He also has longer neck feathers (they form a “mane” the roos fluff up when fighting) if you could hold them you could tell by feel too, the rooster’s feathers are not only shinier but silkier and a bit denser while the hen’s are softer and lighter more suitable for snuggling chicks 💕

Actually the hen was pecking gently to get it to go under her.... hens do mostly have control over chicks in normal situations .. This is something I see on the regular as I have hens and raise chicks. .. the hen is staying right there cause she never leaves her babies and is naturally trying to peck/nudge it to come back. Actually the hen was pecking gently to get it to go under her.... hens do mostly have control over chicks in normal situations ..
This is something I see on the regular as I have hens and raise chicks. .. the hen is staying right there cause she never leaves her babies and is naturally trying to peck/nudge it to come back.
I love watching mumma hens with their chicks.
