I really enjoy watching these videos, especially when I think I know what water you are on. I would also like you to show a bit of your occasional struggles wading upstream as you climb over rocks, logs, rock hop, slip, or step in holes. Then I would feel better about how some days I struggle to get to the good spots! I am in my seventies, and sometimes I just have to think safety first and give up.
I have been watching your videos for a few weeks now. I bought a Tenkara rod and can’t wait to use it. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for making them.
I have been watching you, Tristan, for years on SUV RV’ing but only watched several Tenkara Addict vids. I am currently on the road living in my Suby Outback, and have purchased a tenkara rod. I have all your tenkara fishing vids to catch up on now! I have only fished with a rod and reel in the rivers and mountain lakes around Bozeman.I did flyfish once, found it all too cumbersome (although I did catch a couple of fish right away. Was on the Selway river with a friend) Your vids are very informative and enjoyable, and your enthusiasm is “catching”, Tristan. Thanks for all the great vids on both channels
Recently found your channel, subbed. Amazing video quality and your knowledge of Tenkara. I have a Tenkara rod for backpacking trips and recently got into fly fishing for the first time in my life. Tenkara is great and having so much fun learning to fly fish with standard fly fishing. Enjoying your videos!
Indeed, just about perfect tenkara water! I really liked your use of drone footage - always helpful in setting the scene, but never intrusive. Thanks for sharing this great video!
Learned about Tenkara from an Ace Videos 2 vlog, and here I am binging your whole channel. I already made an expansive amazon list based around the Dragontail Mutant for the versatility. Can't wait to (eventually) get out there once I find the means to get set up! Unfortunately Los Angeles isn't the most conducive to trout fishing! Thanks for the content!
Nice river! You should come to the Southern Appalachians some time. It's a drive, but fishing here in the Fall is pretty spectacular, especially in and around the Smokies.
Focus all your attention on the end of the line, where it meets the tippet. And keep that part out of the water. If you notice any sudden movement there that you didn't cause (like a sudden stop or change in direction or drop), set the hook.
I'm not sure if you check your line above the fly every couple catches to check for wear from the trout teeth rubbing on it? I learned the hard way once by landing a bunch of trout without ever checking the line, and then losing that fly(my only white wolff I had with me) during a hook set. I came close to matching that fly but the trout knew the difference and my catches took a downward spiral. lol
starting out would you recommend tapered line or level line. In standard fly fishing I've always preferred a weighted forward line...wonder if it crosses over
I lived in Jackson,Wy for eight years. Never heard a BF story from the locals or experienced one myself. Now I’m retired and visit yearly and still no stories.
This river reminds me of the rivers fished in western Japan by a tenkara couple on their fishing channel, Genryu Izakaya (源流 居酒屋)(Headwaters Tavern, or as the English would say "Headwaters Local"). They do some serious packpacking to get to the headwaters they fish, and the results are good. A sample of their videos: ruclips.net/video/2uKO6Famtvs/видео.html

Awesome as usual..I'd love to see you tackle one of those crazy backpacking trips into the ultra remote eastern Yellowstone NP high country sometime.
Excellent video and awesome commentary!! I really enjoyed how you presented this!! Thank You!
I was getting excited for a new free tenkara rod for a minute! Another beautiful creek and fishing video, you’re living the life!
I've got no complaints!
Yes we love free gear. Please do more challenges like that.

Lol yep, that'd be a 2,000-mile drive with about 30 hours of driving each way. "A drive" is right!
@@TenkaraAddict Ah, come on. You're a pro! 😉 You want me to come and get you? 🤣 jk
I think you could do it in 28 hours.. 😅😂🤣
Palomar knot 🪢 will never let you down.
👍
Great stream with 'ankle-busting' rocks!
Another great video thanks for sharing your adventures! Beautiful country and river love it!
Man you are living the dream! Do you carry any bear spray or a side arm when you fish in grizzly bear country?
Another Great episode Tristan!
Perhaps I missed it... Have you done a complete start to finish rod/line set up video?
What a wonderful day on the river.
Definitely was. Thanks Tim.
Great video - you ought to ask Santa for a hook sharpener; I need to ask too - mine's about worn out.
I agree, great stream!!
Sure was! Thanks Michael
I had to see it to believe it ! thanks
Nice stream. How do you find these excellent streams?
You were the reason I bought a tenkara setup
That's great to hear! I hope you like it.
Great video. Haven’t heard someone say preemo in years. Farm out.
Pretty rad.
Any tips on detecting strikes? Definitely the hardest part of tenkara fishing as a beginner.

Nah, I don't check it that often, but I probably should. Thanks for watching.
Great video, that really is perfect tenkara pocket water.
That was incredible water!
Another great trip beautifully filmed. Watching your vids keeps reminding that there can be fish in places I might not think.
Awesome spot
Yet another great clip ! Btw, how long is the line from tip to fly is it and how long is your rod ?
Check the video description 👍
May I ask how long the line ,leader and tipet were and what fly…?
Check the video description 👍
What! Can not snow above freezing, must be a typical flatland californian!!
Great river
Yep, had a great time!
Guuuuauuu i love your videos from argentina Mendoza
Thanks for watching!

That is some beautiful country. What was the water temps?
Not sure. Didn't measure them.
Love the adventures
Thanks!
Awsome trip. What flies were you on that day?
Another Great video, made my Saturday Morning. No Cutthroats.. sigh.
Have you ever fished the Catskills?
Nope
Lol I have to wonder how many rods for everyone promises are edited out of the videos 😂
and I thought I was going to get a free tenkara rod...Lol
Any Bigfoot? You are in remote locations.
Nope

Bison traffic jams. That's not something you hear everyday, at least not in Florida.
Lol they're common in those parts!
👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️
👍
You NEVER grab the line!!!
Lol

That's a good channel! Thanks Robert.
that IS an awesome creek, NICE bows & browns,IF you like to eat fish those FAT 8-9"ers are THE best....
A recent study showing that black bear heart rates soar at the sight of a drone has some experts concerned.
