I came across your videos while searching for something else. Pam was my stepmom - or as she called me, her Bonus Daughter. She passed two years ago, and I believe that she would have adored the videos you are creating and sharing SHE forward to the next generation. She loved to meet and talk with her followers. I hope your message brings joy to others.....

So nice to see a video this morning. I had forgotten about their decluttering steps....this would start me at my spare bedroom. Easy start, but my office/craft/exercise/storage room would be next......Eeeeks! And this is a small bedroom. I've been working on it for 7 years! Getting close then refilling again. ugh! I'm glad I did a couple of 15 minutes sessions a couple days ago. Feeling a little under the weather today, so will will start on the spare room when I work up the energy.
I did want to add, I did find their book, among many on a bookshelf and even found the card file and all index cards from a previous planned start that never happened. After getting several cards under my belt and starting the next day, quickly discovered this wasn't going to work for my arthritic hands. Not to be discouraged, I remembered an app I found years ago, "Home Routines".......(I think it's free, because I downloaded it so long ago.) It has the same feel as Fly Lady, but still very similar.
Thank you for your motivating video. ☺

Sounds like Fly Lady system may have adapted some of these ideas… like dressing to shoes, laundry, shine your sink etc… interesting.

Their book was one of the first books I read, in 1980, about decluttering and organizing. It was hilarious. It's possible I still have my index cards from that time. But, alas, I'm good at starting something, but not always continuing. I think I've read that Fly Lady started using their methods and expanded on that.

Great video Betsy! I'm really enjoying learning more about the SHE method of organizing/cleaning. I love the idea of starting at the front door and working clockwise. I reckon I could handle that.

If you need an index system to know where everything is then you have too much stuff.

The index card system was before electric calendars and alerts. It worked very well to schedule weekly, monthly, and yearly household maintenance. A good example is changing the furnace filter.
