I think the end goal of documenting is that when your old and alone you can sit on a sofa and rewatch your whole life all over again from start.
Haha and you wanna make you live a wild life to make that experience more fun
Hell yeah that's why I have started documenting my life also. Learning how to angle the shots and do some B-Rolls for the better.
@@michaelng03that’s actually why I came here. Now leaving with the intention to document my life
THIS!!! yes I do it for me. Reminiscing if my favourite thing to do.
Shoutout to all of the people who took a photo or a video immediately after watching this ☺️
Haha i hope that everyone does. Thanks man!
Sure did❤
I was one of those few geek kids who filmed 8mm Kodak home movies everywhere I went, starting in the early ‘70s at about age 12. Then two piece VHS video recorder camera combinations. Video8 handycams later on.
It’s 50 years later and I have no idea where all this footage ended up. 😢 But I still have the memories!
This was beautiful, and suits looks pretty good on you🔥
Hahaha thanks man!
"Are you videoing me?" Haha. Time flies when you're having fun, and especially when you have children like me, documenting those seemingly "unimportant" moments brings back a slew of memories when you look back on those photos and videos on your phone. Fantastic video, Danny! Thanks for sharing. :)
Haha thank you so much man!!
I agree with time flying once you have children....it’s like life got put on fast forward and there’s no play button anymore for regular speed life lol. I also agree that unexpected moments in life hold great value in the memory bank.
"I'm not CRYING YOU'RE CRYING!!!"
Indeed.🤧😭
We are all crying :c
Hahaha sorry for the tears! Thanks for watching
@@DannyGevirtz That's just tears of happiness. Even watching your memories bring us back our memories.
Thank you for this video. :)
I've got to be honest. That last "I love you" at the end always hits me somewhere I often forget even exists. Single-handedly, you have been one of the most influential people on this platform that have inspired me not necessarily to "succeed", but to "LIVE". I just started my process with documenting my life one single week ago, and it feels like no coincidence that you're here to push me to continue. Thanks for everything you do, Danny. We love you too.
Amazing man. Thanks so much!!
RUclips is such a wonderful platform for documenting. Imagine you are 50 and you check out your first videos on YT. What a cool moment :)
Haha or it’ll be an intense moment of cringe for myself! Thanks dude!
Danny somehow this video made me feel nostalgic about my own life, even if the entire video is about yours. I love the intention you put behind every video you make, keep up the good work! Love you 😉
Thank you so much man!!
I felt like sharing something when I saw this video. I'm a videographer and have also loved videos all my life. I recently lost my father and as part of my process searched my childhood home for all of his old videotapes, it wasn't much. I had it converted to digital files. Last night I started watching them, looking for any frame where I could see his face and hear his voice. And the few clips I found brought me so much comfort, but even with it, I'm so filled with regret that I didn't document him more, that I didn't film him telling us stories, or laughing or barbecuing. Documenting your life and the lives of the people you love IS important, you may not realize it now, but it is. Make sure you don't have any regrets.
I just love your attitude in your videos, gives me chills that someone can be this transparent with youtube. It really makes your channel unique :)
True
Thanks so much Jan!
You've put words to why I've been documenting my family all this time...thank you.
Amazing to hear man! Thanks!
This videos made me remember all the lost moments I haven't documented. I got my first gig today as a videographer. Though I might share it with you... Love you Dan.
Congrats man! Hope it goes great
Danny Gevirtz: one of the great humans on this planet. Love your soul, bro. Thanks for another amazing video.
Thanks so so much!!
Dude the cinematics are so beautiful man I'm in love with ur colors and frames
Thanks so much brother
What a coincidence, yesterday I set up a private playlist just to store of day-to-day life stuff. Short clips, no shot list, no lighting, no editing - just shoot & upload. This approach is TOTALLY freeing for me - for some reason I always felt pressure to edit & polish ALL my videos - so, I just didn't shoot as much. So now my casual daily memories clips have their own home, and my editing / creative projects are a separate thing.
No more pressure, and my best memories are getting preserved 🙂🙏🏻❤️
Amazing dude! That’s such a great idea. Thank you!!
Hey Danny, this was beyond beautiful man. Losing my mum to cancer almost 9 years ago made me understand that life is like a playlist on shuffle.
I look at photos of her, her handwriting on old documents, her signature, her favorite sweater, the laughter of my sisters, and I get transported to when I could reach out and hold her. I look back now and there's nothing I'd want more than to have documented all those times... So that one day when I'm old, grey, tired, and creaky, I can look back and remember what it was like to love and to have been loved. To dream and to chase those dreams. To be alive
So I'm starting today, by recording my browser while watching this video 🤗 Thank you Danny. And if anyone gets to read this, I wish you a life full of moments that remind you why it's amazing to be alive, and that you remember to document them ❤️
Amazing man! Thanks so sharing!
This is why I love videography. The ability to capture a moment, and then watch and relive that moment through a video for the rest of time
Somehow this video made me feel nostalgic thinking of my memories 💕
Yeah, pushed me into the pond of memories.💭
@@gauravm. right?? lol
@@itsmebarbara4085 haha, yeah.
That’s so beautiful to hear. Thank you!!
@@DannyGevirtz hey thank you!
"Most moments in your life aren't really worth documenting, but the issue is how do you know what moments are and aren't worth documenting?" hit me right in the feels Danny. I'm watching this in 2023 as I commit myself to documenting every day and love all your thoughts on this.
This is the most wholesome content on RUclips.
Haha thank you so much!
I'm a firm believer that nostalgia is the MOST powerful emotion we can feel, even more so than love...
Great video as always, Danny
I definitely agree with that!
I’ve had the recurring thought for the past few months, you just happened to sum it up perfectly! Growing up my parents and grandparents were the documenters. Thousands of pictures, hours of videos. I wish I could go back and tell myself to pick up where they left off. As I graduated high school all of their documentation started to slowly stop and I was too slow to pick up the slack. Nearly 15 years later I’ve made it my mission to document for myself. I find video the best for the same reasons as you. They make much more complete memories. Sorry for the essay lol. Thanks for reminding me why I need to keep at it 💙
Beautiful comment man. Thanks so much!!
Loved it, man! I was 23 when I left my corporate job to chase my passion for fitness and become a nutrition coach/functional fitness creator. The scariest time of my life but the most thrilling. I'm 25 now and the journey is just beginning
Amazing man! You won’t regret it
this is probably one of the best youtube channels that exist in it’s own unique way
Well said Danny. And I have to add - capturing the everyday mundane moments of life - that's why I started shooting 35mm film and it's been life changing. The pressure of seeing that LCD screen is gone, and the magic of the shots are magnified because of the finite nature of a roll of film, and the fact that the results are not immediate. When you get those scans back the memories of the moment rush back
Absolutely dude! I had a whole section on why I started ahooting film in here that I eventually cut out because the video was way too long haha
Danny Uploads a new Video. Me: Throws everything away, to sit down and enjoy the Video.
All the times!🙌🔥
Hahah thanks so much for that. Means the world
I remember as a kid, my family would meet on the holidays at my grandparents. They would always bring out a big film projector and we would sit on the carpet while the kids took turns clicking through photos of my grandparents traveling around the world. It was honestly so special to me and I for sure take it for granted when it comes to capturing my own life. Thanks for the video man, hella inspiring.
Love this! I've started documenting as much as I can. I have tons and tons of footage that I haven't created with, posted, or anything. But it's just nice to go back and watch and re-live the moment and memories of that day and time. Keep documenting friends!
This just shows me I need to document even MORE. Also is that you and LIL D?!?! HAHA
hahah yeah dude i use to intern for Dave
Thanks Danny for this reminder! I haven't been video-documenting my life until quite recently. However for years, I was quite prolific with writing in my diary and watercolor painting as well. Then I went more into photography. Getting back to these memories is always a real pleasure and a re-discovery.
I've been binging your stuff for a few hours and I get sucked in every time. So relatable. I appreciate all the hard work you've put into these videos to create that raw emotion.
Thank you far making this bro! I document a fair bit of my nearly 2 year old daughter's life with my phone mostly and have done a bit for myself but not enough... I always felt like I should share and post more online but it just hasn't flowed for me that way. This video reminds me that it's not for others that we document our lives but rather for ourselves and our families to look back on in the future - which has always been my motivation anyway. Thank you for the reminder and encouragement :)
Just what I was looking for.
Thank you for sharing this man.
A great video, again! Thanks for making these videos. They are helping me a lot more than you can imagine!
This is a great video. Super inspirational. Love you man
This video honestly affected the way I view my past work. Capturing moments for the sake of reliving them later is really profound and takes the stress out of documenting life. It's not often enough that I look back on old photos and videos just for the sake of living in that moment, but you encouraged me to do that. Thanks danny
Incredible bro. Love the stories you tell and advice you give.
I've just come out of 3 years of a pretty bad addiction....12 days today with out the substance and NOSTALGIA has made the days so much more enjoyable. It's been a life saver. I traveled the world with my best friend in my early 20's and filmed the entire trip. I did the same with my current GF on all our travels. Looking back on that footage brings more pleasure than any drug or substance could ever offer
Nostalgia is indeed very special. It gives off that comforting warmth and happiness. It's also a reminder of how we pushed through the ups and downs of life. I'm truly grateful that we're able to relive our memories through a photo, video, voice memo, journal entry or other ways of documenting our lives. This message that your relaying must be truly kept in mind. Great work Danny!
Bro your vids are always so peaceful and bring me a lot of joy man. Keep up the good work!
Amazing, big thanks. The best video I could watch at the end of the year ♥
Literally can’t tell you enough how much I loved this video and your channel as a whole, I literally feel so inspired and I’m gonna start documenting my life (hopefully daily)
This is so amazing and really put it into perspective! Thank you
Dude... this is amazing. Honestly, you're so inspirational and amazing at what you do. This video is easily one of the best with the greatest message. LOVE this.
Nostalgia is, in my opinion, one of best emotions. That why I love ducumenting my life through photography. I just can't imagine looking back to those photos 10,20,30 years from now...Seems so surreal yet so mesmerizing. Great video Danny as always! ❤️
Dang dude this cuts deep! Then again all your videos do. Love this man. Keep it up 🙌🏽
Small tip for anyone out there. Google photos is free unlimited storage (at a compressed quality). Then once its uploaded to there not only can you search it by date. But you can also search by whos in it, where you were, what's in the frame (it even knows my dog). Then your brain becomes searchable.
Not sustainable for the 8tb of video I shoot for youtube but for all the small memories, it's amazing. My wife and I connected our accounts too so its one huge pile of searchable memories. Only accessible to you, no external links.
great tip Kent! Thanks man
Inspiring video once again!! Love your content and definitely one of my favorite creators today! 💯
One of your best videos so far Danny! Loved it!
As always: Great work Danny. Very nice stroytelling and we know about the nostalgia, because we‘re vlogging since 3 years and it is great to have also outtakes only for our eyes and not for social media. Thanks!
I love your simple yet powerful methodology of explaining things. Thanks brother.
Thanks for this. T'was well needed and I'm feeling inspired.
You always hace the video that i need in the exact moment. Thanks for inspire and creating
Nostalgia is such a strange and intoxicating feeling. I got back into film photography partially because I want to document my life and appreciate the beauty of everyday things. The imperfection of film makes the photos seem like you are viewing a raw memory and its really cool!
Totally man!
I'm super inspired, but also all in tears. Thx for that vid, super helpful!
Beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for creating this.
man all your videos have such deep meaning! thats why i love you man! your perspective and world view is great
This was really moving. Thanks for the emotional stimulation of the day
Another amazing video! Love the storytelling and vulnerability yall share about your lives.
As someone who has been documenting huge parts of my life I can totally relate to this. Looking back at the non-sense videos me and my childhood-friends made at 14 is truly nostalgic and reminds me to cherish the present moments more than I do now. One of my all time favourite quotes is from Andy Bernard (The Office US): "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've left them". Gets me every time. As always amazing video, bro. You truly do inspire me.
Hi Danny, thanks for sharing your thoughts. ever since I got addicted to making photos and videos I started documenting my life aswel. Especially at times that you feel sad or don't know what to do next I look back. A couple of weeks ago my dad started going trough all the pictures of my youth and showed me some of them. the moment that you discribes feels so special and makes you realize what path you have taken so far. I think that this is really important to do because in these modern times everything goes so fast and we don't look back as much as we should.
thanks again for sharing this with me and I love you to man. you are a special guy. keep going cuz you inspire me!
This is so good. Almost like you read my mind about what I have been thinking about. Thank you for this video.
You're the best dude. These more simple videos you make are amazing and make me want to film more. Thank you :)
Thank you for sharing Danny, this video speaks loudly to me.
Whenever I watch your videos, I see myself. I hear what my heart wants. I'll do this more often now, documenting every moments of my life. Love you Danny😊
Thank you for making this video 🙏🏼 I started documenting my life a few weeks ago for myself, so I 100% agree with you
Why is this video almost bringing me tears?!! Thank you brother!
I needed this Danny, thank you.
It was beautiful, thank you so much you just make me smile, and give me the force to continue doing what I love each day!
I’m gonna start documenting my life NOW!🙏🏻 Thank you, Danny!
Man you are underrated af...cant put it in a better way. Just did the biggest road trip of my life down the great ocean road with my partner, seeking inspiration while putting content & pieces together and luckily I found this video. Your storytelling is off the charts. Keep up the good work!
Wow thanks for sharing this with us. This is way beyond filmmaking... this is life. I’ll start more documenting too
Nostalgia is everything. This is so good at breaking down why it is so vital and beautiful
Of course man! Thank you!!
We did the same thing and drove across Canada and looking back on the footage is so uplifting and we always get a huge surge of gratitude. Grea video and your channel looks great. Happy Friday afternoon find!
This blew my mind . Truly an awesome video. ❤❤❤ much love brotha !!!
Danny this was beautiful, I have never felt more inspired by a video ever. thank you from the bottom of my heart for this man
Wow Danny, great stuff. There is a lot to chew on there. I love this ideas of documenting your life, so good. Thanks. I just discovered your channel, I dig it.
Cheers, Steve TTF
thanks for this video man. it really changed my prospective on video and life. i was feeling your emotions, i will do it for sure.
Bro I was literally thinking about this exact thing yesterday! Amazing video as always man. Thanks for sharing
Love this Danny. Such good advice. Nothing better than looking back on old memories!
I swear every video you put out makes me cry without fail
Best videos I’ve seen this year! So freaking cool bro 😎
Always so inspiring, definitely gonna document more of my life. I went thru my camera roll after this wishing I had more documented memories. Your note about only giving yourself one shot is such a good thing to keep in mind, and really does mirror how life is all about learning. Much love Danny!!
Definitely do man. Thank you!
At the beginning of this year I started a documenting project based on the same things. This video is awesome. Transparency and humility goes a long way. Much love 🙏
I love you. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring, thought provoking, and honest reflection of your life so far. Definitely going to start doing this myself.
You're such an amazing storyteller. I will take your example and start documenting my life as well. Amazing content keep it up!
Really love this Danny. Brings me back to why I started shooting video. Keep crushing it man.
Truly inspiring and emotionally capturing. Great video! Thanks for sharing that insight
Thank you for sharing Danny, this was soo insightful and helpful! I am working on making this a daily part of my life and the struggle really is real. Taking this video on board, I am excited to keep pushing through. Loved the vid! Much luv my bruv! 🙏🏼
What an awesome film to watch this morning.
I feel the same way! I started a Vlog where I attempt to record a little bit of every day, with the hope that I can look back in 50 years and enjoy the memories I was making. I think documentation of joyful moments (even not-so-joyful moments) is so cool and it can remind you how precious life and time is
Totally hear that. Thank you!
love this video and I cant agree more! I've started documenting my life intentionally a few months ago & I'm so in love with this process! :)
Thanks heaps Danny! I didn't know i need to hear this.
You just put into words what I have been feeling for my entire life. And why I document my life as much as I do. Still never enough. But a lot of it is there. And when you get to be my age, you'll be grateful beyond words that it is. Keep doing you, Danny. You've got this life thing pretty dialed in.
Very well written! Thanks for sharing!
You really are the most humble and kind and inspirationnal filmmaker to me. Thanks for such good vibes!
Love the message of this video…and your delivery was, as always, phenomenal and relatable. Thank you for always producing such great content. I just decided to quit my job and pursue film full time. I’m terrified, but excited.
Thanks for the inspiration! Great story.
Literally, I had tears in my eyes. Love you! You always inspire me while also hitting me right in the heart in the positive way
