- This is the official trailer for patch 2.4: Fury of the Sunwell. The original description for the content featured in this patch is below. The full patch overview can be found here:
battle.net/wow/...
The glorious fount of arcane energy known as the Sunwell empowered the high elves for millennia, until the death knight Arthas laid siege to the elven kingdom and corrupted its sacred energies. Seeing no other alternative, a band of survivors led by Prince Kael'thas destroyed the ancient fount. Over time the surviving elves fell prey to a crippling magical withdrawal.
Now, promising salvation for his people, Kael'thas has returned. Soon the Sunwell will shine once again, but whether the sacred fount will usher in deliverance or destruction remains to be seen.

RUclips: Oh he’s into WoW now, guess he’ll like this
Me: Ok then
Lol same here
It's been 10 years since I played WoW, RUclips want all of us to get back.
Golden Phoenix Gotta get that Classic WoW money
It's pretty ironic that Kael'thas allies with Kil'jaeden, when KJ is pretty much who to blame for the downfall of Quel'thalas :)
+Morfh in the big picture, yes. but archimonde before kil'jaeden. regardless, it's one of the many reasons why we all agree that Kael'thas went mad in the end
Kaelthas was succumbed to kiljaeden's deception the very moment kiljaeden materialize himself infront of illidan, vashj, akama and kaelthas back at the black temple in warcraft 3.Illidan described it as "kiljaeden taking abit of an interest to kaelthas in particular when he glanced over illidan's newly formed army but its nothing that bothered illidan much".
Illidan was a gateway drug lol.
You're misunderstanding the timeline, though. Kil'jaeden created the Scourge to prepare for the Legion's next invasion. Destroying Quel'thalas and the Sunwell to revive Kel'thuzad was part of the Legion's plan to be able to summon Archimonde. So basically Kael'thas chose to serve the one being who masterminded his people's destruction from start to finish. It wasn't until after Archimonde was summoned and left for Nordrassil that the Lich King betrayed the Legion.
Kaelthas become servant of kiljaeden during the frozen throne because the survival of his people in the outlands
They removed a few sound effects from this video. Such as Brutallus' grunt and KJ's laugh at the end. Search for this trailer elsewhere and the sounds are as they were when this came out

hi
I'm sorry but for those who remember watching this back in the day, does it feel like half the sound effects from this trailer are missing? I could have sworn that the undead actually made noises during the attack and you could also hear the skeleton slicing through the dying elf, or am I just crazy? It feels really weird and hollow watching this without those effects
Yes because it's a new version. Just search for "WoW Patch : Fury of the Sunwell Trailer" for the old (better) version. This feels so boring...
Yeah, its definitely missing some sound effects.
Podrick Fookin' Payne yeah and if u watch the shadow of the necropolis one certain bits have changed like when kelthuzad says your curiosity will be the death of you
I knew I initially remember this trailer being significantly more epic in presentation than I remember... rewatching this I'm like wow I know the graphics are poor in comparison but there was an it factor here at one point why is this underwhelming
Mandella effect?
I am watching this video in 2018 and seeing this gives this nostalgic feeling of how good was to play wow was back then when I was a teenager... ah well times changed. A big hug for those who experienced this game at his best
I love Kael'thas
Maybe his hunger for power or something makes him kind of hot
+ChipplesGaming More like a lunatic, but he has good character development
Best expansion and patch ever!!!! Bring Back Burning crusade and Blood elf lore!!!
The best patch was 5.2, the Thunder King.
Ew... MoP's lore and storyarc was probably all summed up in a year's worth, BC and Wrath touched upon deeply established and lore that had been worked on and developed for years and years and didn't feel penciled in
@@MyidolGwen Forgetting the fact that MoP set up an Old God / Legion arc perfectly. Nostalgia is a dangerous thing, so is not playing the game and developing a warped view based on others opinions.
Guess what...
@@MyidolGwen bc and wotlk ruined Warcraft lore beyond repair
The last raid of the Burning Crusade. I miss it. I remember when it first came out, I eagerly downloaded the wallpaper Blizzard generously offered us on their community site. I remember Kil'jaeden's empowering roar as he emerged waist-up from the Sunwell's abyssal recesses. This image can also be seen on Blizzard's new merchandise, their AMPM cups. The only thing I cannot forgive them for, is how their lore department massacred Kael'thas' character and his legacy, as well as his family's dynasty
Wow, that was along time ago. I really miss those days.
This was the best expansion ever. So much came out of this.
Im here after Blizzard
And you are going to cry ?
@@chrislab542 Oh, projection. Typical.
That moment you realize a Burning Crusade patch had more content than all of the of WoD..
Glad I don't live my life with Nostalgia Goggles.
Still doesn't invalidate his point.
The last WoD content patch, which is one of only three, before the current pre-legion patch lasted OVER A YEAR. People have been killing Archimonde (again) for OVER A YEAR. A content drought like that has never happened before in the history of the game. You may dismiss this old stuff as nostalgia, but the game had content and the game had substance back then.
Excuse me, but no. WoD's final content patch has not lasted a significant amount of time longer than the content patches of the last three expansions. I will agree WoD suffered from a rather depressing content drought and overall we got less in WoD than ever before, but the hyperbole of WoD being a 'content desert' compared to the last few expansions is merely only that- a hyperbole. I was there when people were moaning about Ice Crown Citadel lasting over a year, and people made the same complaints then as they do now; that the game is awful and dying and the next expansion better "fix everything" or else the game is dead.
Yeah, that .001% of the player-base got to see.
This is just EVERY expansion
Enemy comes
Enemy falls down magic toilet
Look
Burning Crusade: Kil'Jeaden Falls down sun well
Wrath: Arthas falls into big sporty thing
Cata: Deathwing falls in maelstrom
Pandaria: Garrosh knows stuff into mogo pools
QUIT PUSHING PEOPLE IN THE MAGIC TOILET
NuclearNerd Then perhaps people should stop bringing the skulls of conquered kings to Sparta and demanding earth and water?
Well, the streak is over now. WoD "Archimonde"...
Sheller whats next illidan creating one?
+Thragrotan He pushed Gul'dan down a Magic toilet.
It hurts me to see the date and realize this was released 10 years ago
Seriously, why did he go from the guy who refused the title of king to honor his father and all who had fallen, to the guy who betrayed his people to demons? When Arthas did it, at least a magic sword corrupted him, what happened here?
kaelthas claims that his people's addiction is uncontrollable but in truth, his own addiction is the worse.Deep inside kaelthas's mind,he would do anything to gain back that source of power even if it only restore himself but of course, that thought didnt bind him until kiljaeden appeared infront of illidan, vashj, akama and kaelthas back in warcraft 3.Kiljaeden scanned illidan's soldiers minds and took an interest to kaelthas in particular.Whatever kiljaeden took interest to kaelthas on that day, illidan doesnt know but it didnt bother him.
Magic is a helluva drug
The music brings back so many memories!
I guess keal'thas wasn't prepared for arthas

This should be narrated on every Burning Crusade private server
A deep theory! :D
no, it started to suck with WotlK. The people who think otherwise probably started playing during WotlK.
Rainy Jane
Actually WotLK was pretty good. It had the best lore and Icecrown Citadel and Ulduar are easily some of the best raids around. The only thing that ruined the game in that expansion was the uncluttering, and the Path of Titans system. The rest was really impressive. Some classes (like the Paladin) became better (I can only speak for the Paladin because that's what I rolled back then) and it had a lot of lore to it. Death Knights were amazing as well.
What I miss from BC is that feeling of epicness we got when we first flew, and doing Black Temple, and the mysthique it had back then because the game was still new and had so much to offer. I still kinda wish they waited a few years to release an expansion about Illidan. Maybe AFTER WotLK, since Illidan and Arthas were rivals. It would have been neat to have Illidan come back to Azeroth to see his foe die.
In the end, all expansions had good and bad, the thing is, BC was the first and had all the chances to bring good stuff. Warlords of Draenor is sincerely one of the best expansions and really suits the game at this point in time. I think they got it right.
urielvazquez The only thing I agree on was that the lore for wotlk was good, but the expansion itself I really disliked. I'm big on scenery and environments and to me Northrend was terribly dull after TBC. It was all these different variants of snow and then Sholazaar which felt like a second Un'goro, and which was an environment type I never liked in the first place. Also, they introduced vehicle mechanics, and it was like they went completely nuts with it: there were vehicle mechanics EVERYWHERE. They were something I never liked in the first place, but they were all over, you couldn't get away from them (like playing your class? Well, here, hit these three lame buttons instead of your abilities, and now do that 50 more times with 50 different vehicles!)
Wotlk Was probably the first time I stopped feeling "addicted" to WoW. I feel like most of the time when I speak with someone who "loved" Wotlk, they started playing during WotlK and see it as nostalgic (not saying that's the case with you, but I remember back when it was WotlK, it was rare to come across someone in-game who didn't dislike it compared with TBC - and no, that's not just nostalgia, I loved TBC while it was still TBC).
Also, it's interesting how nowadays everyone you speak to who played older expansions reminiscens on their presumed epic time raiding, when in actuality back in classic maybe like 1% of the population actually raided, and in TBC maybe like 1% of the population got to Black Temple and beyond. Most people got up to T5 in TBC, but suddenly everyone is like "oh I remember the awesome raiding of BT and Sunwell..." - where are these people coming from??
Loving Classic now but TBC is my favourite expansion and I'm hoping it gets released (again) one day.
...I can't believe this was so long ago. Still chills when Kael charges up.
2:18 ight imma head out
I love the audio delay in this version of the video.
Even with Naxxramas, Fall of the Lich King, Rage of the Firelands, Rise of the Zandalari, The Thunder King and Tomb of Sargeras, this is still by far the best and most chilling trailer.
I mean, tell me 2:59 doesn't make the hairs on your neck stand up everytime.
The 2.1 trailer is the best one but this comes admirably close, especially with the eerie vibes of the ending.
Idk why but I kinda liked these old npc cinimatics lol
when wow was amazing
Long live the memory of High King Anasterian and the Convocation of Silvermoon!
Golden age of WoW. I do never forget!!!
0:30 How interesting seeing abominations there considering that I didn't have access to those going through this part of Warcraft 3.
I'm so excited for this to come out
My favorite race, because of their lore. Blood Elf lore has been, and always will be my favorite. I roleplay as a Blood Elf. Oh... I love you, Sin'dorei.
im 23 years old... working in municipality... and studying in university for industrial engineering... i have played warcraft since 2000... and i played all of the installments... from Warcraft: the dark portal.... to reign of chaos and frozen throne... and into wow until this very new expantion: Legion... in all the 18 years... i have never seen a lore stronger and deep than that of the Quel'dorei... I have paid lots of my money and time and life to this game only to live through Lady sylvanas windrunner... kaelthas sunstrider... and Quel'dorei... the only times ever my head explodes is where i hear Kael'thas ' fury of sunwell intro... or lady sylvanas's lamnet of the highborne.... and my life outside of the game with all the good things and privilages pales in comparrison to what i have with this Great life in Quel'thalas... there will never come a better thing than the Sin'dorei in this game... it was and is and will be the deepest and greatest Story that blizzard has to tell... the Story which gave me a new life... a life as a sindorei... Shin'do Sin'dorei
Uh. What happened here? This trailer has the wrong music and is missing sound effects. o.O
Yeah, I remember the old version, it was completely different, it's like this one had it's sound/voice remade, but badly.
goblinounours
At least Kael'thas kept the same voice actor.
I loved TBC, I had a Female Blood Elf Hunter who used the Golden Bow of Quel'thalas and I always kept throughout wrath and cata, and was so pleased I could use its model in 4.3. Seriously, TBC held the best raids and the best looking armor...Priest, Warlock and Rogue are just a 3 classes who had epic looking gear throughout TBC
Whenever I read WoWTLK was the best expansion I just remember this patch and the thrill to try to kill Muru without any shamys or locks in the raid comes to my mind. good times blizz wp!!
i remember when this was actual, Sunwell only very few have seen from inside what a pity given the beautiful art of the whole instance. My guild only managed to kill the first boss but couldnt down Brutallus, brutal it was
Blood elves have the most sad dectiny 😢
Oh God, I forgot Kael'thas was voiced by Quinton Flynn
"It was called the Pool of Awesome..."
Hold on, Kael'thas allied himself with Kil'jaeden... the one responsible for the Scourge, which destroyed Quel'thalas.
Archimonde was
@FuriousBCPill The pandorans where hidden from the world by mist, Hence "mists of pandora" the reason they were hidden was because of the first attack by the burning legion. But for some reason the mists are gone now. That part i dont have the answer to.
Best patch ever ! i wish i could be raiding in 70 gear this again !!!
I know this is 8 years old and you may know, but Burning Crusade classic may be arriving. You’ll get your wish.
@@brandoncastellano1858 It wasn't the same. They ruined TBC Classic with boosts, GDKP's and other changes.
But Kael went through the portal in Dalaran, not the Blasted Lands.
That was after they defeated Magtheridom.
+MrFantocan what when he returned to kill the lich king?
bitjezeverpeisek
This is also after he was defeated by Arthas at Northrend, it is about 4 years between W3 Frozen Throne and Burning Crusade.
Back then when the game was good and actually had a good story line and was fun to play
This girl, in armor, the one who stepped forward is Lady Liadrin?
im so hyped boys!!!!
*With tear in eye*: Look how they massacred my Prince..
Keal’thas is one of my favorite video game characters EVER
Wow the audio was butchered in this version of the same patch trailer.....Butchered......especially the ending wow.......makes you realize how important good audio is
this and zul aman best WoW traiilers
awesome trailer and patch!
Blizzard butchered Kael's character, he had potencial back in W3
What no. Kael had a great fall from grace story. From his stand point he had literally no choice in the decisions he made. The only people willing to help him were the Legion, he didn't know anything about the horde accepting his people and hated the alliance for betraying him. Illidan wasn't working out and in his thinking there was no way the draenei were going to help him. The only problem is that they just didn't give him enough time in the spotlight or even have a moment for the bloodelf player to realize and react to the fact that the man that they had traveled across worlds to find was actually insane and was leading their people to ruin. Kael is my favorite character I think, but its all subjective.
42Nightsyesterday He definitely lost his way in the end I think, corrupt with power for sure. Burning crusade lore is a bit iffy though
true but dude... c'mon thats what theyre famous for -.-
@@42Nightsyesterday Kael Thas was uncompromising and utterly ruthless in his ambition to bring Quel'Thalas back to its old glory - and in extension, himself. So it's no surprise he would actually go that far and ally himself with the Legion, they promised him boundless power. All the fel magic and the volatile experiments drove him mad. In a sense, he's anathema to Illidan, who uses the power of the Legion against it, but never lost sight of the bigger picture, as it turned out in Legion. Illidan may have gone too far, but in the end, it paid out, where as Kael Thas was just striving for power for its own sake.
@@Donnerbalken28 bro, you clearly never played WC3 or know Kael's character well if you think he was motivated by a lust for power. It was pretty clear he was always dedicated to his people until he became fully corrupted by the legion.
bring Kael back
you brought back illidan so why not?
say the real Kael was kidnapped by the burning legion to control the blood elfs
Wait for Shadowlands go to the vampire zone and gg
Oh I remembered the days I started playing wow I started on the last patch 2.4.3 memories ;(
Quel'Thalas will join the Alliance!
The Blood Elves will join the Alliance!
No, the Blood Elves are beyond redemption. The High Elves and the Void Elves will reconquer Quel'thalas
@@CIAinTaiwanAndUkraine I was hoping for a United elven race. Ya know, blood elves, high elves and void elves all reuniting under one banner, and the Night elves, Nightborne and Highborne all united
The blood elves and nightborne were complicit in murdering the civilians of Astranaar, Darkshore and Teldrassil
High Elves, Void Elves and Highborne will avenge the fallen Night Elves and make the Blood Elves face justice and make the Nightborne recant their decision
The first time I not only was able to, but also join in with a wow end-game with everyone else.
Good times, still my fave end-game area. Next to timeless isle and argus.
Some of the best... Probably THE best...
This were the best time of wow. Even the soundtrack in game were good
The best trailer out of all of them imo.
TBC's videos still give me nostalgia of these time. WOTLK & Cataclysm don't.
I miss Karazhan. I miss Nagrand. I miss SSC, Gruul, Zul'Aman. I spent countless hours of pure fun with friends there.
Ulduar was the only promising raid since then.
I want to taste again the fun of this period of my gamer's life.
Chris Metzen said they would find a way at Blizzcon 2011. Since next expansion is most likely legion based due to the Wrathion vision in 5.0.
10 years ago patch 2.4 came out :O
@heycalice no I'm not saying that the raid on deathwing has to be 40 man, I'm just that, that option should be available to people that want to do it.
@Rickey985 I always said Deathwing should be the first return of a 40 man raid.. it's just too epic to pass up
"The name's Kael'thas, got it memorized?"
wait...you're saying KT's VA is Axel from KH2?!
DantesonofSparda85 didn't you notice? It's also Raiden from MGS/MGR.
What song starts at 1:35?
I listened to it with earphones and u won't believe the shivers it gave me, especially at the end
The last true epic and fun gaming experience left when this expansion ended. RIP WoW and the gaming industry.

oh the good old days.
Best patch ever
Oh i Miss the old Time.....
why are the ingame sounds removed...
It was also cool facing all these lore characters... Gruul,Magtheridon,Lady vashj,Archimonde,Kael'thas and Illidan :)
I've been a fan of WoW since watching my brothers play BC and sure they changed some things to the gaming experience that i didn't like but that never stopped me from playing. can't wait till they bring back Kiljaeden and hopefully make that raid challenging. I'm definitely up for it.
These old times in WoW, I wish to get back into these days ..
@JediBladeMaster Yeah, both Raiden and Kael'thas were done by the same voice actor :)
Their method of accomplishing that was putting him in the well of eternity dungeon
I knew it the dude that voice Kael'thas also voice iruka in naruto xd epic voice
He's Raiden in the Metal Gear series.
OMG now i will hear Raidens voice everytime i hear Kael'thas, you have ruined kt for me! xD
ONE
Mission Accomplished.
Yea, I remember when someone got the first one on my server, people were following him around everywhere in the cities.
Oh to be raiding TBC again, my favorite time.
FIRE TO THE AID OF SHADOW
he is more or less correct. The highborne were night elves but they were also the first to be exposed to the well of eternity, which is what turned the trolls into elves in the first place, so technically they would have been the first elves. If you reply to this comment I won't be able to see it =/ between this ubuntu OS and youtube's new layout I can't figure out how to tell if I have new comments and where. Sorry.
The best days of wow... I wish I could go back so bad
Yes. Apparently we left a near-death Kael'thas in Tempest Keep. He got revived with Fel energies to summon Kil'jeaden. He was the final boss in Magister's Terrace, where we remove his head to keep him dead this time.
You can still do it, you know.
ahh, warcraft 3 memories.
How can their be abominations at that part when Arthas used the Sunwell in the stage where he didn't have abominations yet.
Spoiler alert!
lol
@OcoryustheBold No, what I'm saying is that the entirety of WoW has come down to "Wtf, PANDAS!" which is really the leats intelligent way to look at it. And lots of free times means there will be a giant gap between those who have too much free time and those who have a regular life
Not quite. The Highborne were the original Elven race, and it was all but destroyed by overuse of Arcane magic and the summoning of the Burning Legion. The survivors of the Highborn split - some remaining Highborn and hiding for thousands of years, others mutated into Naga or Satyr, most became Night Elves or High Elves and went their seperate ways. The Blood Elves came into being much later after the Scourge destroyed the Sunwell.
@Deadganon uh... actually when I say vanilla I mean some of the old content that has many changes to to it to try to make it interesting, with a lot more new content as in twilight highlands, tol - barad, etc, but unlike it's previous expansions that has a sanctuary where a lot of players stay in, ex... dalaran, shattrah, this one does not
@Supersomonerandom that explains why the scourge is with lich king and not the burning legion -.-
The burning crusade was years ago mate :/ sadly, the time to play this has long and gone, only the memories last now
