I love how Boles guns down multiple guards and that one guy is just like "Frank what the hell!" As if he just punched someone and not filled then with lead.
Oh how naïve and innocent our dear old Clown Puncher was back then, not knowing the absolute nightmares that would await him down the road with Protocol 10 and City of Fear...
It's worth mentioning that the guard at 14:06 doesn't necessarily have to die. If the player turns off the power first, Joker doesn't electrocute him and the game plays an alternate cutscene.
Yeah but the alternate cutscene just kinda skips Joker throwing the guy in the electric water. When the cutscene is done you can see the body in the water. Both cutscenes end the same way.
To be fair, he was probably in shock. Boles was a guard for a while and likely developed friendships with a lot of them. (One-sided friendships obviously since Boles could just gun them down without a second thought)
One thing I love about this game is that you can go to some areas early in the game and you will see the guards alive guarding various positions and even talk to them, which makes it all the sadder when you come back later and see their dead bodies and realise how the Joker's goons are gaining ground.
There’s a part where going underground to see joker in the botanical gardens you hear him making his formula. If you go to the grate where the water is running you will find him dropping failed titan thugs with some extra dialogue. So basically just 2 more people added to the count.
2:23 actually, the unconscious bodies' chests move slightly to indicate that they are breathing, so if you didn't have detective mode you could just look really hard at each corpse.
Aaron Cash is a good example of how multiple guards of the Asylum either switched to Police or to the Arkham City Guard. To which he says there’s not many jobs that would take guards of the Asylum incident besides law enforcement and the same Guard work just for a different prison.
The goon who fell into the joker toxin/gas I believe survives because other goons outside of that room refer to him as razor and razor comes back when he is setting up bombs on the gargoyles and joker blows him up. They might just have the same name but I like to think he's just extremely unlucky
After I replayed AA again I noticed that as you’re tracking Gordon before you enter the Medical facility on the watchtower you can talk to the guard there and he’ll say that a doctor tried escaping but was killed by Joker’s men and was thrown into the water so you wouldn’t know unless you talk to him
One thing I like with the Prototype Titan is that you can see the Cause of Death. I wish more bodies had this, would be a neat bit of world building and the perfect place for some Easter eggs.
Theory, I believe Razor (the thug rigging the gargoyle mines) is the same thug Batman dropped into the happy gas. Simply based on the name dropped prior both situations
I'm late, but I thought I should report that Razor did not die in the explosion. According to Arkham City thug convos, after the Asylum incident Razor fleed off to Penguin's gang, where Penguin then tortured/interrogating Razor for information regarding the Joker, then fed Razor to Tiny the Shark. All in all, Razor dies in Arkham City, not Asylum.
There is one slight problem with this. In detective mode, it says Razor is dead. While detective mode could be wrong for unconscious guys, like I said with the Joker toxin thug, I don’t think it’s wrong when they’re actually dead. It is possible there’s another Razor that goes to Penguin in City, but I find it very unlikely it’s the same one who got blown up in Asylum. If you have video proof of it that I simply haven’t seen, though, I’ll happily eat my words.
Fun fact: the thug hanging from the rope above the joker toxin in the medical building is named razor. Razor is also the name of the thug that joker kills with the exploding gargoyle in intensive treatment way later in the game. So we can probably assume that it's the same thug. So he did not die in the medical building
The joker goon who fell into the laughing gas is the same goon who gets blown away This video is great I’d love to see you try do city but I’d say it be difficult because of protocol 10
Just as a little tidbit, the guy in the medical building that falls in the gas is the same goon(I believe) as the one that gets blown up on the gargoyle.
Being that the Arkham series are my favorite video games ever, this channel is awesome. I could watch these videos for hours. I can’t count how many times I’ve played Batman Arkham Asylum. The Arkham games have definitely been a big impact in my life and I hope that (even though the new suicide game looks like new territory) it’ll be good. And I hope for more videos like this.
You have to count two less goons. The lad Batman drops into Joker's toxin to break the ceiling lives (little exposure time, I guess?) not only because detective mode says he's unconscious, but because if we listen to the two goons looking at Cash through the glass, they mention something along the lines of "Razor got traped in there", and Razor is the name of the goon Joker blows up when he sets the charges in the gargoyles (you yourself mentioned his name in this second time). The thing is that in Arkham City it's said that he survived and left Joker's crew (to get murdered by the Penguin) so he didn't die during the toxins nor the explosion. There's obviously the posibility that there is more than one Razor in Joker's crew, but I like to imagine that he's the same, a goon that constantly fails and Joker just takes an opportunity to take him out.
I’m pretty sure the thug who crashes through ceiling and inhales laughing gas is also Razor. I think the others mention that Razor wasn’t able to make it out in time.
7:42 actually there is one more room where those guards could be. behind Boles there is a door to the main entrance to intensive treatment. the place where the transition from cutscene to gameplay at the start is. you cant enter there but there is a room behind closed doors. and harley with Gordon exited there
The guard at 8:58 isn't actually dead since it's the game who boobytraps the vantage points and gets killed by the joker later, Razor. +after you defeat Bane and the whole room collapses there are like 15 thugs inside that propably failed to get out, thus, this should increase the number of victims by ≈ 15 (I know I'm one year late but I just wanted to mention these two things)
I'm pretty sure the guy that joker blows up whilst arming a gargoyle with an explosive was the same guy as was hanging from a rope in the medical room flooded with gas. Razor's not exactly a common name so maybe just one death?
Great video! You’ve gotta do one for Arkham city! It’s much less dark, and it’ll probably be hard since it’s such a big world, but you’ve gotta do it dude
This man just said a video game where halfway through you have to start using DV whenever you turn a corner so you don’t get jump scared by psychopaths screaming all hell isn’t horrer related
Last one I promise in the botanical gardens when you are in the underground area and you can hear joker trying to make the formula if you go to a certain area joker drops a failed mutated body in the sewers and he comes up deceased he also tests another thug and the same thing happens but you don't see the body so id assume he's dead too
14:05 fun fact if you shut off the electricity to this room before entering it, joker kills the the guard off screen and walks through the hallway as an explosion occurs to block that approach off from you, so unfortunately that guard dies either way
Ok, so I’m replaying Asylum, and I got to the gas room in the medical building, and I can disprove that the thug who falls through the ceiling lives. In the room before where you talk to Cash through the window there are two thugs, and as they talk to Joker one of them mentions that Razor got stuck inside the room, and later in the game, a thug named Razor gets blown up on a gargoyle during your second time through Intensive Treatment. I highly doubt that it’s just a coincidence, so you actually counted one extra kill, since ya can’t die twice (unless you’re the Demon’s Head).
I’m hella late, but I’d say it could be argued that the thug that fell into the gas could’ve survived. That room was completely shut off from the gas until the very old and decrepit roof caved in, and even then he was only in there for a second
Fun Fact: the thug on the cable who probably dies from the gas is named Razor, he shows up later when the bombs are introduced. Getting blown up by joker. He also is mentioned in City, but is said to have been put in a pit of razors by Penguin.
The 9:17 thug is meant to be the thug that blows up in intensive treatment later on because one of the thugs outside the room mentions that jokers not letting anyone out of their not even razor(the it thugs name)
I feel bad for mentioning this but Razor doesn’t actually die until Arkham city when he tries to join Penguin and they feed him to tiny. This was said by either some joker or penguin goons in that game. This is a great video though, love your channel.
I would agree with this, but Razor's body is confirmed deceased when scanned in Detective Mode. And as far as I'm concerned, DM claiming someone is dead means they are dead.
15:14 Razor was in the medical center in the closed off room that you save cash and the one important doctor at, and if you listen to the conversation that happens before you beat up those two thugs you'll hear this. Thug: it's done. Boss, the room is filled with gas, and Captain Hook is stuck in there. Here's the thing Razor didn't make it out in time he's stuck in there, too. Joker: Well, that'll teach him to dilly dally, don't let anyone out of there even Razor he's failed me and I don't like failures. Thug: All right, boss, he was slowing us down anyway
Actually the guy in the gassed room in medical does live as if you wait and listen to the two goons guarding cash outside of the room they say to joker that “razor” didn’t make it out. Joker tells them to leave him and considering he is the only joker goon in the room he is razor. Then when you go back to intensive treatment to find killer croc’s lair and you get to the predator section with the explosive gargoyles, you will see the goons setting up the explosives and a guy is still working on his and joker blows it up before he is finished, killing him. What’s the guy’s name? Razor, he even has the same model, the bald white guy with the beige sleeveless jumpsuit except now he has clown makeup on now, and since “razor” is obviously a nickname I don’t think joker would have two guys in his crew with the same nickname and they look the same as well.
14:10 it’s is possible to save Thomas Armbruster from the Arkhamverse wiki if the electrified water is deactivated first before the player goes to the Flooded Corridor, Armbruster is absent and his death never occurs in the game
If youre going to use detective mode to determine desth vs unconsciousness, you gotta be consistent. Far as i see it, the guard you drop from the line to break the ceiling to the last fan switch in medical is totally alive because detective mode says so. Batman isnt even huffing fear gas at that point, which should put the count in the later part of medical in question.
Hey- I dunno if you already caught this but razor from the gargoyles is the same thug dangling over the gas! Joker says so in the radio talk between the two thugs in front of the glass of the room they're keeping safe in. The thug asks "and uh..what about our guy razor? He's still in there!" To which joker replies "leave him he's dead to me." But uh yeah! Great video just pointing that out!
way late but I felt like pointing it out. When the first titan goon dies, you hear a squelching sound, almost like his heart doent just give out, it exploded but that could just be me looking far to into it
I feel like with this game it doesn't have the kill count of the others, sure, but I feel like the greatest percentage of people who appear in this game end up dead. As far as I'm aware like you could count the number of Arkham staff that survive on one hand. Also it feels like most inmates fall victim to Ivy or the lobotomized lunatics.
I don't think that when batman said "anybody caught in that gas is dead" he ment it as soon as they touch the gas they die I think it's more of an timely thing like spending more than 20 seconds
TBH Batman does way worse stuff to thugs later down the line than the Joker Toxin thug. In Arkham Knight you can plow into people on the street with a military grade speed tank at 80 mph and send 50,000 volts through their body and they're still alive. I know it doesn't make any logical sense but it's comic book logic, so in my opinion that Joker Toxin thug is not dead. Also, my memory is fuzzy but that Dark Knight reference guard that Joker fries can be spared, I'm fairly certain. If you shut off the power before you enter the room with Joker in it, I'm pretty sure it skips the first part of the cutscene and cuts right to Joker running down the hall.
I know Batman does worse to thugs, but I'm also going by the precedent this specific game set with people being in the toxin. In the first toxin-flooded room, there are both thugs and guards being suffocated for a relatively short amount of time, and they are considered deceased. This one thug is dropped into the gas for a period of time that the game itself considers to be fatal. And, in regards to the spared guard, I know. For this series, it's really going to be fuzzy, especially in games like Knight where there are alternate scenes depending on your actions as the player. In this case, I'm counting any cutscenes as deaths, regardless of if they can be avoided. And gameplay-oriented deaths, like the diner patrons in Knight, as alive if they can be avoided. I know that's complicated, but that's my best explanation.
There's only a few pallet swaps for thugs in this game, so the thugs are really interchangeable. That gassed one may have had the same pallet as Razor, but there's very little proving they're the same. Plus, they have different voices from what I can hear, so there's that, too.
At 4:58 that Doctor didn’t examine The Joker but it was in fact Dr. Kellerman who examined him and is in fact alive as we see him in the medical facility and he dose survive the breakout at the end of the game Also The Joker lived up to his promise
9:00 That inmate actually doesn't die. Might've been that you cleared the room fast, but Batman says that he "can't let that man die", and after removing the gas, in detective mode, it shows him as "unconscious"
He’s actually Razor, the guard who is blown up by the Joker in the one Predator section, according to the Arkham Wiki. And Razor doesn’t die until sometimes after Asylum and before city according to some dialogue
Makes you wonder why anyone would want to work security services in Gotham. The only reason is probably to meet/work with Batman. These guys don't get paid enough for their occupational hazards. Same for every GCPD employee.
Frankly, if I somehow ended up in Gotham City, I would get the hell out of there like no tomorrow. With how much death and destruction goes on, I wouldn't care if you paid me billions just to live there. I would go work at a McDonalds in Wyoming if it meant not living in that hell-hole.
@@ClownPuncher139 I wonder how they manage to keep a functional economy, considering there's like, one good honest billionaire, and all the rest of the wealth is concentrated on people like Penguin, Black Mask and the Falcones. Plus, why would anyone open a business there?
@@highlightermarca-texto3281 I think the whole point of Gotham is that they don't have a functioning economy, as everything is controlled by the mob bosses. But they keep everyone in their place and keep the peace, mostly. It's why Jim Gordon is such an important character. He goes against the mob and tries to uphold the law, but the mob is not having it. They liked their comfortable spot at the top of the food chain, and eventually enter Batman. At that point they had to start getting more sneaky, hence the illusion that everything is functioning like a normal society.
[4:56] The doctor I think your referring to shows up in the room where the elevator leads to the first Scarecrow encounter; when Joker says: "And drop you like a sack of puppies.".

Fun Fact: the thug on the cable who probably dies from the gas is named Razor, he shows up later when the bombs are introduced. Getting blown up by joker. He also is mentioned in City, but is said to have been put in a pit of razors by Penguin.
I mean kill counts are a prettt common thing but dead meat does deserve recognition
@@ClownPuncher139 thanks for the response. Love your videos, I’m excited to see what else you do.
No wonder Arkham Asylum closed.
This was a massacre.
The dead bodies in the Arkham saga always made me uneasy tbh
Especially the strung up ones in wonder tower
11:07 WE have 3 random bodies courtesy of the snipers
Hard to say if those police officers at the end were slain since they could still have been rushed to the hospital
I would love to see a series of this and btw love your channel!
Gotham City makes Detroit look habitable
So that would mean that the number of people killed would be 152 instead of 153 because you counted one guy twice.
Please do one of these for Origins or Knight! Love the channel!!
Great vid, late comment. But I think you missed moth man skeleton up in the ceiling of botanical gardens
watching these after the halloween kills count
14:10 it’s is possible to save Thomas Armbruster from the Arkhamverse wiki if the electrified water is deactivated first before the player goes to the Flooded Corridor, Armbruster is absent and his death never occurs in the game
True. But high numbers go brrrr, so I opted not to save him.
@@ClownPuncher139 fair
You missed another one in the entrance hall of botanical strung up by vines.
way late but I felt like pointing it out. When the first titan goon dies, you hear a squelching sound, almost like his heart doent just give out, it exploded but that could just be me looking far to into it
Pressing F for Steve
I feel like with this game it doesn't have the kill count of the others, sure, but I feel like the greatest percentage of people who appear in this game end up dead. As far as I'm aware like you could count the number of Arkham staff that survive on one hand. Also it feels like most inmates fall victim to Ivy or the lobotomized lunatics.
I don't think that when batman said "anybody caught in that gas is dead" he ment it as soon as they touch the gas they die I think it's more of an timely thing like spending more than 20 seconds
Something I never understood is how the Doctor died (first 2 kills 2:11 )
Joker simply kicks the doctor down and somehow that kills him.
Just so you know razor is also the guy used to bust down the wall in the room filled with happy gas so technically 152 kills
So the one he said died to gas actually died later?
@@RJ_200 yes. If you scan him in dm in the gas room, he’s still alive. He “dies” during your second trip to intensive treatment.
There was another doctor dead out by the medical centre if you choose to beat the thugs up and not go straight to the roof
Your work is inspiring
The doctor who examined Joker returns in the medical center, and the thug in the gas is Razor so -1 deaths
Kellerman who examined him and is in fact alive as we see him in the medical facility and he dose survive the breakout at the end of the game
Also The Joker lived up to his promise
12:46 There actually a crazy behind the guard that is dead .
A fellow dead meat fan like me
9:00 That inmate actually doesn't die.
Yes, technically speaking, the game says he survives. But realistically he ought to be dead given what he just went through.
At that point they had to start getting more sneaky, hence the illusion that everything is functioning like a normal society.
forgot about the guy killed by killer moth
From the looks of it , he died before the game and in the recent Slay Sum ( Arkham City ) he didn't count the skeletons in the game
@@arkhamtony3775 must not have though because they all broke out that night surely if it was before it wouldnt be there
That first time you meet zsas once you go into the grate and walk a bit a bomb goes off they might of died but there's no sign of bodies
Do Any Arkham Game without takedowns
[4:56] The doctor I think your referring to shows up in the room where the elevator leads to the first Scarecrow encounter; when Joker says: "And drop you like a sack of puppies.".

Good on ya Steve
