  • On this day in 1665, the first issue of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society was published by Henery Oldenburg.
The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society is the world’s first and longest running scientific journal.
Samuel Pepys served as the Royal Society’s 6th President. Although he did not always understand the lectures he attended at the society meetings, he particularly enjoyed one about breadmaking in France.
2024 marks the 300th anniversary of the Pepys Library's arrival at Magdalene. To celebrate we will be sharing treasure from the Pepys collection.
Keep an eye out for more information on the Pepys Restoration Project coming soon.
