I think granite is a type of polymer.
Which leads me to conclude that the pipe was poured in place not drilled and inserted.
    Good stuff

      Polymer you say?

@@spot905 yeah what do you think you're the polymer guy.
I think the ancients learned how to grind the tailings of their mining process and reuse it by creating a buildable material.
Many of these massive granite blocks would have been darned near impossible to move during construction, but not if they were poured in place.
All the building, all the mining, evidently a bunch of people, but where is the tailings and the trash pile?
I worked construction for many years.
Many times I was on new projects.
It seemed that there were as many dumpsters being carried away from the site as there were trucks bringing in new material. I had spoken about it jokingly with others on the job at the time.
Trash trash trash where is it at?

@@faaqcee3 Granite is an igneous rock, not a polymer. The idea of using tailings creatively is interesting, but the logistics of pouring granite in place would be quite complex given its properties. As for waste, ancient civilizations likely managed their materials differently than modern construction practices, which might explain the lack of visible tailings.
