Rallying is definitely an art

Everybody saying it takes balls of steel to be a rally driver, but what about the co-driver? I think it takes steelier balls to put your trust, life and wellbeing in another person's hands.
Takes a lot of trust! You'd need to be good friends with the driver lolol
Titanium
No, you only have to be suicidal. Suicidal coward can be a good co-driver.
I'd rather read a book, then see the narrowest roads in the world whipping past me at 200 kph.
instablaster.
One of the best rally onboards I've seen on RUclips
+AESCULAPTORmark3 Awesome to hear!
+Tor Andre Børresen
No worries .
Camera was placed perfectly. You can see both his steering and pedal inputs really clearly .
+AESCULAPTORmark3 Yeah that's good, but unfortunately the road got a bit bright. Didn't have a proper mount here so it was a bit hard to get it right, check out my latest video from the Anders Grøndal test as well :)
+Tor Andre Børresen
I never noticed any problems with this video. Looks spot on to me.
Thanks, i will go check out your other vid.
+AESCULAPTORmark3 I managed to adjust it slightly so it's ok :)
Best onboard in a long time - truly shows the courage and skill of these drivers. I love the wide angle, seeing the driver's hands and feet and the co-driver's notes while at the same time having a great view of the road. Excellent!
This is a really well made onboard. I would consider this WRC quality onboard.
Thanks! Didn't have the gopro app to adjust it properly, or a proper rollecage mount
I have the deepest respect for rally drivers. This driving here is insanely brutal. And props to the co driver. I can't even read a book while in a car going straight. Feeling sick after a few seconds :D
Most insane rally driver I have ever seen. Such skill and such grace
Watch some group b onboard. Those guys are crazy.
Even after all theses years, still the best onboard video EVER
And It's only a GP2 taped to the seat and sound from a GP1 😅
Absolutely awesome video. Love this style of onboard footage.
i need to play dirt rally after watching this
but with clutch and stickshift and a car from 90s lol
Watched this twice. One out the front window and one watching just the feet.
That's great footage. I like watching races from the cockpit. I'm a new subscriber. Thanks for doing great work!
The best onboard I've ever seen!
When you study the exam notes on the way to the examination centre. 😛
Wow just wow thank God things like this are allowed to be. These to guys dreams in this life came true and are made alive. I can’t imagine the amazing feelings they must feel doing this. The absolute glory And bliss
This discipline had always been awesome.
Thanks! I was supposed to have better sound here but my GP3 was suddenly out of battery so picture is from a GP2 and sound is from the GP1 on the a-pillar. The GP2 was connected to the intercom which dampens the sound a lot ski tried it like this instead.
Love the shots from rear camera!
This driver got skills....great video
Really nice onboard! Enjoyed it^^
Thanks! Camera pointed slightly too low so the road is a bit too bright though. Using the GOPRO app now so easier to set it up properly :)
WRC needs to watch and learn enough of the dashboard view crap. This is how an onboard should look like!
The best view from the onboard camera

Молодцы , парни ! Супер контроль !
If I was that rally navigator I would carry the papers to the driver and just puke the entire race
Thanks for the ride.....that was fun
Glad you enjoyed it!
Isso aqui é o sinônimo de Perfeição
Huge respect!
Very impressive driving!
This is why I loved ford fiesta
Awesome guys,,good job
Fantastic 😀
Que barbaridad a esa velocidad que desarrollan esas máquinas pareciera como que se detuviera el tiempo. Que bárbaro que piloto y que máquina ufff.
Put a camera also on the outside of the car...epic view while turning!
awesome video, great stuff drivers
Takes driving to a different level.
Pro rally drivers make it look easy. But i guess if you've been doing this for several years things would be intuitive and natural.
so clean and smooothhh
i dont think there is a crazyest sport than this
Excelente.........siempre el pie derecho......a fondo!
I have a question for someone who knows rally cars. So obviously this is a sequential shifter. But why do drivers still use the clutch from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear? Shouldn't the clutch only really be needed for launch and hairpin turns?
....still the best onboard video ever
3:45 my soul left behind
Amazing
do you press the clutch when shifting great video and skills btw
When he switches to 6th gear at 3:40... i would have shat my pants.
Felt like I was taking off... Lol the trees were a blur ahhahahaha awesome
How is this so stable! Amazing
Why is he using clutch for 1 and 2 gears ?
Where 2016? do you have?
There are actually some cars with sequential gearbox
EPIC!!!
Herlig video.
Notevole la qualità del video 👍👍👍🏁🏁🏁🏁
The driver is not using any clutch for shifting, then for what purpose is he using and why rarely? Any captain plz?
Well that guy has some fast hands and feet. Wow what a ride
Excellent brother
Absolute unit.
Que calidad de manejo, es increíble la agilidad 😲👌
3:37 wow
amazing
Как же мне нравится ралли! Просто супер! How I like the rally! Just super!
1:00 1:55 insane whistles
Perfect camera angle.
Write please is it hard to rotate the steering wheel on this car, do you need a lot of effort? Very interesting is the difference in effort with game steering wheels for car simulators.
Que adrenalina manejar así !!!
This is what my dad do when I'm late for my test and is still studying for it.
Nice on board with the actual engine sound! Are the gears longer than usual?
The sound is taken from an GP1 believe it or not! GP2 footage, i don't think so since this is an low speed event
The shifting is my favorite aspect in rally driving.
Staggering!
nice love wrc
very nice , on the edge all the time .....
Excellent
i have so much respect to rally drivers
2:24 3rd gear not changing to 2nd or 4th? anyone?
anyone can explain me how this clutch works? because i see the driver didn't push the clutch everytime
No need to use clutch after start normally, it just has a ignition cut when you change gear with the sequential gear box
Great onboard, thanks.
But a question: why is it necessary to use clutch to shift 3rd after the left hairpin at 1:44?
mugglerider to keep the engine higher in the powerband.
mugglerider after rewatching it again, he appears to be just respooling the turbo, it looks mor elike a clutch blip
Joe Dupuie mugglerider Just using the clutch in the lower gears to save the gearbox a little since it was a borrowed car on a low budget, they normally drove a Fiesta R2 at this point but moved up to a Fiesta R5 the next year.
Tor Andre Børresen Thanks for the info (both of you :). So it wouldn't be necessary to use clutch, but they try not to use the gearbox too hard.
Good luck for the R5...we are waiting for great onboards ;)
+Tor Andre Børresen wait, do they have a double clutch or so? i dont know that much about it :3, but how come they only have to use the clutch in the low gears? :3
Why do you occasionally step on the clutch on some gears?
ZPERO left foot braking
Еще раз убеждаюсь что пилот и штурман отмароженные на всю голову ребята с титановыми яйцами!!!😨🤘👍👍👍
Awesome
Porque pisa el embrague en algunas marchas??
Brawo... Best driver👍👍👍✊
My wrists hurt just looking at this!
Why does he only use clutch when changing between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears but not when switching between higher gears?
Just to save the gearbox a bit, rented and VERY expensive car!
Could someone tell me what the passenger exactly doing ? what is his job in the rally ?
He tells the driver how tight the turns coming up are (by telling him gear numbers e.g "right 3"), any bumps/crests, if the turns tighten or open, etc
Anybody share me this gearbox, plz
I could drive , even for 10hours . . but I'm not guarantee i can drive like this , it's to rare for normal driver to drive like this. . . appreciated to them. . .
my heart feels a live 😅😅
10/10 👍
Jet fighters and rally drivers has a ball.of steel
Any Idea of the average 'max' speed they were in those longs 6th gear ?
Not sure of the top speed on this one, but close to 200 kph normally
180-190 kph
Footwork, handwork, brainwork, all in one
Left one: actual me studying right one: when im day dreaming
can someone tell me why he flicks the wheel during braking/downshifting? is that just him countering the feedback from the wheel? or is it something with that car in particular. great run by the way, thanks for uploading :)
The thing about rally is that when you've gotten the basics mastered and have developed a technique it mostly comes down to feel when driving the car which means he is doing it automatically without thinking, the subconscious takes over and uses muscle memory to make judgments.
His hands moving as fast as they are and erratically is typical for fast stages with loose surfaces or portholes.
His body will be perceiving tyre slip so his hands subconsciously move to correct it through the learned behaviour.
To answer your question: when he brakes, the car will automatically begin to oversteer (fishtail) because the rear tyres have lesser load on them than the fronts and they can pivot more freely in the gravel, he is fighting to correct the car and is keeping it from spinning out.
If you watch tarmac rallies you will notice that this doesn't happen as much because the grip type is different and its all about being smooth - the road doesn't pull at the wheels and you are sliding much less meaning no need for corrections
DavidKFZ thanks for the reply. very interesting. :)
No problem, glad I could help
DavidKFZ wtf. You nailed it. It's quite obvious you know what you're talking about. Perhaps amateur rally driver?
I wish i could get to work this fast# hate traffic rush hour!!
Aku seperti sedang berkendara ❤️
I wonder how much slower would you go without navigator, I mean the feeling of speed from this on board camera view is insane compared to the viewers perspective
Maybe 30% slower depending how much you see
@@TorAndreBrresen That's quite a lot.
Bravissimo !
Grazie!
My jaw is on the floor maaaaaan
Why is he using the clutch from 1st to 2nd and 3rd gear and not for the rest??
The car itself won't break if he doesn't, but there is so much torque on these gears that if you don't clutch in you'll get a kick in the back. Probably better for traction as well.
For sequential transmissions it’s not required to use a clutch after takeoff
le son est pas loin d'une Polo R WRC
Really drivers are a different breed
very fun
