Tywin has Arya eat his food to see if it’s poisoned. Not because he’s being nice

yeah, I like how it is easy to miss with Tywin and to see like "aw, he genuinely nice to her" :)
the man just ordered to burn villages as an intimidation tactic so that they wouldn't side with the brotherhood, why all of a sudden would he be just nice to some child of minor northern noble (as far as he understands) without any practical reason

I missed this completely for years, until I read a comment a while back. Now I feel for my dumb younger self, thinking how kind Tywin is.

@@markharris1125- I’m sure I missed on my first view. Even as many times I’ve seen the episodes and reactions to the episodes I still have ah-ha moments

Jamie was trying to get Catelyn to kill him, but he spoke a lot of truth at the same time.

That Tywin and Arya scene is one of the best of the season and one of my favorites to revisit. They’re back and forth is so interesting within the context of Arya’s situation

I love season 1, too. Season 1 and 4 are the best! After many rewatches, I think seasons 1-4 are the best TV I’ll see in my lifetime. (I’m old as dirt)

"Gods help you, Theon Greyjoy. Now you are truly lost."

Yes, you were right. Balon Greyjoy gave Theon away. But if he hadn't Ned would have taken him nonetheless. Theon was the only guarantee that Balon didn't start the war again.

“So many vows... they make you swear and swear. Defend the King. Obey the king. Obey your father. Protect the innocent. Defend the weak... what if your father despise the king? What if the king massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another.”
I truly believe that once, when he was a 16 yo teenager, Jaime admired all those great knights and tales about them and their glory/honorable deeds. At some point I guess he became disillusioned about all these oaths and matters of honor, from his perspective if it is taken within rules as written, is a bunch of horseshit that no one in their right mind can follow. Just like ser Alton found out that his hero, that one Lannister knight he looked up to, wasn't the man ser Alton thought he was (and Jaime used it as well). Not that I blame him for trying to escape tbh, or his analysis of what constitutes as “honor” in this world.
Robb situation changed pretty much after he was proclaimed King in the North by Greatjon Umber and his other bannermen. It became more than a war of vengeance for the Ned Stark or to get back his sisters. As Robb himself said, when Catelyn asked about the girls, that it is “more complicate than this”. Even if Lannisters had Arya at this point, or knew that she was with Tywin, exchanging two girls for Jaime wouldn't solve anything, it is war for independence, Robb is writing letters to Lannisters about dominion over the North and he was put in this position by his bannermen. He has to actually win now, for good, killing Tywin and probably Joffrey, there is no going back. And Northerners haven't had a king for 300 years, so it is kind of big deal.
This season sets up a lot for what is to come, for sure, not that it is without the climax episode itself. The chain of events that would affect a lot later on. Season 1 was almost a prologue, in a way, although it was more of meet the world, the players, etc. throught the eyes of some key characters.

Seriously great reaction... like you said, it's easy to tell its starting to click with you guys. Every character is complex, not just black and white.

I’ve been watching GOT reactions for years and you guys are my all time favorite! It’s the level of thinking I can relate to ❤

Thank you ! I am trying to be different in that regard. I write a lot and think in the mind of a writer a lot. So I come from a place of that mindset. We don't try to be like other reactors in terms of entertainment but I would like to believe we can make up for that in insights and deeply breaking down the worlds and lore. That's the kind of person I am personally not even on the channel. We will see how that goes for us in the future though. It seems that most of the people who watch reactions really just want the entertainment and the big explosive reaction. And less about what they have to say. At least its what I am seeing.

Becca Here.. I thank you for that! As it was said, were not the most explosive, but I enjoy to go deeper meanings about plots.

I'm always puzzled that people don't know who took the dragons. They literally showed a figure in brown robes taking the dragons towards a tower. Who else could it be?
I love the way that Pyat Pree (the warlock) starts speaking with a Scottish accent when confronting Dany. (Ian Hanmore is Scottish and reveals his accent here and there. You half expect him to say, "Come and see the wee bairns!")
That scene between Cersei and Tyrion is beautiful. I don't know if they were directed this way, or whether Lena and Peter did it themselves, but you can see her thinking that her brother isn't as bad as she pretends, and he begins to see in her what Jaime sees. In a modern show they'd probably hug.
Great reaction as always. On to the analysis!

The thing with that is we never saw the house of the undying before that scene with the dragons being taken there. They do say the name of the place. But they do implicitly state that it is the location they took them. In hind sight it's obvious though.
      Thanks for watching
