I'm sentimental about this particular video; it is my favorite of the Simon Library. I'm so glad RUclips kept suggesting it when it was newly released, and I was still unfamiliar with the channel. It's excellent how Simon sets up the story/travel, such as at 17:12 when he finds a way off the beach and up to the cliff top. At 18:23, looking tired and weary, he comes upon a perfect little woodland copse for his overnight camp, explains to us why he didn't camp on the beach, has a well-deserved dinner and decadent chocolate dessert, and then off to slumber, snug as a bug in a rug in a bivi that a subscriber sent him as a gift. I'd dare say Simon is the Grand Master and Sensei of these walking tours and many facets of wild camping, canoeing, bushcraft, and woodsmanship.
An informative & genuine look at the Norfolk coast path which I've been mulling over. Or the Hadrian's Wall path. After a great insight from Simon, showing how it is, I've learned enough to make a decision that's right for me. I hope his DSLR was ok
From Colorado USA. At 10k ft. Altitude.....My main pack food is Mountain House..great stuff for sure. In the 70s my friend and I thought to try their new product...blueberry pancake . May your steps on the trail be sure and your fire warm at night!
It's silly, but I really enjoy when Simon uses "squeezy cheese" on trips. Here in the States, the squeezy cheese we have is Easy Cheez and it's just chock full of preservatives and is absolutely a "cheese food product" and not actual cheese, so many of us don't eat it, especially those of us who do wilderness camping. Seeing that the UK and other places have ACTUAL cheese in tubes is fascinating and is something I REALLY want to try some day. Thanks for sharing, Simon!
Primula had so many flavours about 25 years ago & had real pieces of the featured flavouring in it (garlic & herb, ham, shrimp, etc). It was good stuff but I recall it had to be kept at low temperatures otherwise it'd spoil.

Sea Marge is a Hotel, but there is a pub section in the grand hall. Stunning cliff top gardens and nice food. The White Hart pub just down the road also nice 👍🏻 Brilliant crabs from the Shack in Overstrand too.
The cheese part reminds me of when they brought a spreadable version of seriously strong cheddar out, I used to butter the bread with it when I made seriously strong cheddar sandwiches...cheese and cheese is a good mix.

So glad you left the beach. Choice of the small woodland would be mine too, both for multiple reasons. Hope you stayed warm. Your videography is top notch. We all appreciate that. A bit of sweet at the end of a long day just hits the spot. “Nackered” means extremely tired or worn out? It’s a new word for this Texan. Do you call gravel on the beach, “Shingles”? There are beaches like that in Maine, miserable to walk far on. Thanks for taking us along, showing us more of the UK’s natural beauty. Good to see you again. Texas
Thanks mate! Yes, knackered just means dog tired. Shingle is the name we use for stony beaches like that (but just to make things confusing, we also call flat timber roof coverings and sidings ‘shingles’ just as you guys do😁) it’s a confusing language!! 😂
Well, I truly enjoy our shared language. I’ve taught my kids and grandchildren that words are important. So, here, shingles for the roof and walls are also referred to as “cedar shake or oak shake”, don’t ask me why. (Smile) Thanks for the help with “words”. I probably won’t use the word, “knackered”, simply because I think it’s unique to you guys. I’ll also stick to “rocky beach” rather than “shingles”. Although I will understand, they belong to you guys.
@@papajeff5486 : Hello! again, I should also have said that the phrase, 'the knacker's yard' was where horses were sent when they were no longer fit to work. Their meat would be rendered down in to pet food and their hooves and bones into animal glue. The expression knackered came to mean that one was fit only for the knacker's yard and had no other useful purpose in life.
So good to see this. Many great memories of similar adventures. Now, I realise what a privilege that was. Favourite game was to get visitors and American family to pronounce 'Happisburgh'! (Happys-berg vs 'Hayzbruh')

A lot of work ! Thank you.
Looks so wintery up there. Great video as usual Simon, thank you 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks for the walk .
You are so good!!!
So good to see this. Many great memories of similar adventures. Now, I realise what a privilege that was. Favourite game was to get visitors and American family to pronounce 'Happisburgh'! (Happys-berg vs 'Hayzbruh')
Nice video Simon 👍, hopping your legs an't to sore. That was a hell of a hike
Those rocks must be a bugger... beautiful views.. keep them coming Simon... always enjoy the videos mate ...
I'm hearing about lock down begining in the U.K. again. Who knows with our media across the pond. Hang in there man, I'm sure we'll be next. Stuck at home rewatching your adventures. Great hike by the way. Cheers
the east for the most part been fine. I from Norwich and we got our first proper case with Lockdown so we ain't were hit too bad, the trouble is people then think it is fake so we got it on the rise as people don't care for masks and things
We’ve been placed in a national lockdown as of midnight on Wednesday - back to filming in the garden then I guess! 😏
@@simonablokeinthewoods as long as your pulling out the cookware I'm watching. Didn't you do the chicken with the beer can at home? Hazy Jane, anytime of day! Strange times. Keep em all safe, we'll get through this.
@@mellonmarshall same thing here in the states. I just try to live as normal as the government will let me. Don't sweat the little shit, we say over here.
@@robster985 reminding people to wear masks all the time is annoying
Spend our 2018 holiday based at Dilham. Happisburgh was the nearest dog friendly beach, it noticeably eroded over the two weeks. One morning the electricity company turn up to more the power supply back. Don't know how long the car park will last. Thanks for the reminder a good holiday.
Scary isn’t it! It’s changed a lot since I was last there three years ago!
Nice one simon really enjoyed that looking forward to part 2 ATB Mark
I love your hikes Simon they are very relaxing . I’ll say one thing , you got to be in shape to hike in the sand, I know ,did it in the service , one step forward, two steps back . Thanks for the videos along the coast, they are amazing places. Can’t wait for the next one .Stay safe Simon . ATB to you and your family. See you soon. 😎
Jalapeño primula is just the best. Try it with the smoked sausage. Mmm
great video simon--your a great youtuber mate
Great video very informative 👏
1000 thumbs up👍 Simon. A great adventure and awesome views of the sea. Just excellent - thanks for taking the time to bring us along. I am sure I would have not lasted on crackers and cheese for the day. I was exhausted watching you climb the cliff AFTER deciding not to stay on the beach, and I was simply 'watching' you climb. 😊
I’m glad I made the call, despite really not wanting to push on further - better than a soggy bed in the middle of the night though! 💦
I walked the extension in lockdown. Good luck with the weather
