I have never liked the Superman/Wonder Woman pairing. To me, it's just to predictable. What I have liked is a Batman/Wonder Woman pairing. Wonder Woman has been portrayed as an idealist, a shining beacon of hope. So she can appear naive (please correct me if I'm wrong on that, I haven't read the comics and am fine with being wrong). Batman sees the reality and knows that not everyone can be saved. On the other hand, Batman is a dark, vengeful form of justice. And after living in this dark world, the darkness has almost completely consumed him. Wonder Woman could help him live beyond his crusade, to allow some light back into his life. This relationship was teased in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited TV shows, but I would like it if it became a part of the main continuity. Am I alone on this?

Abie Elfenbaum no you're not. But I do ship him with Talia and her with the modern version of Steve Trevor. I believe they briefly had a WonderBat relationship or almost had one in Kelly's Justice League run, but he diminished Diana to emasculate Bruce.

Its sort of a "yes and no" kind of situation. Both (as well as some other heroes like shazam and Mmanhunter) basically have infinite strength. they aren't he kind of characters where the writers say "ok, they can lift 50 tons, and that's it. never more than 50 tons. hard limit". They will always be as strong as the story demands them to be.
So yeah, she's as strong as superman because they both have infinite strength...But supermans feats of strength typically beat WW's unfortunately. I've heard of stories where WW lifted the equivalent of 1/3 of the earth or something like that. OK, superman has moved the entire earth before and at one point basically bench pressed the equivalent weight of the earth for 5 days straight
Its situations like that which cause the "she's strong, but not superman strong" kind of arguments. Basically if she wants to be seen as his equal in strength, she needs to
-hold a black hole in her hands
-bench the earth/move the earth. preferably with as little effort as possible. If she strains too much people will go "supes didnt strain that much!"
-get into a fight with an alternate universe version of herself that has the force of their blows tearing apart reality/destroying the universe/etc.
If she doesnt do stuff like that, she'll always be second string.
Hahonryuu - If Superman can do all that and Wonder Woman can fight on equal terms with Superman, it follows that she's equal to Superman. Wonder Woman is not a feat-driven character, her feats consist of beating powerful adversaries as opposed to "bench-pressing the Earth"
Not necessarily true since you can beat someone and not be as strong as them. Also, its always going to be writer dependent. You have some writers who treat character X as the end all be all, and others that treat the same character like crap. So no, just because some writers depict her as being his equal/beating him doe snot mean she is capable of the same things
In another example, someone who trains their body to be a able to break lifting records but never learned to fight can be beaten in a fight by a martial arts master who is clearly weaker than them. Not that the martial artist is weak, but clearly not as strong as the super lifter.
I'm not implying superman doesn't know how to fight, simply that WW is one of the best hand to hand combatants in the DC universe. So her being able to fight someone, in theory, stronger than her doesn't mean she is capable of the same thing
Lastly, keep in mind what I said. I was not saying she was weaker or wasn't capable of such feats. In fact I put her in the same "infinity" class as superman. I was simply stating that the general public probably wouldn't accept her as being as strong until she does comparable things.
I mean for gods sake, we're speaking about a fanbase who fairly consistently says batman can beat all these godlike beings. But him being able to beat these gods (in theory) doesnt mean he's as powerful as them. Thats why your "but she has shown to be a match for him in a fight" logic doesn't quite pan out. Plenty of technically weaker people have beaten/are capable of causing lots of problems for him. I mean, his arch nemesis is a normal (albeit genius) human being. That's the biggest thorn in his side...a weak ass human.
Again, I'm not saying she CAN'T do these things or isn't his equal, simply that your reasoning for it is flawed. This isn't like a manga where from beginning to end it has 1 writer. These characters have new writers and continuities all the time. Their strength level fluctuates massively over the years. Original superman couldn't even fly.

Every time Hippolyta has appeared in things like Hercules the Legendary Journies, Xena the Warrior Princess and A Midsummer Night's Dream, her name has been pronounced \hi-ˈpä-lə-tə\. Both those shows had actual greek mythology scholars to help with things like pronunciation. Arris is terrible at pronunciation and has admitted as much in the past. I get really annoyed with some of the (male) RUclips reviewers I've seen so far. My brother sent me one hosted by an egocentric, barely articulate moron and he was just plain insulting. He obviously had no care for this DC character and felt obligated to submit a review for clicks.
Some RUclipsrs even feel the need to mention bewbs and physicality. Yes, I have a sense of humour and maybe much of it is tongue-in-cheek but I don't even think a gay woman would talk this way, why? Because she may or may not find Gal Gadot attractive, but she has respect for her gender and doesn't want to insult her fellow women by being so superficial. And she likely has been that little girl pretending in the playground to be WW, has read the comics, watched the cartoons and understands her character. Unlike the guys thinking with their crotches.
William Moulton Marston saw women's strength in their tenderness, kindness, nurturing, but within they had a core of steel, and really DID and DO run the world. He wanted (the then very intolerant and sexist) society to see what he did. Have things really changed, 70+ years later?
The female voices I've heard reviewing her movie have been better-informed about Wonder Woman's creation, history and evolution, what she symoblises, but maybe I need to see more reviews to have a more balanced opinion.
But for now.....sigh.
And yes, i did see the ludicrously crass Dorkly WW review everyone was so up in arms about. Then I discover it's a (not very well written or even that amusing) spoof article. The sad thing is, if you don't know the site (I don't) then you first approach it as a skewed, sick opinion by some raging, frustrated, inarticulate man-child.
The dangerous part is there are some guys who don't or won't understand irony and it chimes with very real opinions they have about women.
So that just evokes another big sigh from me.
I'm not immune to sick jokes, when they are clever and make me think a little more, and I know the writer's TRUE self and opinions, but, not this.
I will also add (I know, talking to myself) that I did enjoy this RUclips clip. Gives a great potted history of WW and even recommends some comics to seek out, something you don't see that often. And this reviewer actually seems excited to see the movie! Yay!

I feel Diana is definitely powerful enough to be as powerful as Superman. The time she fought Superman while he was under kind control, he thought she was Doomsday and he thought Doomsday had killed Lois. As you can imagine he was really pissed off. Even Diana stated that he was holding nothing back and going all out on Diana (whom he thought was Doomsday). Diana was literally holding back the whole time because she knows that he is not the enemy. She survived being attacked by a bloolusted Superman. She even cut his throat. She is strong enough to really hurt and even beat him.
What happen to this long lost brother of hers.
Rossie Taylor - she found them. I hated that whole story arc. It was blasphemous to what William Marston wanted for Paradise Island. I wish everyone would for get New 52. I was never so happy when they came out with Rebirth.

I uhhh...i liked the court of owls! and, ummm...
I will say this. New 52, on some level, did its job. While I had watched various cartoons and stuff growing up and watched the reeves superman and burton (and shoemaker. and yes, that's on purpose. I'm not going to look up how to spell that bastards name) batman movies, I hadn't ever really read comics. It felt so overhwelming. i mean you hear about these characters being around for like a million years and it just makes you go "where do I begin!?!?!?". its intimidating. Especially hard when its hard for me to even look at a lot of the art from the 80's and 90's comics. Most either looking a tad too....old for me (the 80's and pre-80's.) or I thought the costumes and character designs of the 90's looked dumb as hell (screw you rob liefeld!). not all mind you, but that's the general gist of my opinion at the time. any exceptions seemed to be just that, exceptions...not the rule.
So hearing about a reboot sounding like a good start off point for me. And, alternate media aside, these were my first exposure to the world of super hero comics. And i admit most of it was either boring, overly complicated, or just straight up dumb. But they did at least get me interested. I continued to read ones i liked and did research to find more. I read wiki articles and read/watched comic reviews and became invested in the comics themselves.
Mind you much of my love came from how much I found my research lead me to see the contradictions. i liked what I saw because I saw how different pre-new 52 stuff was hahaha. Maybe the new 52 had set my standard so low that finding out all the other stuff was like a breath of fresh air. It was like i was trapped ina desert without water (new 52) for days and then stumbled upon water (pre-new 52). the water may or may not be safe to drink, but it was better than not having the water at all. and there was definitely some poisonous bacteria ridden trash in parts of the water, thats for sure -_-...but I was still grateful for the water :). Actually, learnign about the characters and stories of the past made me dislike the new 52 more lol. Now it wasnt just boring/bad characters and boring/bad stories, now it was contradictions and ruining perfectly good stories.characters of the past!
I'll take innocent kind and pure hearted billy batson over a billy batson who's first thought after being turned magically into an adult is to buy beer, thank you very much =/. its actually kinda funny. captain marvel/shazam became one of, if not my favorite characters after doing research and reading some past stories where as my first impression of him in new 52 was "wow...this kids a fucking prick". then later i learned "omg he's the nicest kid ever! why would they do that to him!" xD
So thank you new 52. you created a fan even though you yourself sucked (mostly)

Again though, it's obvious your answer was to indicate that you are heterosexual and attracted to women. But are you attracted to an old woman or an ugly woman? As far as how you think and your interests you are saying you have more in common with women and think more along the same lines or have the same mindset/mentality more then men? That is the real question, because straight men and women often think and perceive things very differently and have different interests. So you would rather be around or get along with and have the same interests as a group of women who you were completely not attracted to than a group of men, right?

A lot of heroes have had the problem of being overpowered throughout the generations. While I like to subscribed to Superman being the "strongest", others like Wonder Woman and Captain Marv-- uh, Shazzam, have magic based powers that do give them an advantage, and Flash is way faster, and Batman is smarter, usually by way of Mary Sue-age, but good writers can make it believable.
The amazons being murdering rapists that discard their sons, is one of the worst things the New 52 did, but coming from the guy who wrote the Batgirl prologue of TheKilling Joke . . . Why is he still writing female characters?

I liked Wonder Woman's New 52 Origin of being a Demigodess which I think should be her Prime Origin Permanently as I never really bought into the whole Magical Clay Origin although I would have tweaked the New 52 Origin a wee bit. Instead of Zeus being her Father I would have made Hades her Father as I liked the idea of it and how it was subtly implied in The Justice League Animated Series. Imagine then the conflict in her story being the daughter of the Dark Greek God of the Underworld

They need a remake of the animated jl. They made them look weak in the dcau. Superman&Batman alone could destroy every villain, but you got the MARTIAN whos as strong as superman, wonderwoman whos a female superman, and the flash. Thats mass destruction right there

Before the New 52, I heard because Wonder Woman's bracelets were made from Zeus's shield that she was able to release lightning from them. Then a few months ago, I heard WW writer Marc Andreyko say WW is able to release lightning from her lasso. Neither of which I myself have ever seen in the comics. Now that her origin has been changed to be Zeus's biological daughter, it's speculated that in the new Wonder Woman movie that we'll see Gadot as Wonder Woman will have the power of lightning, especially from what's been shown in the trailers.
Is any of that true? Has Wonder Woman ever had the power of lightning in the comics? And in the comics has she ever had the power to create a sonic boom from her bracelets as was shown by Gadot in BvS and in the WW solo movie? Thanks in advance.
You know what I learned recently, that you can't introduce Green Lantern or the Emotional Spectrum in the DC movie Universe, Why?

If Diana and Superman were to actually fight even though superman is likely stronger and a bit faster, I still feel Diana would win. She is a fighting master, with a brilliant mind. Superman seems to be I'll just over power you and hope for the best as seen with his fight in Batman vs superman. All he does is try to fly in and over power doomsday, where as Diana litterally uses strategy and actual fighting prowess to battle the brainless brute.
Superman is powerful indeed, but if it were to comedown to the two of them I would give Wonder Women the win.
