- Eight staff members voted in the inaugural poll. Points were assigned for each vote, with a first-place vote being worth ten points and a 10th place vote being worth one point. Points were tabulated to compile the top 10.

somebody from the SWACk conducted this poll...SCSU has nearly its entire team coming back and they are Jr's and Sophomores
As a SCSU fan, it’s whatever. But there’s NO WAY Norfolk made this list ahead of NCCU.
All Bulldog fans relax. A few more weeks and we are going to put all this madness to rest. Everyone counted us out last year and ended up on top. Let everyone continue to give those young men in Orangeburg all this bulletin board material.

I don't know how you have SCSU 3rd. Until somebody proves otherwise, especially since they didn't lose much of anything and gain some pretty impressive players, they should come into the season ranked at the top.

As a SC State fan, I'm not mad at this. After all it's a PRESEASON poll. I wouldn't care if they had us ranked #10. We probably didn't have good preseason ranking last year either. And you see what happened.🏆🏆

Last season Record or recruiting class. The championship the only reason they ranked so high honestly. Hopefully they get through the scrappy meac and go back to the CB I’m rooting for them and watching closely

It makes sense that Jackson State is ranked #1 since they were the only HBCU ranked in the final FCS polls in 2021 and the only HBCU ranked in the 2022 preseason FCS polls.

The HBCU Poll is not the same as the FCS Poll. S.C. State beat JSU. case closed?

I Dont agree completely with the poll, but I'm just glad yall are FINALLY giving us content besides JSU all the time. I know they're at the forefront, and they deserve it. But there are other HBCUs doing things.

FAMU will finish the season #1, but I completely understand why the Rattlers are #2 in this poll. A FAMU win against Jackson State will lock the Rattlers into the #1 spot for the rest of the season.

They got it absolutely correct, JSU by far has the best team in the SWAC across the board from QB, O-Line, D-Line, Running Backs, Receivers are the best in football and most have a great shot at going pro. Defense is also the best in SWAC and will Win SWAC again. I see NO one beating JSU, this is a better team then last year with all the 3,4 and 5 star recruits and returning players. Good luck to all the teams in SWAC. Go JSU Tigers...

Alcorn was literally one win away from going to the Swac championship prairie View lost to alcorn. All they had to do was beat Jackson state and they would’ve met either jsu or Famu again in the Swac championship. That’s how they ranked higher then prairie View now southern ion know why they ranked above Alcorn or prairie View
