It's funny to look at your first videos too Matti to see the growth. If I saw your videos back when you first started I would have thought they were great as well but you have just become so comfortable on camera. Seeing that has actually made me more comfortable on camera and also inspired me to just take the first step.

Danny gets deep at 12:06, but such a great overall video. The whole episode was really enjoyable to watch. Tom, you're a good friend and collaborator for making Danny watch his first video and getting his reactions to it. You could tell it was out of his comfort zone, but what a benefit to all of us still trying to make a go of vlogging. Hearing both of your thoughts on the process was "inside baseball" and I appreciated it a lot. Thumbs up for Danny, new sub for Tom.

The end of the video with your speech was so good. I worked with actors for the first time today, and I was nervous as hell. I'm like one of the most introverted people ever and socially I'm not very good with people that I don't know. But when you step out of that box you learn all of those things. I was still awkward as hell and I honestly didn't really know what to do, but you learn these things. Only by getting out of that box, you learn.

This is actually so cool to watch! For me, it represents the real development of filmmaking/photography in the sense that you just have to start somewhere and put yourself out there. When you look back on it, it seems horrible and cringy ... but that is amazing because it is proof of your growth. As someone super young and trying to learn that has been super humbling and hard to realise becasue it means I am not perfect (or at all where I want to be) but I have to remind myself that it's only the start of the process. And if you can get from this to where you are now maybe I can too. Thanks for sharing your raw beginnings. inspired

This literally brought tears to my eyes :´) I relate SO much to the reason why you started your channel and your explanation on how it's we, ourselves, that put us inside of a box and it's only US that can make that jump outside of it.
And since I've started I went through all those big struggles, the uncertainty, the "I'm not good enough", "I'm not like this", "I'm not like that"... but by practicing over and over, I'm becoming more like myself. I'm also not a really super extroverted person, and I used to be someone I was not just because I thought I HAD to be that person to have success but that's so not true.
But you learn that along the way, now I'm more confident, I've been doing RUclips for almost 3 years and just now I'm finding my voice and figuring out where I want to take my channel, so you really need to learn to trust your journey. It's yours and yours only :)
I wish there were more RUclipsrs talking about their beginnings, this really touched my heart and REALLY helped me, truly. I would write an entire essay on how this video is so important to me but I can't, so I'll just leave my love

Your personality and the way you put it into videos is unique. I found your channel this past summer, and it was at the perfect time, a time of uncertainty and hesitation in my filmmaking career. Questioning college, life, friends, and starting youtube again. To continue chasing the dream I had since I was a kid. Also, at a time where I feel much like you did back in high school and college. This video is the reason I am going to start again. Super inspirational.
    Thank you.

I completely agree about the transparency how people are just interested in the real life version of someone's movements. And when I say this, I mean there back and forth position through life when it comes to being a freelance photographers / cinematographer.
this is something that I've been wanting to get into and so I think watching the first video, was a really good idea to make this video. The first video for anyone, I think is something that's nerve-wracking or just makes them anxious in general, unless they're used to speaking in front of a camera. I think the thing about RUclips that I really wish more people would fall into the category of, is people being honest with themselves rather than trying to put up an image. I'm not saying that the first video of this channel was negative, it's just that I'm trying to say that I completely understand why he was trying to put up a certain image that we often times think of when somebody has a RUclips channel. Some people develop personalities, and then some people remain themselves. And I guess it's just really depends on how easily you can turn off the awareness that you're speaking to a camera which is an inanimate object, but then you suddenly realize that there's millions of people watching. To be able to shut that out completely, and then create an individualistic image must mean that you're possibly afraid to be yourself.
I think in general what I'm trying to say is, I really like the channel because of its authenticity and simplicity. When I look for RUclips videos, I don't exactly look for the normal flashy colors. Just because image to me does not speak louder than actions. So when I look at this RUclips channel, I look at the long-term actions and I think it's great. The first video I think was actually more sincere than was given credit. Because I think that the way that you were acting in the first video, was simply trying to be clear and concise with the audience. And there's nothing wrong with that. If you can center yourself around a single frequency so that all around you may understand you clearly. There's nothing wrong with this.
