering opposite corners. By yourself you stay outside the room, slice the pie to roll from one side of the door to the other which should cover about 90% of the interior of the room before entry. When you enter pick one of the two blind corners and hope you’re right. You’ll always have an initial blind spot on entry with one person.

I actually like the "box" rear sight...I find it easier to get on target unfortunately they only make a steel illuminated one, which I couldn't find. I opted for the factory night sights.

Roger on the electronics, that's why if you are gonna carry anything from cellphones to flashlights it be hooves you to do PCC's and PCI's on your gear.
I want the sights from an M16 and an attachment point for a K Bar, on my G27.

I the FBI has a variant of Ameriglo Agent version on issue 17M, 19M 9mm pistols. I like the TruGlo Pro sights but see what he means about the Trijicon XDs. I'm old enough, 49 to remember how Wayne Novak, Novak 3 dot combat sights were all the rage. In short, steel, U type. combat(non snag) sights are a good idea on Glocks.
For the price of a glock, you shouldn't have to get other sights, or trigger, or mag release, or have the grip shaved and stippling done. I've got an h&I vp9 and it came with all of that for almost the same price.

I run the Trijicon HD yellow front on my Glock 19 and TruGlo Tritium on my Glock 26. Love em both, but the Trijicon are def my fav. Worth the expensive price tag.

Yes 💯. Walk before you run! 🏃🏻♂️. Far too many people post 2015 or so think they buy a Glock 19 9mm or 1911a1 .45acp then they can be a Navy SEAL or SAS guy. 🤦🏼♂️. Learn & understand basic skills first.
What about silencer height sights with the trinium ampules?
I like an all black rear and a luminescent front;but not the fiber tube type.
I agree. I'm 49 & a veteran, 4yr MP 🎗. A sidearm can bang or clang around a lot. A flimsy fiber optic tube could break or fail in a real critical incident. Glocks are best with steel night sights with the newer U or engineered design to assist in reloads, wounded methods(1 handed). Trijicon is a popular brand.

Thanks for your service sir , all your videos are pretty informative and I learned a lot about the glock . The most important thing for gun and use is safety . I had a friend of mine ( he is a police officer /marine ) he shot himself in the foot and blew clear his holster luckily they did save his toe. I carry the p226 smith and Wesson and I gotta say the glock is a fun weapon to shoot very accurate and when I need to be fast I’m lighting fast in the draw very good stuff
The TFO have a green front and yellow rear. TFX are all green, I believe.
I have the ameriglo I-dot with tritium very similar to the trijicon hd. I can really make out the orange front sight.

I had the *same* problem with with my TRUGLO sights. I winded up installing my stock rear sights and holy fuck is it a baller combo. Bright white square, big glowy dot. I tried with the HDs but I found the CAUTION orange color drew my eye in better than the more red HDs
my personal preference is the Haley sights with tritium front and blacked out rear.
Personal favorite, Ameriglo Agent model night sights, rear 2 green dots, front sight has green with orange circle. Otherwise, factory window box and ball sights for me.

I had tried on hd ns on my g42 they were great but I'm looking for new sights for my g19 and want xs big dot but can't afford them only got g42 sights with them,it was used.Any recommendations that are around 50 or under?

How would you compare these to the haley strategic thirteen sights I'm debating between these and the trijicon. I have a vickers u notch rear and ameriglo green front and I find it a lot hard to line up the front sight with the u notch. Thanks
what do you think of reddot sights? Or is that the same as lasers: electronics?

Just like on a rifle, Red Dot sights are great, once you master iron sights. However, they do take practice, just like any pistol sights. Unlike lasers, if your pistol red dot dies, you can always look through it and use your iron sights. Yes, I guess that applies to lasers also. Strength & Honor, TR.

Just curious what are your thoughts on the XS Big dot or Standard dot sights ? The DXT2's have tritium front and rear.
The Ameriglo I-Dot Pros are my favorite handgun sight hands down. The Truglo Tritium Pros are my 2nd choice. My issue with Trijicon HDs is they are tall, expensive compared to other quality night sights and they have razor sharp edges. Great sight picture but IMO not worth the money when there are alternatives.
I don't agre 100%, as well the TruGlo are much brighter in the dark.
I actually like the Glock OEM Night Sights. I have no reason to replace them.

Yep, you can rack the shit out of them. I often do it in classes, off doorways and walls, just to show the students. HDs are great sights. I even run them on my G-43 backup. Thanks for watching. Strength & Honor, TR
I think most standard sights on a lot of pistols are only mediocre. I prefer fiber optic or tritium sights. the sight adjustment tools are well worth the money!
Have the Trijicon HD on my Glock 30 but the yellow front sight is starting to dull and getting harder to see, so I’m thinking about replacing them. Any experience with Night Fision sights? Would appreciate any insight before purchasing them or another set of Trijicons. Thx!

The HD XR’s for me are even better than the regular HD’s. I can see and confirm my hits much faster. Only complaint is the rear sight is sharp so I only carry with a holster that has a sweat shield that extends to the rear sight.
Agreed. I run HD XRs on a couple of my Glocks.
I like the orange 3 dot traditional Trijion HDs but I might try the XR version. I like the big orange front post.
Awesome review really makes sense, just bought my first Glock 19 Gen 4, two things that don;t thrill me are the sights (Gonna replace them as soon as Maryland lets me take control of the weapon, stupid 7 day waiting period), and the trigger, I don't like the curved trigger, I am gonna replace it with a flat trigger. Excited to shoot this platform, and truthfully, I bought this pistol from an Armor / Gunsmith not brand new, but very well maintained.He replaced alot of stuff on it, and when he sold it to me, he put the stock items back on so the barrel, trigger , magazine release ect are all brand new. Awesome video thanks brother.

I love the trijicon HD night suppressor height. Do the white then all 3 are white . My other must a Jonny glock trigger . Well worth the money. I don't know another guy how cares and dose a better job.

Where the rear sight on a Glock needs to be? Is centered in middle no drifted off 5-10mm to one side, if you have to drift handgun sights over it’s your shooting that needs work.

No, it is not. I carry a short fixed blade on my belt, more as a utility knife. It is a Tops Knives brand, but I have no loyalty to individual knife companies. Most are good; some are great. You usually get what you paid for.

What is your take on the .40S&W? Not trying to start the silly debate. I shoot / carry all three major calibers. Don’t have a lot of confidence in 9mm, but recognize its strengths. Never felt underprepared with a .45ACP. Don’t see .40 as a bad caliber. Just curious on the opinion of better men experienced men than I.
I started with 9mm Ball, and it sucked. My unit switched to .45ACP, and it sucked (not enough ammo). Then, they gave us GLOCK .40cal, and it hit hard with more rounds. Then, we did tests on human cadavers... 9mm Barnes TacXP out performed 40cal and 45ACP in the human bodies. I used to think all hollow points were the same. Not anymore. So, now I carry a G-23 (.40cal) with a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel. I can shoot 9mm all day long, but can quickly switch to 40cal if I'm out of 9mm. The 9mm just shoots better. Just my opinion. I've used both and honesty can't say I prefer one over the other. Both are awesome.
How do you zero sights?
Another option with the HD sights is to take a black permanent marker and color in the 2 small dots on the rear U notch. That way your eye in any condition can focus on that front sight post without other distractions. Basically taking the best worlds of your competition sights and combat sights

Yep, the three dots with tritium inserts. That was the "best technology" 30 years ago. In the GEN-5s, which came out AFTER I filmed this video, all now have the "Bold" sight option, which is the same Trijicon HD sights that I'm showing here, but made by AmeriGlow. Thanks for watching, TR>

I'm gonna say it again because so many need to know/do this, USE/APPLY LOCTITE.
MilitantDOAR true story, that front sight definitely needs Loctite. Mine came loose after about 1000 rounds without it. Just a dab of blue loctite on the threads of that front sight and I haven’t had an issue since.

Because it is not a good sighting design for long range shooting. Fast up close, but terrible for long distance shooting
Please explain why you think that the Clip-Grip is a good choice. That has got to be worse than a Serpa or just sticking it in your pocket. I offers NO protection of the trigger.
Excellent question, which I cover in a different video... but since you are here: I do NOT think that the Clip-Grip is a good choice. However, I have tested it and will run it in the summer when it is "Balls Hot" and I don't want to wear a heavy plastic holster. That said, NEVER just run the Clip without using a Trigger protector. I personally recommend the Vanguard, by Raven Concealment. It clips over the trigger and pulls off when you draw. Check out that other video and Thanks for watching. TR.

i crazy glue my fiber optic sight for 3 gun.
my glock rear sight tool is a wood fish bonker with a small punch with electric tape on the tip to tap it in lol.
just picked up the yellow trijicon hds, very nice.
finding the right setup will change your whole attitude about shooting.

If you do take to a gunsmith to get them on and go to the range just make sure you know where your hitting because obviously you don't have the tool to put on rear sight forgot to mention that in video..
My gunsmith would do it for $30 thats prob the cost of the rear sight tool.

Yep, my shotguns have same Truglo fibers. However, I put thousands of rounds through my pistols. The number of shocks does add up and eventually the fiber breaks
I would have no problem with the Glock factory sights if they didn't just come in white.
I still think X's are the best self deffense sight.
I have used the XS for about two year and i was (and still "in some ways") on your wagon...
...But i discovered a "flaw":
like the "Mepro 21"; if you are standing in a "dark room", and have to shoot to a target in "full sun", you will not be able to see the tritium or even the "white lollypop".
The "silhouette" of the XS will be "really approssimative"; no problem in short range (like 5-7 m) but at even at 25 m i do suck big time in those conditions (i am not even able to put all the bullets in a "torso like target"...).
I am going back to "traditional silhouette + 2 dots"...
