Dizziness : what is orthostatic hypotension?

- Many people have experienced dizziness while getting up in bed in the morning and falling or sitting at your desk. In this case, the cause of dizziness may be due to orthostatic hypotension (postual hypotension) Today I will explain the causes and treatment of orthostatic hypotension.
Me:- stands up too quickly

So true
Same :(
lmao that's so relatable
So true man......
Well that’s relatable…
I’m 20 years old and this has been happening for as long as I can remember. I thought it was normal until I brought it up with my family.
I drink loads of water btw… enough so that I wake up multiple times during sleep just to use the restroom.
Same🥴
I'm going through something similar. I thought it was normal until I went to a cardiologist for my varicose veins (I'm 30). I mentioned it to him as a side effect I've had since my late teens, turns out it's not normal and now I go blind/deaf for about half a minute when I stand. Did you ever figure out what was causing your OH?
@@Sapanator I was found to have an iron deficiency a couple months after I posted this
@@Ls-jz7xe That sounds like a best case scenario. I'm happy for you! :)
Hello, I drink 7 glasses of water and i still got it
I think u might eat lot of drugs
Just happened to me 5 minutes ago... I don't do drugs or anything, and I'm hydrated. Really weird.
Drink some water with a bit of salt in it
I have it too. But I deal with it everyday and am always hydrated.
@@Cac95 I deal with it everytime I stand up
this happens every time i stand, i dont even stand up quick
the intensity of my dizziness each time varies, the worst time was when i stood up in a bathtub, and i couldn't see a single thing and i almost fell over
it usually just blacks out around my eyes
try breathing fast. works on me everytime.
This happened to me when i was in the bus. It’s so terrible
Same
Who else thought this was normal and everyone had this issue?
I thought the opposite but it turns out it’s at least more common than I thought it would be
Soo umm i could call that i have bc when i stand up my sight becomas all black but some parts of my sight still works and then some 3 4 seconds it It vanish and i just feel i bit of pain in my brain but after some minutes it goes away
same! i have that same issue

Me :got up quickly
My Vision:wait.. loading
settings brightness level to low
My body: loosing balance
Me: sits on the floor and wait for things to get Normal
i wanna know if this is what’s happening to me
so basically this happens from time to time and the feeling i get varies. One time i got up early in the morning to get ready for school. I walk over to my mom’s bathroom and I pee. I got up off the toilet and I slowly started getting dizzy, couldn’t control what i was doing. My vision was black for a few seconds and i just remember opening my eyes and hearing my mom yelling “(my name) ARE YOU OKAY?!” I was laying on the bathtub which is right next to the toilet and as i get up my head hurts. I tell my mom “yes i’m fine” and she tells me she kept on asking but i wasn’t responding. The door was closed and she was in bed so she never walked in. This happens a lot but in different scenarios but it always happens when I stand up.
What the heck are you doing then! Go to see a doctor
I get this but my vision turns white
@@Michael-kv5ff mine goes pink
@@Michael-kv5ff mine go white to i think we all have some mini seziure i be hearing things to but i cant hear it all fully im 14 so
omg same I woke up and went to pee and then I stand up to brush my teeth my vision got black and then I sit in my toilet seat again. It lasted for few minutes. It happens to me all the time.
I’m not sure if I have this, but I have some symptoms. One time I got up out of bed and I think I fainted onto my bedroom floor. I don’t remember anything. All I remember was feeling super dizzy and light headed, and having no sense of vision then everything thing went black and I woke up on the floor. It mostly happens in the mornings. This is very helpful. Thank you!
i think you should go see a doctor i have all the symptoms and it happens to me in the mornings like a panic attack i went to the doctor yesterday and she said my blood pressure was really low they took some blood and i am going today again to see my results
I have the same i feel light headed and my vision field narrows and i sometimes fall
Ive never fainted or went unconcious tho.
@@mej3341 Hi, how are you going now. What outcome did you get from going to the doctor?
@@SawanKumar-ow8dh hi im good thanks i hope u are doing good, she said i dont have any health problems other than low blood pressure which is because of my eating disorder(i dont eat the right amount) and she told me to eat everything and like get all the vitamins i hope you are okay
Have your doctor look into this and POTS. Just so you are aware though, you may need to go to a specialist for either of these things, especially POTS, because most doctors are currently not familiar with it so far.
I was in grade school when I first suffer from dizziness and dim vision. I always dehydrate but I also sweat a lot during exercise. Think it got worse now that I'm 25. Hypotension occurs even when I stare on the floor for a couple minutes then suddenly looking up.
When I wake up in the morning and stand up, my vision goes black, my head gets heavy/hurt and sometimes when it’s more severe, I have to hold on to something. Once I was in the shower, my vision turned black or maybe bright, when I called out for my mom, I could barely hear my own voice. I can’t hear anything. Then she dragged me out and I laid down on the bed. She said that my lips turned purple. I’m not sure if it’s hypoxia or hypotension.
know what it is yet? Also that happened to once when I woke up in the morning and rushed to turn off my phone alarm.
This happens all the time but today was the first time I passed out from it, and fell right in front of my parent’s.
Me to and thay laugh and I thought it was funny and thought I was messing around or something
I recently have this simpton for second time and I fall and my head hit the floor, the first time my head almost hit my table.
I just got diagnosed with this. So now I'm trying to educate myself on how to manage it. I'm only 26 and learning about this is kinda scary for me but I know I need to learn about this.
I'm 17 and was diagnosed with this as well my doctor told me to take iron pills and eat something salty and Always have a water bottle near me
I'm 21 .....n suffering with same problem
Going to see doctor tomorrow, hoping for good
LMAO IM 14 AND GOT DIAGNOSED
@@hesus_christo sad.
At least i found my people
Every day I'm lightheaded, especially in the morning, and suffer from that the whole day. I lose my concentration, I don't know if this is the same here. Anybody has the same? Little darkness in My eyes. So don't see clearly, especially when I change watching something close to something far away
This happens to me sometimes. One time I stand up to get something, then my vision got blurry then my head starts hurting too, I walked there with blurry vision to get the thing, then the moment I hold the thing I was to supposed to get, everything came back to normal, and I forgot why I was holding it TvT
idk if this is it but every time i stand up my vision is like clouded black and im stumbling around for a few seconds
Same
Now it's been like a usual thing for me
Happens plenty of times in a day
Same
I was studying for about and 1hr. An alarm went off and I walked over too turn it off. A wave of dizziness hit me. I was like oh no.... I woke up mid fall banging my hair against a chair. I didn't know where I was or what was happening. I stumbled upwards then I came to my senses and remembered what happened
Ok whenever I sit down and stand up I can’t see, like my vision gets black when I get up and feel like I’m loosing consciousness. It happens several times a day and I’m only a teenager so idk what to do. I’m normally a healthy person the other day I got up and walked to the kitchen an almost passed out and my mom was like what is wrong with you it scared the poop out of me cause I couldn’t stand up or see good thing I caught myself on the counter
I’m only 14 same thing happens to me recently several times a day but my vision doesn’t get completely black more like static and my parents have noticed yet but when I told my mom about it she thought I was overreacting. I’m scared if this is going to keep happening because I don’t wanna deal with it when I start school in a month.
@@galaxyamv8428 I’m so sorry I would recommend drinking more water and getting up slower I mean it worked for me or just when you have a check up tell your doctor also you start in august? I start in September lol
@@galaxyamv8428 also at this point I’ve kinda gotten used to it so I just pretend like I’m fine
@@Rorakate ah yeah maybe I’ll try that like the video said, though I don’t really get dehydrated often so that would be weird if that was the cause for me. Maybe I’ll eventually get used to it as well haha.
@@galaxyamv8428 lol good luck
Okay so does anyone else like it when you stand up because I do and I’ve passed out from it multiple times but idk it just feels like there’s waves in my head while my eyes get all staticy I might just be really weird
This happens to me quite a lot, I've fainted twice already
I started to become a common problem i hope its not harmful 😢
I'm having it a lot man. And i'm only 16 my bones hurt and extreme dizziness and causes me to lose vision when i get up.
Yep it’s happened a few times I do have anemia and that was around the time it was happening so the first time it happened it was the morning I got out of bed man I felt dizzy as hell and I opened my drawer held on to it and I bent my back to stream h then boom everything went black and staticky then i woke up I had fallen/fainted on my laundry basket and I woke up confused and my sister was laughing so I asked did you throw me off the bed? And she said no you just fell and I said how long have I been down for she said 3 minutes and then it happened again and same thing and those 2nd two times it was like having a seizure cause as I was falling I was trying to catch myself so I wouldn’t hurt myself too bad like before it hasn’t happened in a while but I still am dizzy when I get up I just haven’t fainted in quite a while
Man, i legit face this everyday.
This happened to me In school I lost consciousness and felt like an empty shell and by the time I wake up my whole body was white
wait wait, for me when i get up too fast sometimes my vision goes black and then white (?) and it gets better in a few seconds,. no headaches or anything, so does that count as orthostatic hypotension?
You might have an iron deficiency
try breathing fast. works on me everytime
It happens for me too!
How to cure it?
I was diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension by my doctor and when I get up to quick I also see black and white dots but is get dizzy and a slight headache my doctor told me to take iron pills and eat something salty and Always have a water near you you might want to go to a doctor and tell them how you feel you might have orthostatic hypotension or a iron deficiency
Idk this happens randomly but to me everthing goes like fuzzy black and white for a couple of econds
this happened to me this morning, I was so dizzy and I was very weak, I was so hot and it was kinda hard to breathe. And my vision starts to get darker, I felt like I was gonna pass out.
I was not diagnosed but i get like, blurred vision and dizzy when i stand up. It only happens for 3-5 seconds .
I lost conciousness 🙆🏽♀️
Same and got convulsions with it
it usually happens when i stand up after a long time sitting or laying down
This happens always when i get up and i feel my warm head
usually i feel dizzy but this time i lost consciousness lmao i regained consciousness when im in the floor it felt like a dream so long but feels so short
I am not sure if I have this but I can't get up my bed without being super dizzy. I have to be all day in bed. 😥 😔
This happened to me today and i fell and hit my head like fr jeez
Today I just fainted and twitched almost like a seizure
3:05 I can’t avoid these I have outdoor when I start school :(
I remember the night of the 8th grade graduation I was in band and so we were playing the graduating song (I forget what it is called) and I stood up to go downstairs to get ready to go and everything got dark and I got really dizzy and felt like I was going to fall over so I told my mom after it went away and she made me stay home to make sure I didnt faint or anything while I was there so we emailed the band teacher and told him I couldn't make it. Since then this has been happening to me a lot and I am going to be a junior this year, or had been happening less recently and when I was in 8th grade I remember I had so many doctor's appointments for headaches and whatever was going on since something like this kept happening, but the doctor could never figure out what was wrong because I explained it as like a dark green color kinda and I was just dizzy, I was in 8th grade I didnt know how else to explain it, so we just tried to figure out what was causing my headaches, it was dehydration and I started drinking more water but this other thing kept happening, I still had no idea what ot could possibly be at all but I just searched up my symptoms on Google, which idk why I hadn't before after 3 years of this happening, and I think it may be this, after my parents wake up I'll tell them I think this is what it is and see if I can get tested for it or whatever because this isnt fun
wow kind of ironic I had my 8th grade graduation around a month ago and shortly after that was when I started having symptoms :/
@@galaxyamv8428 I was in 7th grade about to go to the 8th grade graduation because I was in band, but yeah that's still weird
@@galaxyamv8428 Also I hope it gets better for you!
@@makenzie3610 hope it gets better for you as well, though my parents aren’t taking me seriously when I tried to talk to this about them :|
@@galaxyamv8428 When I was in 8th grade I had a doctor appointment almost every single week, but I was also getting really bad headaches so they just put this off to the side because I didnt know how to explain it so now when it happens since it's been happening for so long it's just a normal thing like I will tell them and they just say okay and we dont do anything about it
I think I have this because when I stretch or stand up my vision goes static or black
Remove the backround music which too loud.
Is this condition dangerous if you have it ?
For me, when I wake up I always drink water to stay hydrated, and I do it like.. Everyday and sometimes when I wake up and stand up to go to the bathroom and wash my face I sometimes feel dizzy and it only goes like.. Just a second but when I do feel dizzy I always looses my balance and I always fall on the ground..and also my vision gets blur and black when,i feel dizzy..and the longest dizziness I ever encounter is 20 or 15 seconds..Does that count?? As Orthostatic Hypotention??..
I always drink water... But it still happens frequently
I get this and it got bad twice i hit my head on the wall and cupboard then i lost memory for a second it started to hurt 3 seconds late
What this is, your leg blood vessels don't have the tone they are supposed to. So all the blood flows into them.
A quick fix is to tense all your leg muscles, so the legs hold less blood and you can sustain blood pressure to the rest of your body.
I’ve tried this once, I don’t think it worked or maybe I didn’t do It correctly thanks for the tip
I’m confused bc when I stand up everything goes black for a second and dizzy
Do I have this it? I will get up and see black and most the time I faint.
I'm 12 & I have this😢
I am 15 and when I stand I feel heaviness in chest or in head and feels like my ears shutting down and palpitations I also have anxiety disorder so I used to sitting a loooooot in bed and I am also dehydrated. And I also feel slight dizziness and I just want to sit after I sit I feel palpitations and dizziness or 2 ro 3 sec then I gets normal.
Dialysis does this to me after too much water has been removed form my blood
seriously? I cant do running exercise because of this??
ik your comment was 9 months ago but how are you doing now and can you still run? I was planning to join track and field in hs but now I suddenly started getting this and idk if that’s going to affect me performance in pe and track.
What about being tall and bending over to basically touch your toes repeatedly at work? I just realized that my fatigue and dizziness only seems to come when I stand up straight. I'm a roofer btw.
Awesome video, thank you. What song is this?
Thx for this I need to drink alot of water cause when I just run to go on a store I got s lot sweat in my back
What do you mean by symptoms can be tied to Parkinson's? I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's (not Parkinson's disease exactly) but I experience more of the symptoms you describe here. I don't have low blood pressure. in fact, i have high blood pressure
Im 17 only and having this problem
I was washing my hands in the school bathroom and I fainted
this is what I’m scared about I’m starting school in a month and recently started getting these symptoms maybe I’ll end up fainting at school…
so i should do something about it?
I stood up and I felt dizzy it all become blur and I didn't know where I was going I had to hold a fuckin chair Lmao. Anybody know what could have caused that
Low blood pressure
a momentary drop in blood pressure
This is priya my age is 17 years when I wake up on bed I got dim and rounding my eyes but I don't get any sweat and vomitings, I'm very small age why I'm getting this type of problems give any solution please
so um should i worry of i get them while sitting down and they last up to 15 seconds?
Does anyone else feel like this was made by AI?
Some of you may also want to look into pots syndrome

Constructive Criticism:
It’s little, amateurish things like above that put off viewers and prevent a channel from growing. For all I know, the rest of your videos - if you have any - are great, but there’s so much content on RUclips that we don’t even have to check that out and can go elsewhere to find it in much higher quality. They’re now viewed as more trustworthy because (even though they might be) they don’t look like an obvious cut and paste job. So, because you didn’t proofread your work and threw it up too quickly, people will spend 10x as long in looking at other videos for what they could’ve found here were it not for little mistakes. See?
I like content like this and hope that you keep going. Which is why I took the time to give some feedback. But if you want be awesome, be awesome. 👍
