    Hi everyone, all details are in the description.

  • @Scrottobaggns

    Came out great, well done. Working on my first right now. I have the outer cabinet shell mostly done and the base/w caster wheels. Still haven't decided on a theme yet. I am using the design on Project Mames website so should be pretty much the same as yours. My only regret is using plywood instead of MDF.

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  6 лет назад

      Oh and see if you can lock your wheels...I find that when I invite people over to play they get a bit crazy and the whole arcade moves and shakes (since I don't have wheels it's not too bad) but the problem I found was that the power cords and stuff get moved cos people shake it so much! If you are stuck for themes I suppose you can always pick a game that you loved when you were growing up?

    Great job, and great video. If you plan to build another one, and I am sure you will get friends begging you to build one for them, one thing you might want to do is build a very simple circular saw jig, specifically for your circular saw. It will have 0 clearance, and make perfectly straight cuts. Since there are no curves in your design it would be perfect for you, and save you time. One of the best tutorials on You tube is by Austin Denherder called How to build a Track saw. Again, nice work.

      haha awesome, that was my first idea, to make mine a polybius machine, I downloaded all the "alleged" polybius art complete with the 1981 property of US govt. tag but opted to go with a regular theme instead.

      Great! Just msg me here if you need any help! :) Some of the things I wish I did was put wheels on the bottom or at least a base plate so that I can slide it around better...it still slides but we like to move stuff around the house so much that this became a chore each time we had to move the machine!

    Amazing job,
    just wondering (because im to lazy)
    how much did this all cost you, not including the pc,

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  9 лет назад +3

      Requence Buddez Hi, the whole project costs around 300-400 dollars AUD, depending on what type of material u get. For example, you might not want the perspex monitor cover or the led marquee lights. You also might not want a coin door or stickers. However, I thought if I'm going to build one of these things I'm going to give it that "WOW" factor when my friends walk in the door :D

      Arcade Obsessed Yea, they're not too bad...just have to communicate. As I said in the desc, their upload option on the site is not that crash hot but you can email them the files using something like www.mailbigfile.com/

      @ArcadeObsessed 9 лет назад

      Yeah it's pretty hard getting someone to finish your vision so I totally understand what you mean I really want side art on my cab and I've put a couple of designs together I have no idea what size images these large format printers require

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  9 лет назад +1

      You might need photoshop to do your pics. I used a copy of photoshop elements which is pretty cheap for casual graphic work. The trick is, to find an image that is at least 300dpi (dots per inch/pixels per inch). When you look at it on the monitor, it might look nice but if there arn't enough pixels/dots per inch when printed, the print will be very blurry or pixlated. If you right click your graphic file, (on windows) and click properties, then details, you will see how many DPI the file has. Most web images only have 72 and that's not nearly enough for a big job like this. If you need help with the files just let me know here and I'll try my best to give you a hand. www.vsellis.com/understanding-dpi-resolution-and-print-vs-web-images/

      Hey I have download the photoshop elements, do you have an email address to discuss further if that's ok with you or you can email me privately through RUclips as I have subscribed to you, I want to know how to create an outline of my cab in real world measurements so then I can start putting layers within the boundaries so I don't make any mistakes and not only that to get a rough idea what it would look like one the cab, I really appreciate you help on this cheers

    You don't need a shop to do all of this, right? I have been thinking of getting into this project but I was turned down because I have seen other guys with nice shops and tools which I don't have, so I though my most feasible option was to buy one already done.
    After seeing your video, I feel encourage to do it and getting the materials for this project.
    great video

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  7 лет назад +1

      nope! Not at all. I did this all in my own garage and all I used was a circular saw and a router. If you don't have a circular saw I guess you could cut it by hand if you're patient enough! If you want to do the rubber edgings you will def need a router...other then that, it's all for show!

    • @badboo82
      @badboo82 7 лет назад

      Sounds good. I will see if I can borrow these tools from a friend, if not, then I can buy them and keep them for other future projects at home.
      Thanks, I saved this video to use it when I start this project. :)

      I don't have a truck to haul a 4x8, so i found plans online. Then got home depot to make the cuts for me. They will only make straight cuts. But it was good enough to get it down to 6ft so it fit in my car with the back seats down. Then you just need space to work with that 6ft x 3ft ish piece. You don't need a huge amount of room.

    Hi mate, great video and awesome build !!!!!
    I will be starting to build my arcade cabinet with a 42" lg led tv soon just currently collecting things for the build at the moment.
    I have my buttons and ipac2 from Chris at Ozstick He's a awesome guy with lots of knowledge He has my Pc right now installing hyperspin and setting the thing up for me as I am not really computer savvy.
    Just wanting to know what the price is roughly for the side art and control panel artwork set you back?
    And the t-slot cutter did you get that from Bunnings can't seem to find one there or online?
    the darn thing is expensive!!!!
    Regards Imglobl from Melbourne

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  8 лет назад

      Hey, wow cool 42" that's massive! Chris is awesome too btw. Ok so here's the website I went to to do the prints and u can do an instant price quote on this page for the large format self adhesive media (choose 1 year - it just means it lasts in the sun without fading for 1 year - I've had the stickers for over a year now and they still look like they're brand new since I have it in the house with no sun) www.sydneyprint.com.au/shop/large-format-print-vinyl-225.html
      The T-slot cutter is actually a router with a T-slot cutter bit...that one is a little pricey so I borrowed a mates. You can find them here: www.bunnings.com.au/ultra-6-4-x-4mm-slot-router-bit_p6373483
      From memory, pick the size that you need for your T-Molding...the tricky part is hammering it in because they come rolled up in a circle. I think maybe soften them up with some heat first it would be alot easier...in anycase, it's not impossible. Hope that helps!

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  8 лет назад

      PS - at the time of buying the prints, I used their website to upload the artwork (I found that the upload system doesn't work really well), I ended up having to email (with www.sendbigfiles.com/ ) so probably get the quote from the website, then email them the artworks.

    • @imGlobL
      @imGlobL 8 лет назад

      +Meet the Tings hey mate,
      Yeah 42" should be awesome found it on gumtree for $200 in A1 excellent condition! Just hoping I don't go blind hahahaha.
      TV switches back on like a pc monitor when switched off from the mains so that master/slave power board at Bunnings is a shoe in. Once I have the pc plugged into the master socket and tv,logitech speakers and marquee led lights into their slave sockets And that pc is switched on boom everything will turn on like a real arcade machine one press on off button
      In regards to the art work I plan on using a local print shop around my area. That way I can go into more detail with salesman I'm more of a walk in type of person!
      Is there a particular site you looked up or did you just google and save the art work and took it from there.
      I bought a 1/2" router a week ago just that slot cutter bit I need will suss it out at bunnings definitely.
      T-moulding will be 18mm as mdf will be also

    • @imGlobL
      @imGlobL 8 лет назад

      +Meet the Tings I tried the zippy/sanwa style joysticks awhile ago on a bar top setup I found them quite loose and not what I'm used to.
      Growing playing pinnies here where the mca joysticks that were standard across all arcade machines but man, $40 a pop!!!
      So I have 2 IL eurosticks from focus attack in USA ready to go come time to build. And also bought e switches from them man what a difference compared to the standard switches that come with the buttons there excellent and a lot lighter to press for button mashing!!!!!

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  8 лет назад

      I used all the cheaper joysticks because I also grew up playing those and I like the "harder" feel of the buttons and the joysticks! I just got them from google but you can see where I got them from on the description of this video...I've put links to everything I've done. You have to post something up when you're done and show off!

    What was the estimated total cost for this project?

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  8 лет назад +1

      Without the PC and monitor, you're looking at around 400aud. The pc and monitor was my old comp so the price has already deprecated a bit but otherwise i would say around 1000 if you are putting everything from scratch.

    Hey i built my machine, but still dont know how to wire/connect the coin acceptor. Can you please help me?

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  9 лет назад

      If you bought the same coin machine as mine, then it will need a 12v power. You can get a few types of adapters but the easiest thing to do, if you are using an old computer like me, is to find the power supply unit in your computer. (Before you do any electrical work, please be aware, the advice im about to give you is from my own experience and not that of a professional). The way i connected my 12v coin slot was to take my psu (power supply unit) from my computer and find one of the wires that had only a yellow and black wire on it. The yellow wire for me, was the 12v wire. The black one is the ground wire. On the coin adapter, the black was the ground and the red was the 12v. There was also a grey one and that goes to the keyboard emulator, coin 1...much like how you connected your buttons. Once i found the yellow and black from the psu, i stripped a bit off the end of all wires. I connected the red to the yellow and black to black. You join with elec tape or connectors.

    • @OldSakuGamer
      @OldSakuGamer 9 лет назад

      +Meet the Tings Thank you so much for even replying. I connected my coin acceptor to a 12V adapter or whatever but do i just put the coin signal out to coin 1 port? No need to connect ground on keyboard encoder(ipac)

    • @MeettheTings
      @MeettheTings  9 лет назад

      Np, love to help. If you've connected the 12v to an adapter, make sure to connect the ground too. I dare say you should've connected it the 12v adapter's ground but i think as long as it's going to one ground or another it's ok. (don't quote me on that last one!) But def need to connect to ground.

    I have found this wood working book “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) suitable for me. Not only does it cover wood working techniques, but it even explains the development cycles of trees that lead to the characteristics that carpenters find favorable in lumber. I also gave my dad another copy.

  • @dakotapowell9612

    The topics covered in this wood working book “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) varies from wood types to tool types and also uses. It also tells you regarding the several types of wood and just how simple or difficult they are to work with. This book has been very useful and is a great one for somebody just getting into wood working.
