    I guess you could say Auxiliary forces complement the Tau perfectly "as god intended" they themselves are immune to chaos, but their auxiliary forces power up their believes with their souls as well as their bodies, and thus you can have "the best of both worlds" working together.

    • @bigbangrafa8435

      Considering 40K is moving into a new meta of "Weaponized Faith", that might be truth. Also, by having a God to pray for the Tau also get the bonus of them not falling into chaotic corruption, in a similar way to the Imperium. It's a very dangerous and unpredictable thing to meddle with, but considering their whole Empire is basically inside the most genocidal faction in the galaxy I say It's worth the risk.

    The Tau empire has lost Farsight and now Shadowsun is questioning the leadership. The Tau are not in a good way.

    • @carlzerris6566
      @carlzerris6566 10 месяцев назад +14

      The question is where it goes from here. The Tau are able to survive because they are just small enough to not be a big enough threat to be actively taken out, but big enough that taking them down would be a drain on resources no one can really afford right now. The worst case scenario is they basically go down a 'horus heresy' route with a massive civil war. The best case scenario is that Shadowsun and farsight ally with like minded etherals (its heavily implied that the likes of Aun'shi is sympathetic to their ideals) to take down the ethereal caste from within and restructure the empire. Thing is, while they are always in danger, the Enclaves are thriving. It can be done. Either way though, it leaves the tau open to attack.

    • @eichler721
      @eichler721 10 месяцев назад +7

      @carlzerris6566 ya the new Arks of Omen shows how weak the Enclaves are in respect to the factions in the Galaxy. They are doing well a single Necron Overlord or any Chaos Legion Astartes who wants them dead they are dead no questions, a splinter fleet of the Tyranids and they are likely dead. Huge Ork Waaaaagh and they are destroyed. Really the Eldar who don't care, Drukari who just raid occasionally and there are far better targets even in Tau space and GeneStealers they are insulated from as the first 2 just don't want that fight and the third struggles to infiltrate the Tau setup. As for the Imperium they are just a blip and as long as they don't become a major annoyance they have minor conflicts as far as the Imperium is concerned but still for the Tau. Luckily the Imperium doesn't even really know about the Enclave and as long as the Tau don't give them a reason then they are fine. So I am curious how GW will take the story.

      Continued T'au schisms could be a really good, or a really bad thing. I feel that it all depends on their future political discourse just as much as their military success.
      They have a serious chance to simultaneously grow stronger, more numerous, and more diverse.
      But regardless, I SERIOUSLY doubt that GW will just let them die.

  • @TheCoolParnell

    I like this idea. The T'au themselves aren't strong enough for their combined belief in the Greater Good to have a tangible impact on the real world, but those other races in the Tau empire, who too believe in the Greater Good, can.
    It's kinda the ultimate embodiment of Tau diplomacy and disposition to friendship. Because so many others believe in the Tau, a god has been created based on those common ideals that unite Tau, vespid, kroot, human, and more: the Greater Good. It's a god that can only exist because the Tau are the only faction which chooses friendship over the sword.

      Better than the imperium? Eldar made Slaneesh, the others were around even before that - they are not of the imperium’s making, they are not an equivalent to a Tau god - if you want an Imperial equivalent, you’d have to look at the master of the Legion Of the Damned, not it’s commander within the unit, the being they answer to, the one which performs miracles for the Imperium (namely the Adeptus Sororitas)
      Many people believe the Emperor will become this being, this warp god, and if he will become it, like Slaneesh, he has been it throughout time, even if his past mortal body still lives his time bound life

      While the jury is still up on whether the Goddess Tau'Va is good or evil, there are entities of order within the immaterium, but unlike their Chaos counterparts are not as strong and try to not interact as directly as the Chaos gods or true Chaos forces try to do the material plane.
      Also the Eldar Gods and indeed Gork and Mork prove that powerful warp entities need not be corrupting to be extremely powerful and indeed seek to aid their originators.
      Gork and Mork are semi-passive Gods, but they have fought all the other Chaos Gods at one point or another, just for the sake of the fight, but that is their nature.
      In this way, the Goddess Tau'Va has been created of the idea of the greater Good, that is a positive and helpful umbrella, that aids all in their time of need and is genuinely good in nature.
      Being an amalgamation of all these races idea of what is "good" Tau'Va seems to be so far a benevolent Goddess.
      She aided the 4th Sphere expansion forces in their time of need and created the Startide Nexus to aid in the spread of the Greater Good to other parts of the galaxy.
      This is of course self-serving to her nature of continuous growth, but it is a benevolent act. Similarly, the destruction of the Death Guard fleet is a benevolent action as it destroys a danger to it's "children" or "charges" and no one knows it has happened.
      Also her conversation with Shadowsun is one of assistance and counsel, more than forceful corruption, which is the Chaos Gods modus operandi and yet it could also be said to be duplicitous in the way the Ethereals are, yet it serves only to help the Tau grow as a species and spread its message far and wide.
      Again, we still don't know how the Goddess Tau'Va will be when she fully awakens, but so far it appears more helpful and benevolent than evil.

      Yes, they are very few and far between, but they exist or can come into existence.
      The Warp (immaterium) being a mirror for all emotions, should have more order or good aligned beings (and of great power as well), but in order to maintain the Grimm Derp universe, these are rarely if ever mentioned.
      In this Tau'Va (so far) appears to be the first major departure from the Chaos dominated immaterium to one more balanced (or at least not explicitly evil all the time).
      Also the Emperor emerging as a (possible) nascent warp god of order and Humanity would change the warp forever and create a balance of sorts between order and chaos (not necessarily good and evil, because order tends to be unchanging and chaos is inherently self-destructive).
      Time will tell what will happen with the story of the Goddess Tau'Va and if she can generate some change in the warp or not.

      @painlord2k 11 месяцев назад +5

      The forming of an Warp entity is probably an a-temporal thing.
      They exist, never born, but they can manifest only if there is enough people believing/thinking them.
      Probably Taul'va was just able to intervene for Shadowsun at the time, as the Tau were a small race.
      As soon as their empire got bigger and started incorporating other, more psychic races, the people believing the Taul'va increased in number and power.
      Also, more ritualistic is the Greater Good ideology in the Tau Empire, more it strengths the warp entity incarnating it.
      What, probably, makes the Imperium possible is the Emperor. He is able to channel the faith and belief of the population and contrast the Chaos Gods.
      The Tau don't have one Emperor, so their warp entity is not based on the Materium and it is way weaker compared to the Emperor.

    11:28 On the topic of the Deathguard coming to the Tau Empire, imagine if Mortarion decides to join to vent his frustration. I imagine it would go something like this…
    Shadowsun looked on a the horrifying abominations advancing towards her. For all the firepower they had, all the hits they took they would not stop moving. As if they were immune to damage. ‘What are these things’ she wondered to herself, ‘These tainted Gue’vesa?’ She would not get to ponder for long. For then a voice rang out… “XENOS!” All attention was turned to were the vice came from. And what they all saw stunned every Tau fighter present. It was a Gue’vesa. On of the tainted ones, but much more than that. It was enormous. At least 20 feet tall, with moth like wings, a torn cloak, massive scythe, clad in the green rustic infected style armor as the rest and, like many Gue’vesa, wore no head protection of any kind. It was reminiscent of the the Astarte chapter master that the empire killed in the Damocles Gulf war. But the comparison didn’t do the being justice. It was as more that chapter master was to this being what a normal Astarte, or even basic Gue’vesa, was to a chapter master. In fact, in perhaps a in a ironic twist of both fate and history repeating, had it not been tainted she would have assumed that such a person could *only* be the Emperor that the Imperials go on and on about. Just like with the Chapter Master all those years ago.
    But then the being spoken once more…
    “I am Mortarion! Primarch of the Death Guard, Champion of Nurgle, Lord of the 14th legion, and Son of the Emperor.” That last part caught Shadowsun’s attention. Son of the emperor? If this is his son, what was he like? “Rejoice, for your suffering and misery has come to a blissful end. For I spread upon you the gifts of the the unholy grandfather himself.” As he spoke green mist spread out from his being and onto the closest front line combatants. They screamed in agony and pain all the while physically melting and turning to literal mush of meat and bones. Never in all her years had the commander see such horror. “Do not cry” the gaint continued, “You not dying, it is merely the consequence of rejecting the Plague father’s embrace. Embrace Nurgle, join our family, embrace his love, accept his gifts, and You will know no pain. No more suffering, no more loneliness, no more death. Only euphoria, acceptance, love, peace, and happiness. For Poppa Nurgle loves us all for who we are, and all you need to do is love him back and you too be part of a world of truly pure perfection.”
    Shadowsun was no fool. This “Mortarion” was a liar. His words may be honeyed and sweet, but his actions showed the truth. He was no herald of a benevolent god, but a reaper of souls. Shadowsun looked at her troops and saw a horrifying sight as some began to mutate into a similar form as the invaders. They were weak willed and sought the easy way out. Turning their backs on the Greater Good. But to the Tau commander there was only one choice too make. Calmly, she rose her arm, aim her cannon at the Tainted Gue’vesa leader, and fired at him. "Never" she yelled, 'I will never lower myself! I am Shadowsun and I serve only the Greater Good!" The shot hit him square in the upper chest. And didn’t even register as a speed bump. “So you have chosen death” the one called Mortarion replied. “We offered you friendship and you spit in your face. Well then, let me enlighten you as to what happens to those who reject Nurgles gifts.”
    “I have faced your kind before, Human” Shadowsun said in Gothic. “I know how to face Astartes.” Mortarion just laughed. "You may have met a space marine chapter before Shadowsun” he said gleefully, “but you've never met a Legion."
    Imagine Mortaion sounds like John Noble's Scarecrow from Arkham Knight. And Shadowsun sounds like FemShep from Mass Effect.

    Great video!
    I find it odd tho, that the psychically more "well-endowed", Warp-knowing/sensitive races who are Tau allies, such as the Nicassar and Kroot (and indeed, Human Gue'las) wouldn't have some Gellar Field or equivalent technology/knowledge to contribute to the Tau 4th Exp Sphere, potentially mitigating the consequences of unprotected Warp-play? 😅

    • @fennec428
      @fennec428 11 месяцев назад +9

      My guess is they have no clue how Gellar fields work, and Tau can't reengineer it since they don't have anywhere near that much awareness of the warp. After all, why would Mechanicus ever support the Tau? It goes against everything their creed offers

    • @jeffy1862

      I think there's been a little bit of confusion on what I was originally going on about, lol: not how or why the Tau specifically lack a Gellar-equivalent as a product of their own science, but rather the curious oversight of something like Gellar Fields developed by their client/vassal races with greater psychic presences, such as the Kroot, Nicassar, or Demiurg. All three have knowledge of the Warp and Warp drive technology from before their entry into the Tau Empire, one could thus safely infer *they'd* have to have something like a Gellar Field to protect themselves, you know?

    Hi, late to the party. I find this Tau'va story very interesting because I'm pretty sure the writers got inspiration from real life Buddhism history. The Tau'va goddess really like Thousand Hands Guan Yin Bodhisattva.
    The belief & emphasis of Bodhisattva saviour was born out of social upheaval and war. This belief was very popular in Northern India, large part of central Asia, then China. It was a prominant belief in Mahayana Buddhism which Theravadan Buddhism doesn't share.
    So... if the writers stick to India Buddhism history idea, I'm quite sure Tau would not suffer their version of Horus Heresy. It's not conflict free of cause. I don't believe Buddhism didn't have civil war between the sects but so far as I know, the war was so least vicious, it's largely ignorable.
