Thanks Ten! You brought back memories for this old man from my youth living in Michigan and fishing these secluded narrow creeks, but more for Brown trout. The thrill of fishing in such confined yellow streams and pulling out 6-8” was so satisfying, even though I had the open deep waters of the Great Lakes all around me, (which I also enjoyed). But there was some feeling that so atttracted me to this venue that’s hard to put into words. And as you noted, when you occcasionally pulled out a 12-18” trout, (that by deep rivers and lake tributaries would be considered normal size, it was that much more gratifying to nab one in these narrow and shallow creeks.
Hey buddy those dollys you can’t take out of the water just saying no hate brotha
wasnt that a brown trout?
That's protected land, get the hell out of there
Nice catch.
This is the type of fishing I grew up doing with my brother. We grew up on tiny creeks and small beautiful trout. The thrill of catching even a 12 inch back then would make our whole camping trip worth it. We would fish in the rain and be soaking wet shivering as we got back to camp. We would fish sunlight to sundown. Nothing like catching a decent trout like this in a creek like this. Thanks for sharing
I've never seen someone fish like this before and it's honestly genius. Small creek in the middle of no where that not many people would think to fish due to the snag potential. Looks like a ton of fun!
Ain't never in my life seen a fish like that come out of water way like that. That is enlightening. Awesome job.
This video really demonstrates the reason that I love Tenkara! I have fished larger, well known streams with Western style fly gear and landed some big fish. The enjoyment is lost when there are crowds of people. These tiny, overlooked creeks can be amazing and very peaceful! Every wild trout that I encounter is a treasure! Even the tiny ones! You are right! The memory of one big fish, out of such a place, is very meaningful!
Thank you!
Agreed! Thanks Joe 😁
Yeah. My heart would be pounding too. Catching a fish of that size in that stream makes it very memorable. You can catch 8-10 pounders in henry’s lake but that’s expected. Catching a 17 inch cutt in a tiny creek like that isn’t common. Well done.
Exactly! (And I actually will be heading to Henry's for ice fishing soon too!)
I love brook trout. Anyone who has fished in small streams knows all about this.
@@scottinnh88 I’ve fished tiny creeks and pools. During a drought I’ve come face to fin with monsters in puddles as a kid. It left me speechless to know fish of that size had been in there. Always something to get your heart racing.
Fished Henry’s Lake back in the late 60’s and early 70’s and catch some amazing brook and cutthroat trout. I don’t know what it is like now but there wasn’t much around the lake when my dad and flyfished there.
topwater fishing in fast moving streams and rivers was always my favorite type of fishing.
mad props to your casting, i know how tough those tiny creeks can be.
OMG, that was beautiful! There comes a time and place when even the smallest fish is a wonder and amazement and so gratifying that only a Fly fisherman would appreciate.
That was magical to watch! I've had a handful of moments as well where I would say, it's time to pack it in because there's no beating that. I really respect and appreciated that about you, it really shows how thankful you are and that's one of the most important aspects to what we do in my opinion. Fantastic video
My dad bypassed the big rivers except for the San Juan to teach my brother and I to appreciate small streams from New Mexico to Montana. I will always prefer them and the brookies, browns, rainbows, and splakes they produce. Thanks dad!
I fished little streams like this as a young man. One in particular over Brandon Gap VT. The further I went up the stream the larger the fish got until there were no fish. Quite a memory! And yes, essentially every cast got you a fish.
I can’t begin to describe how impressed I am with your casting accuracy. My current casting ability would have gotten me in the branches continuously until I got frustrated and left skunked. This video has galvanized me to improve my casting so I can work narrow waters like this 😅👌🏻.
Brought a smile to my face! I got my trout fishing addiction on little streams like this! I always make it a goal to catch a fish out of the tiniest of streams. Most people overlook these beautiful little babbling waters. One more reason I like them so much! Cutthroat is my dream fish living in and one day ill finally get to catch one.
What a beautiful fish and I still am incredibly impressed at your casting ability ! Well done and thanks for posting this
Good stream so narrow !
Excellent skill !!
Fabulous fish!!!
We, most japanese anglers, can not tell cutthroat from rainbow trout.
But I finally realized they are completely defferent from your picture.
Cutthraots are so cute and the cheek is a bit blueish. Very clear skin.
More similar to Amago and Yamame, my favorite species.
thank you.
Love this. There is something about catching a fish that you thought was too big for the level or size of the body of water you caught it in. Kind of like an Easter Egg in a video game.
Awesome catch! Love the tiny creek trout fishing :)
Yeeeeeeeeeeew!! Congratulations and thank you for sharing Tristan! What a perfect day to remember... So stoked for you!
Congrats, man good catch. I could fish creeks like that all day, so peaceful and not many people to fight with for a good spot. For me size doesn't matter I just love catching.
It’s nice to see people happy for this guy. There is so much negativity on fishing videos.
IKR? Same with truck videos.
Brilliant video...and what a beautiful location. Impressed with the accuracy of your casting in that narrow space. No reel? Not seen that before. Last fish an absolute stunner. This is what fishing is all about for me, catching the unexpected.
Congratulations, what I like to see is your sincere passion and the way you share it!
Great catch!!! I love your videos and you are making me want to get back into flyfishing...one day soon. Thanks!
i like that you're just sharing your trip, not trying to sell the video. feels like I'm walking beside an old fishing buddy having a great time! thanks homie
also i would like to point out that the creek looks 16" wide - this is nuts!
Beautiful. This is the type of flyfishing I enjoyed when I lived in Colorado. Brookies and Cutts were small yet very colorful. And the scenery... and every now and then you get a surprise like this. I miss it a lot. Thanks for sharing. Brings back very fond memories.
Trout don't live in ugly places.
There is no better fishing than trout fishing...its pure joy!!! Congrats on your new record, and thanks for posting this as I never heard of Tenkara before watching your video and I'm now "hooked"!!!
I could feel your excitement! Beautiful stream and a great fish! Thanks for introducing me to tenkara!
The fish is stunningly beautiful, as is the brook and scenery. Memory of a lifetime.
I like how you appreciate the little ones. They are just like little jewels coming out of the water. I love that little hole at 7:30. I probably couldn't fish this creek because of the close bushes, but fun watching somebody else do it.
DUDE!!!! I was engrossed with the colors of fall there and when you set the hook and Tenkara rod bent...I hollered, DUDE!
I have this huge grin on my face I know will stick all day....
Thank ya Tristan!! Kudos! Just when it can't possibly get any better...A Gift. Eh? Ya earned and I am so thrilled for ya! Wow!!!! That was cool! Outstanding!! Thanks!
Thanks Michael, I appreciate your enthusiasm! 😄
Love the area, so beautiful and great catch! And even greater that he's back home :D
If there is a heaven I hope it’s got small creeks like this to enjoy……….
Thank you for sharing this little adventure!
I didn't even catch it and I can't stop smiling!! Way to go Tristan.
Thanks!
Good for you buddy! Loved watching and listening to your videos !!!!
What a catch! Amazing fish, that creek looks like a blast to fish out.
You’ve hooked someone in a far flung corner of NE England. What a wonderful way to spend time - I grew up with that “babbling brook” soundtrack. Love it.
Excellent video, man! I was getting goosebumps seeing that 17" trout. Love to see it!
Very cool. I'm a bass fisherman and have never fly fished before. This spring will be my first time and I'm starting with Tenkara. It looks like great fun. Thanks for the video.
These are so fun to watch! Thank you! I grew up in Star Valley and have been thinking of taking my daughter on a little stream this summer.
This creek was like fishing in a Bob Ross painting. Very soothing.
Pretty fish - they all are. Good work with the fly gear and the cam work in those tight quarters. Bigger fish in bigger water but these small wilderness streams are priceless for a quality outdoor experience.
Remarkable! The colors. Your skill at fishing that tiny stream in close quarters. Your excitement and enthusiasm. And that monster, monster, MONSTER cutthroat. Well done!
Thanks Robin!
Congratulations! 13:58: “Unreal/unreel” = The essence of Tenkara.
Agreed. Thanks Mitch!
The cutthroat trout I'm used to are of the Lahonton variety, in Pyramid lake. I would never have thought a species of trout bigger than brook trout to be found in a creek like the one you're fishing in...and being able to drop a fly in those conditions is amazing, I know I couldn't do it.
Perfect! Very awesome! Thank you for sharing your adventures just amazing!
Thanks for watching!
I couldn’t agree more! Fly fishing/tenkara fishing super small streams is so perfect!
Glad I just found this channel !!! I just bought the Rocky Mountain combo from Tenkara rod company ! Glad to see some videos on these rods. There really cool !
NICE TROUT! Beautiful scenery! Excellent video! Places like that are some of the best moments and memories 😀
Great video, thanks for sharing! I love this style of fishing.
Wow! So much fun to watch. Great casting skills.
Thank you for putting it back🇬🇧💕
This is the first time i hear of tenkara fly fishing. Im def intrigued now. Great video thanks!
Part of the wonder of fishing is what lies beneath the waters round the bend. Sights, sounds and the thrill of it all. What a Beautiful fish. Glad to see it stay in the creek. Finding an off the beat body of water that most folks will say is un-fish able shows their lack of faith in nature. Where there is water there is life.
One of my favorite memories was catching a huge trout in a little stream. Jemez New Mexico. Early 1970s. Great video! Thanks!
I grew up fishing in Jemez, I love it out there.
once again your care of the fish after catch is Prefect:)
Beautiful fish! Thanks for letting him return to the creek.
Very cool indeed and heart pounding just watching! 💜
A friend at work quit his job and moved to Wyoming to work on a ranch. He wanted me to come out and fish the streams. I never did (70's). He wasn't a fisherman but he said the streams were loaded with trout and there was little to no competition as I recall. Great video!
What a gorgeous little creek and what a marvellous catch! Well done video 👏
oh my gosh! that was amazing my friend. woowee! and in that small little brook. straight brilliant.Thank you for sharing!!
I really enjoyed this video. Beautiful scenery!
Great video, I love creeks, moved to San Diego from Bay Area and I miss my old spots at 108 and 395, can’t wait to go back some day.
Fishing for tiny fish in your spare time is a positive and fun activity like what you are doing😀👌.
I also like fishing for tiny fish like the Rasbora family, Puntius and others.
Your fishing spot is extraordinary, even though it's just a small river but the fish are abundant, you can even get a big trout jackpot.
Dood job, Bro 😄👍.
Always success 😀🙏
That was outstanding ! Congratulations on that beast living in a trickle of water ! 💥
I live in Colorado now, and your monster reminded me of my first Colorado trout, a22" brown on the Frying Pan near Basalt. This is the size stream like the ones my dad and I fished near his home in Foscoe, NC. Thanks for the great video, Tristan!
Most people wouldn't consider even looking at that stream, let alone you may have been the first person to ever catch any of those fish. But OMG! What a catch! Loved the video-thank you!
Thank you for taking this flatlander out fishing mtn streams. And, I think that the feeling that the tiny creek gave you was an intimacy. At least it gave me that vibe
WOW !!!! HUGE Bonnieville, be PROUD.. thats a hum-dinger of a fish... thanks for sharing..
I'm definitely happy with it!
Yup im definately subscribing! Great video man! Every pocket i was on edge and when you came to that last by the falls i was thinking: yup, thats the spot. And BAM! congratulations on a monster by the size of that creek!
What a beauty, it’s awesome to catch a big fish like that in a tiny creek. Reminds me of my youth in the spring creeks of upstate NY. Keep up the good work! Those cutties are excellent
Thanks Mark!
First video and I loved it man! When I saw Monster and tiny creek I expected 10-12 in but that was a sizable trout good job man
Wow that was amazing! I love your videos and enjoy fishing with you.
That was epic! Huge congrats!!
Well done!! That is an amazing trout for such a small creek. I’ve never understood Tenkura fishing as the fish I chase, steelhead and salmon, are massively bigger and pull lots of line off the reel. You are obviously enjoying what you are doing and that’s what it is all about! Keep it up 👍
I'm not concerned about whether people understand tenkara or not. I'm not here to convert people, just to share the kind of fishing that I like to do 👍 Thanks for watching.
Thanks for showing can no longer fish but love to watch you.
DUDE!! Nice fish!! Nice creek! I was laughing with excitement watching you land that creek monster!! And yelling “ NO NO Don’t get in the sticks!! Great post and and great catch!!
Dude, I think I would have just fallen dead right there in the creek if that thing had gotten off.
I really like the net your using!! Tough casting in this video but you landed them!! Good video!!
The highlight of my day whenever I see a new post!
Thanks!
Absolutely magical! Thanks for sharing!
Unreal thanks for all the work you do to produce these videos …..
Man, I’m so glad I subscribed today. I wasn’t going to watch more than one a day but just couldn’t resist having a look. Awesome video.
Jeez those Bonneville Cutty"s are just so Gorgeous. Nice work Bud. Keep those lines tight!!
Beautiful man ! Job well done !
I was cheering along with you!! Lol.
Thanks Alberta!
Nice catch. After the release, I could see the monster swim right back to it's home under the fall, cool!
Yep, it was great watching it swim away!
Amazing casting, and that was a very nice fish
It's truly a monster out of that little creek. Way to go!
Nice to see some streams and rivers are not full of plastic just micro plastics as that everywhere.
I LOVED this video!
I've been on the Greybull river out in Wyoming and caught several trout like those. Gotta love it when the fish aren't under a lot of pressure. What a magical place, very nice catch bro.
Great catch! Love the numbered basket.
Absolutely amazing!!
Great catch, love to see it, great scenery too!
My man. What a beauty in a small stream. Love to see you release and you said, thankful. My kind of fellow fly fisherman.
Thanks for watching
Cutts are so so beautiful, love those fish. Nice catch.
I've caught quite a few bigger Bonnevilles out of Little Dell reservoir, near Salt Lake City. Interesting to see the younger, smaller creek variety with the typical young trout patterning that you also see in young rainbows, and which stays with Asian cherry trout as they mature. Good video!
going to try Tenkara for first time in a few weeks..can't wait
Oh wow! That was massive! What a beautiful creek, as well. 👍
Sure was! Thanks for watching!
That’s crazy!! I’ve never seen a fish that big in that small of water. I have a nice brookie stream I hit a bunch. Heard of 18” brook’s in there back in the day but naturally I’ve never spooked, seen, or caught anything like that. Great video!
