I ordered a 2003 F-550 Crew Chassis with that 6.0L, 6 speed manual, 4.88 rear. Being a first year run on that model, it spent more time at Bayou City Ford in Houston in the first 6 months, than I had possession of it. It was popping injectors left and right. After about the 5th injector trip, Ford authorized an entire new set of new revised injectors, and I never had another issue with that truck and sold it at a little over 200 thousand miles. The truck had a 12ft flat bed on it and weighed about 10,500lbs and I pulled a 40ft gooseneck that weighed a little over 11,300lbs hotshot. It was a load hauling beast. I regularly hauled 20,000lb loads on the deck, and it cranked it down the highway like nothing.
Another near first year 6.0 experience, purchased new 2004 f350 cc lb 4wd. Multiple trips to dealer, mainly cleaning turbo and egr valve. Sold @ 58k in 2009 and then 2011 back into an 06 same model config and 6.0. Had 1 bad injector, and used regularly gray DK and discovered Archoil9100 with T5 10w30. Bought used at 129k and sold 206k. Maintenance and OEM filters are key, with archoil9100😊...tks Arod
I had soot raining down on the windshield at every stop sign on Beck Road. I had to laugh at the other drivers following me because there was so much smoke they couldn't see very well and they kept dropping back 5, 6, 8 car lengths behind me on the way😅. Great video. Thanks for fixing the Ex. Best wishes to you. 😊
You're the owner? Nice Excursion man! I love these things so much! I'd love to own one someday! Just gotta get the finances in order and maybe win a small lotto scratch off tix($1Mn!?!)💰💸👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩🦺
I have an 04 F350 6L and I've had my run of mechanics who don't know sh!t but thankfully found one locally who is good. I replaced all my injectors, my ICP, EBP, IPR, oil cooler twice (first place put in a jank unit) but thankfully now it's running good. I do a lot of work myself but it doesn't fit in my garage so I'm limited by the HOMAFIA haha!! She has been running like a champ for a while now since finding the local good mechanic.
Im watching from yokosuka japan.. Had to leave my 04' 6.0 ex back home.. I miss driving Ole girl.. She has 400,000 & still going strong, with factory head bolts..
Man I thought that thing was rod knocking when you first started it!🤦🏻♂️ I've always loved these Excursions, especially the super nice Limited Edition & Eddie Bauer ones. I've always wanted one and hopefully I'll be able to get one someday with a 7.3 or a 6.0. A nice black Limited edition one would be sweet. I like black colored vehicles the most, although theres a few other colors out there that i wouldn't mind having either. Someday....👍🏻👌🏻😄🛠️🔧🔩⚠️🦺🚧🏗️💨💰
Love the 6.0 Videos! My 05 F350 has been taking my boat to the ramp without fail since I bought her 3 years ago… oh and don’t ever take the LCF badge off your intro! I’ve got 2 of those as well, lol!
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I thought one of them was going to be RIP this year, but between you, and diesel tech Ron and bill hewitt, she is spraying lawns again! No one in town will work on LCFs anymore!
6.0 is very reliable if you just do some basic things to it. Plus the ability to tune and have a solid tow rig is night and day over the 7.3. Id rather a 5.9 all day over a 7.3
@@bobcatman334, i agree with the 6.0L being reliable once you fix all its shortcomings. Plus if it does blow head gaskets or what have you it is still rebuildable unlike the modern junk that’s just a throwaway engine.
That was the injector that went bad on my 05 6.0l, and my Arizona ARod did all 4 of them whilst he was in there a wrenching. Damn shame how Milwaukee did diesel tech Ron sent him a cease and desist letter from using that ratchet even though he was the reason a lot of us purchases the tool as soon as if one out about that I went to another brand
Aaron, a couple of questions: at 200k miles since you're already that far into it, would it have been prudent to replace the other 3 injectors or is their lifespan usually longer? Do you boost leak test when you pull a charge pipe loose normally?
Does the injector controller need programmed to the individual injector spray characteristic or did I miss that part? I kinda remember the "guy" in the Southern shop programming that information on his Silverado injector replacement. Thanks for the video.

I know 6.7’s are your bread and butter, but the 6.0 content is fun to watch. Especially your running dialog as you work the challenges out.

Ya. A shout out to Diesel Tech Ron. He was a valuable resource and an unfortunate tragic loss.

It is a real strong motor & usually problem free when not being hot-rodded. 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️

7.3s, distant 3rd....lololol
I would agree, 7.3's are slow as well as hp and torque numbers are very low. But I love the OBS body 👌🏻@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
How often do you suggest to change the fuel filters on the 2011 6.7
10-15k miles

Good question, that is ONLY for common rail HP fuel systems. This is old timer high pressure oil. Rip em out and slam then in, done.
What program is used to diagnose?
IDS
You need 1 of those over engine creaper instead of laying on top of rad.
Brother, had 1 of those 18 years ago. Garbage. Those do not allow me to get IN there. It keeps me to high above the engine.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARodyou just need a harness and hang from an engine hoist and have an assistant move you around and hand you tools and parts. 😅
