Yes, and the song is deeply insulting to Cersei (the’Lion in his [= Robert’s] bed’). It is basically implying she might have something to do with the previous king’s demise, calling her more murderous than the boar that killed her husband. So she is definitely not amused and neither is Joffrey.

Excellent reaction and discussion. And now we have dragons. Remember what the witch said, "Only death can pay for life." My opinion is that the witch's death (along with the fire) paid for the dragon's life. What she will do with them, Daenerys still has only a small handful of followers and is stranded in the wasteland. A long road to real power faces her.
Sansa is basically trapped. She has no support, and must keep both Joffrey and Cersei happy to survive. I found it interesting that the Hound basically saved her from a horrible death if she had pushed Joffrey off the rampart. His advice to her is basically the only way she will live through this.
One thing to remember, Tywin is all about the establishment of a family dynasty. I think he understood Tyrion is the only one who can, as he said, "bring that boy king to heel." Cersei obviously knows how to play the Game of Thrones better than most of the other players and was able to intrigue and manipulate to control the power and the Iron Throne, but has created a monster that will not obey her. My opinion (shown by his actions with the butchers boy) is that Joffrey is a sadistic psychopath and always had been even before he became king.
My favorite storyline to this point in Tyrion. From a powerless and maligned dwarf to acting Hand of the king.

A smaller, insignificant fact/correction to the overall story: the bard who had his tongue cut out was found by Lannister soldiers or loyalists singing that song in a tavern. They hauled him to Joffrey, who made him sing the song to him to essentially show his court the punishment for any mockery of his family.

  • @thecompendium9607

In an anything-goes scenario, Jamie wins in a heartbeat. Rob has never been in real one on one combat with a skilled opponent and, most importantly, he was taught to incorporate honor into everything he does. Rob would try to win, but Jaime would aim to kill. Also, please be aware that Jamie was not trying to to kill Ned when they fought. It was an ambush intended to defend Lannister honor, and to send the message that Ned was not safe in King's landing. And even then, Jamie had to flee the city to avoid King Robert's wrath. If Jamie had killed Robert's closest friend and brother of the woman Robert loved, the King would have had Jamie's head

Daenerys was born in Westeros on the day King's Landing fell, and immediately carried across the narrow sea by Targaryen loyalists. She has no memories of it, and it's not truly her home. She just thinks of it that way because Viserys brought her up with stories about it. In the books it's a little more complicated - when she says she wants to go home, she's never talking about Westeros, but about the first home she remembers having - a house with a red door in the free city of Braavos.
Did you catch that the point of the Grand Maester Pycelle scene was to show that he was faking being decrepit and doddery?

I think the general consensus is that Sansa was going to push Joffrey off - whether she was going down with him is a bit moot since even if she didn't, she'd have been executed.
And the skinny guy in bed with Cersei isn't Loras Tyrell - Loras lacks certain, er, attributes that are important to Cersei when choosing a lover. He's gay and he isn't a Lannister! That was the King's squire, Lancel Lannister. The one who served the wine during the hunt . . .

Jaime Lannister is considered one of the greatest swordsmen in the Seven Kingdoms and he is also bigger/stronger than Rob Stark. Jaime would defeat him even without weapons. The Hound is probably worse than Jaime at sword fighting, but he is a huge man he would beat up Jaime in a hand-to-hand fight.

Anybody that would go and there and try to invade would die. It's almost winter all year over there. You could go back there and bring Jaime there while you send men on mission to get Sansa out of there.
About the Lannisters, I love it everytime Tywin is on the screen. What a great character! About Jaime, he is the fer-de-lance of the Lannister dominance. Cocky and the best swordsman in Westeros. Not to be too harsh, but Jaime Lannister is worth much more than the two Stark girls because of the patriarchal nature of Westeros. Highborn girls are married off to make political alliances while highborn sons grow up to be lords and rulers themselves. Robb wanted to trade Jaime for Ned. The scene that introduces Tywin shows us that he's putting all the weight of the Lannister legacy onto Jaime so it is likely he would have agreed to the trade.

Dany called the Dothraki around her.
Fewer than a hundred were left. How many had Aegon started with? she wondered. It did not matter.
"You will be my khalasar," she told them. "I see the faces of slaves. I free you. Take off your collars. Go if you wish, no one shall harm you. If you stay, it will be as brothers and sisters, husbands and wives." The black eyes watched her, wary, expressionless. "I see the children, women, the wrinkled faces of the aged. I was a child yesterday. Today I am a woman. Tomorrow I will be old. To each of you I say, give me your hands and your hearts, and there will always be a place for you."
