same here > allergic to chocolate , mustard, and in the last 2 years allergic to salmon,tuna, and sardines, sheeeeesh. But I dont have migraines anymore> fingers crossed, I can eat a very small piece of the DARK chocolate every once in a while though.
You need to build a separate buck yard so you have the control of baby’s ❤

I can't believe how much Spruce has grown compared to the little ones. It's hard to believe he was tiny as they are not too long ago.

Spruce sure does act like a "dog goat!"Maybe / probably he got it from being so attached and around Herc so much. It will be so interesting to see how Sprucers and Harry and Larry interact. I can't wait to watch that! You two are doing such an awesome job for being first-time homesteaders. It's so encouraging to watch you. I think more people should do some level of homesteading, even if it's just having a garden and a few chickens.

Nahla does seem happy to see Herc. goatlettes are just so precious. Spruce cannot wait to have his own wee little crew. It is perfectly normal for other momma goats, and especially if pregnant to head butt or push other babies down or away. Her instinct and their scent tells her they are not hers and she's saving her udder for her own babies. I still think once she kids, the mommas and babies will do just fine together. By the time momma has her kids, Blue and her brood will be out an about. They have great instinct on what to do, and how to teach babies. Just look away a bit and let the "goat". It's hard, I cannot wait to see what Mario and Momma's goetlettes will look like. "Goatlettes is a great word." ❣ You just need a Bro pen and a Doe pen. It will work out.
This video was quite uplifting for me. My daddy died four years ago today and it just doesn't seem like it's been that long. Covid took a couple of years from all of us. But on a positive and loving note thank you for sharing your animals and your love for your animals in your land with all of us.❤❤

Mullein is 100% medicinal. Don't bush cut it down! If you have a friend who is into natural remedies, give it to them!
You might notice that guineas don't scratch for food like the chickens do. The guineas will like corn fields, gardens, and scratch that you throw to them.
Just a helping word. I grew up in Texas and Tick country snakes ect. My dad was always clearing land. Kyle out on trails like you where you need to wear pants with your socks over the cuffs. Long sleaves. I know it is hot BUT it could save your butt. COVER YOUR SKIN WHEN IN THE WILD.

Owl pellets come out of the owl's mouth, not its behind. {Still a little gross, just differently gross?) I think that owl poop is usually white. And your mullein is a useful plant--widely used in traditional medicine. 🍃 Sure loved walking the path with you all. Thanks for taking us along!

A lot of homesteads separate the girl goats from the boys in different pens so they don’t constantly breed. I feel bad for blue because she obviously had a not so nice past

2 things. 1. I love Zevo bug spray, all natural and does the job! They have come out with a body spray. Something to consider as you battle the insects.
2. Make sure your border on the chicken run is secure and access free. It is quite upsetting to come out and fine that a raccoon has dug under got in and attacked your birds 🥺
It is very gruesome to say the least! Raccoons are horrible when it comes to your birds. Just something to keep in mind. Love the goatlets and as always Spruce is adorable! Herc is such a good boy! Aww heck I love all your animals! They can put a smile on my face when I'm not having a good day! 😊

We had turkeys that would run at us, but it was because they equated us with food. Not that they wanted to eat us, but that we feed them. Ours would let us pet them. Loved having them.
You kids are brave to walk the trail this time of year. When I lived in the country, I would not walk anywhere into the woods because of ticks & other insects & snakes. Our property & all around us had never been developed & we had to treat our driveway & front yard with insecticide. The birds are doing well, the goats are doing well, & the dogs are good. Life is going good for you!

Kyle, FYI on owl pellets. They aren't poop, they are body parts, bones, hair, feathers of undigested food that they regurgitate or throw up. They are fun to pick through and see what was eaten. Great for kids and adults to learn with. You should save them for Adler and Carter.

It's possible for Blue to get pregnant about 3 months after having babies. Look it up but I think you have to keep close track of the time period.

Good job guys. Yes, It's time for Mario to have a separate pen unless you want non stop goatlets. WalkerFarmFam keeps their buck away from the does until they want them to breed, so the kids are born at a certain time of the year. I'm not sure, but they can breed back pretty fast. A horse channel that I watch said that the mare's come back into heat 7 days after they foal, and again in 30 days. Keep Blue away from Mario

Shannon, so sorry that you get migraines I know they can be debilitating. If you would take a garlic supplement, the odorless kind, it can help repel ticks, mosquitos and other biting bugs. Love the babies! My broad-breasted turkeys grew the fastest. I would sit in the pen and hand-feed them spinach, it made them get used to me and followed me around my land!

I have several widow makers hanging in my trees as well , can't afford to have them taken down and no 25 foot ladder or fire truck available to get them down so I'm waiting not so patiently for nature to finish what it started.

Owl pellets aren't poo, they're regurgitated matter that can't be passed or digested. So, yeah, it owl puke. lol If you dissect it, you can tell what the owl eats.
Herc, Nala and Spruce get along really well. It's like you're walking 3 dogs, but one's a goat-dog.
You can make awesome home made cough syrup with the Mullin leaves. Great to have for winter. You've both done Such an excellent job with Spruce. He got so big so fast. I'm sure you will do just as well with the 2 goatlets.

When the owl eats something, i.e. a rodent, it goes down whole. The owl’s stomach removes all the good parts then regurgitates what they can’t process (skeleton, hair) wrapped in a pellet. It’s kinda like a cat hairball. What comes out the other end is Wite-Out.

I've never had a problem with ticks living in the backwoods of Mississippi though others did. Later I was told eating garlic keeps ticks away. Yes I eat garlic quite a bit. True or not? I'm not sure but sure seems like it's possible.
It makes sense bc we give our goats minerals with garlic to help with ticks 😉

A little biology… Owl pellets are a result of regurgitation of non digestible parts of their food.(much like a cat hair ball). It’s poop is similar to all other birds.
Ticks love dead wood from what I was told ! Another page calls the dead trees Widowmakers. Up here we have burrowing owls ! They are smaller in size ! The only thing that would one up the hand feeding the birds would be them dancing with you Kyle !

Could you possibly tie ribbons or somehow mark 'Dead' trees just in case fall rolls around before you can get to them. At least you'll know which ones need to be addressed.
Several goat channels I follow allow the mama & baby goats back in with the rest of the females after a couple of days, give or take a day. However, Blue’s are tiny so might need a little longer. If you build Mario a new pen, Mama can use the one Blue is in now & Blue can move to the main one.
Googled it. Owl pellets are what you dissect and are composedof indigestible portions of the prey. The digestible portions pass on through and the poop looks similar to pigeon poop. Hope it helps. 🤠

I had turkey's and they are just nosey ours was so friendly and loved to eat out our hands and we could pet them its beter to pet them and get to know them they are funny

The whitish poop from the meat eating birds such as owls, eagles and vultures is a combination of poop and urine. The stuff leftover after digesting what's in their crop (bones, fur and skin) is then yacked up in pellet form.
Shannon, turkey’s are very social and can be very affectionate. Please try to make friends with them. You will eventually like them ❤️🇨🇦

Evening Kyle and Shannon…all birds of pray except one throw up pellets and all pass as well though predominately it’s urine which is whitish in colour then there is also black or greyish colour this is the excrement the bird passes which is the same for all birds.

You guys are the first people that I have seen seperate a momma & her babies. Typically they just ibtegrate them in with the rest of the herd. I can see keeping Blue seperate Mario though.

Good morning Houdini and Larry! You guys sure look cute as ever this morn! And Spruce you’re still the one baby girl! We had a storm here in north Louisiana yesterday evening and man, I was scared! It was directly overhead and the lightning was a show! But it was making it to the ground! I was unplugging everything! It lasted the better part of an hour! Lots of blowing rain!
