  • Got the lift pump installed and sink plumbed for a quick brew day.
    Here is the recommendation for the faucet. NOTE: it has a 12" faucet as well, check compatibility with your sink.

    Hey nice plumbing work. Maybe I missed it, did you mention making sure the section of drain pipe that goes a crossed the room is pitched towards the main drain. That’s a nice pump system and much quieter than I expected. Funny too I was looking at the floor and thinking “It doesn’t look like the epoxy is down?” Cheers man, looking great, sooo jealous 🍻🍻

    Nice install! As a warning to others, some plumbing codes don’t allow use of those vents, so you should check with your local inspector to see if they are legal in your area. Mine wasn’t so I have to run a full vent line outside.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  5 лет назад

      We have no code.. Lol I am in the country. No inspections either. Believe some of the stuff I have seen needs inspected!! Lol

      Those pumps won't work right with those air admittance valves. They need an open vent. Hope you didn't have any problems with the pump, I've had to remove them for customers before and run a regular vent to outside.

    How is the pump functioning I am working on doing an install using this pump and read right in the manual not to use a One Way Quick Vent or Air Admittance Valve for venting. Have you had any issues since installation?

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  4 года назад

      I have not had any issues. Well except for one. I am going to remove the vent because it does not allow the "pressure" to escape the pump housing. Which wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that if I have a full sink and drain it all at once. The floor drain becomes the vent and water starts coming up out of it! Lol not a huge issue but the vent does cause that. I think I will be fine with having a pipe up the wall and put a 180degree elbow on it for venting. Hope that helps! 👍🍻

  • @adammarcus8562
    @adammarcus8562 5 лет назад

    Nice work. I imagine you take your spent grain and hops outside and dump it. However unless you spray out everything out outside, you will probably get some spent grain, hop particle, yeast from fermenters, etc. passing through that pump. Is it rated to pass minimal particulate through it? The check valve also might get spent grain trapped and stick slightly open possibly. I saw you mention maintenance, would it accumulate inside the pump some how? Not being critical, just curious as I may be in need of this type of solution in the future. Cheer!

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  5 лет назад

      Good questions! The pump is rated for 3/8" Particulate matter. I will most likely add a fine screen in the sink drain to prevent grain from getting in the pump. The one way valve is pretty well designed. I hope I don't have any trouble with it time will tell and I will be reporting back on it for sure. Maintenance would be just cleaning out the pump housing to make sure it stays functional. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers Adam! 👍🍻

      From OH-IO too! I want to get the same pump, and after the brew is over i have a big trub/hop cone in my kettle. Can this pump handle washing all of that down the drain?? It can be up to 16 oz of used hops.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  4 года назад

      As long as it's not hop cones don't see why not.. I wash yeast and hops down my drain all the time no issue. 👍🍻

    I know this is an older video , but what did you use to connect the sink to the wall ? I got a very similar sink, but need to mount it , was wondering how you did to keep it from moving/tilting on the drainage side. Thanks!

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers

      There are holes in the flange on the top of the sink backsplash. I added blocking behind the sink prior to putting up the drywall etc. And use stainless screws directly into the wall..👍🍻

    Looks cool. But if I may (and I might be wrong) but it looks like you only used the purple PVC primer, and not the glue itself.
    The brand we use at work has a purple (primer) and a blue (glue) PVC setup.
    Just checking, in case you didn’t know.
    But then again, maybe in your part of the world they have a purple-colored PVC glue.
    Just throwing it out there.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers

      The main valves and everything are holding up great the only thing that I've had with a little bit of a leak is the valve that's above the main shut offs for the faucet. To choose between the sprayer or the faucet. Which is not really a big deal because all you have to do is just turn off the main hot and cold valves and nothing leaks. It's been good so far

      What he said.. Lol to elaborate a little more. The sewage drain in the basement (split level) is at about waist height, so I have to pump it up to the existing drain pipe. Also beause of the floor drain I had to put it below the floor height. 👍🍻
