- One of the main keys during the development Nfs Pro Street was the focus on authenticity and the concept of legal street racing. Where the street racing scene is slowly progressing into more legalized events including drag races, time attacks, grip racing and drifting. ProStreet had been in development since before Carbon was even finished, alongside Undercover. The most likely timeline is between 1.5 years to almost two years.

Agree. It would be so perfect to see PS mechanics in new NFS games, at least as game mode (like ultimate mode for veterans)
This game really did capture the feel of being at car events, unlike any other game I've ever played.

Sense of speed is definitely the best. You drive 200/300/350 AND YOU ACTUALLY FEEL YOU DRIVE AT THAT SPEED. Damage system is also for me really good as for time game was produced.
The cars felt too grippy and the physics weren't good at all

I still love it and I think it's the best NFS ever made, they did this with no time, imagine what it could be if it were done with a lot of it

I mean, i cant disagree, but i must say that i hate the phisics in the game because they are nowhere as precise as they say, and the damage model probably came out of revenge but they made the body of the cars more solid. With some cars in some situations it feels like the game says "welp, fuck this guy in particular" and it gets extremely frustrating. I feel like Most Wanted 2005 is a whole lot more fun, but pro street is not bad at all, in fact i have been plaing the game since 2008 and i still play it.
@@Ferrari255GTO They said they made the handling more forgiving in the video as opposed to more realism. You're going to tell me most wanted surely has better physics right? Smh...As much as you "still" play the game you're still ready to slander it at a given chance.
@@NemisisDL no, i said most wanted is more fun, and physics arent that much more forgiving since cars behave like they are jello when you have already installed a stiffer racing suspension and yeet you to the nearest wall or simply flip your car because YOLO.

I think the best thing was the change. This wasnt ur next street buildup illegal scene and it definitely wasnt arcade built. You have to focus heavily from every aspect to make ur car win around every event and like they said the smallest bumps can screw u up if ur not careful

I simply have a pc and it runs fine on almost anything, being just a little bit heavyer than most wanted.

My top 1 Need for Speed, Such an underrated one :)
And for me the authentic part is the speed sense that is very cool.
You can feel super speed even going at 180 km/h and also the racing are realistic (exept for the wheelie competition)

Fun fact: In this game 250MPH feels like 250MPH.
The damage model and grip racing make this game authentic...
But I feel this game could have had the sponsors like NFS UG2. It would have made sense. You get sponsored for legal racing and not for illegal racing....

NFS Prostreet is authentic for me from how you can turn a stock car into a race car, regardless of what blueprint mode you are using.
I love the sense of power in this game. Older NFS feels like they are trying to handicap you from using the full power your build has to offer. Prostreet lets you have it all and makes it clear the consequences of doing so. Having an 800HP+ R34 GTR will make you a straight line monster but is really hard to control when trying to make tight consecutive corners.
I'm 23 yo man with a crazy passion about cars,but never had the chance to own a project car,but NFS PS made me feel like a real tuner!!

This game had an incredible concept. Somewhat realistic races with tuner cars.
Racing events, amazing looking cars, incredible sense of speed. Just a phenomenal game.
All of it just to be scrapped for Undercover.

I first played this game on PS2. The graphics is similar to the pc/cobsole version.
Loved it and keep it till this day, along with the classics.
The aesthetics in this was next level too🔥
That's another the physicaly insane in NFS prostreet!
Really taking the time to play this game and learning how to get good at it helps me better appreciate it. And the physics/mechanics don't make certain events a complete pain in the ass unlike Underground 1 and 2. I can actually be really good at the drag and drift events because it seems they've really focused on the physics, so now it's not some janky mess that you'll screw up more times than you can count. The customization is fucking God tier (minus the slowness of moving a vinyl/decal) and allows you to get some truly sick designs. You can really make the car yours.
The whole idea of a former illegal street racer taking those skills and dominating official race events is less overdone than just illegal street racing, and to climb your way up to the top is satisfying. I also just really like Ryan, I haven't played many NSF games, but out of the ones I have played, he's the character I truly care about. I think it might be that I'm kind of living vicariously through him, but also maybe it's that you care about his journey to the top because it's something we all want to achieve. We can relate to the dream of wanting to be the best and achieving things we never thought possible.
This game is really getting my mind going now that I'm taking the time to pour out my thoughts on it after visiting it again as an adult. As a kid I have fond memories of playing on the speed courses with the Ford GT on my brother's profile, and I remember really liking the Silvia S15, the speed built one. I also remember a pink Corvette for some reason lmao. This game may have a flaw here and there, but for being developed in what, a year? It's pretty solid, and it has absolutely aged well imo. I'm looking forward to playing through the rest of the game! :D
Also, even on the PS2 (which is what I'm currently playing it on) it looks really good considering the hardware it's on. Though pushed to the limit, it's still a very enjoyable experience. The framerate can be a bit sluggish at times though.

I played the fuck out of Pro Street on the PS2 and PS3. For me, just the vibe of being in the competitions with people, announcers, diferent cars waiting to drive was what sold me the game (specially since I was going to a lot of go karts, drag and pro/legal street races with my dad). Also, it really felt like you were touring the world and becoming the Street King. I would love (only can dream and hope for miracles) if EA remasters this game for new consoles or make a proper sequal.
Almost every game starts to "show its age" after some years, but I can't see that happening with PROSTREET anytime soon... Even after 13 years this game is awesome!

I remember it was the first NFS with damage but on my ps2 there was no visible damage it was a bit frustrating but it was one of the best NFS games
