    ---------------------------------
Toyota's largest SUV, the Highlander, will go on sale for the first time in Western Europe from early 2021. Over 23 years of continuous further development of hybrid technology, more than 16 million hybrid customers, 9 hybrid models, the 4th generation of the self-charging full hybrid drive for up to 80% emission-free driving, years of experience in the SUV market - all of this forms the basis for the new Highlander Hybrid the famous Toyota quality, durability and reliability. Exclusively equipped with full hybrid drive, the Highlander complements the RAV4, C-HR and the upcoming Yaris Cross, which represent segments D, C and B, and thus completes the European Toyota SUV range.
The electrification of SUVs in the E segment has so far focused on plug-in hybrids. Regardless of its advantages, customers in this segment tend to drive longer distances with more of the motorway, which makes the purely electric range appear rather low. The Highlander with its self-charging hybrid drive and purely electric speed of up to 125 km / h meets the requirements of this segment in an efficient way. The advantages of the TNGA-K platform allow the Highlander a large usable space as well as an efficient drive. It offers 7 seats as required, a lot of comfort, effortless handling and a high level of safety with a smooth-running, 248 hp four-wheel hybrid drive, with consumption from 6.6 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions from 149 g / km - the best-in-class ratio of Performance to emissions for non-plug-in hybrids.
The fourth generation of the hybrid drive gives the Highlander evenly powerful acceleration, a purely electric speed of up to 125 km / h and the possibility of a towing load of two tons.
The interior is extremely practical, with durable quality and the variable space of a 7-seater family SUV - a comfortable, luxurious ambience for all occupants.
All switches protrude harmoniously from the panel, are elegantly shaped and easy to operate. A finish with a satin and wood structure in various places gives the interior a high-quality, prestigious atmosphere, while the soft-touch surfaces made of finely structured, carefully stitched leather offer an extremely pleasant feel.
The premium equipment includes a 7-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch multimedia screen in the center console, navigation, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto ™ connectivity, 3-zone air conditioning, heated seats front and rear and Front seat ventilation, a head-up display, a 1200-watt JBL sound system from Harman, wireless smartphone charging station and a rear-view mirror that can be switched to digitally for a wide picture without interference from headrests or rear seat passengers.
The luxurious interior of the Highlander is available in black or graphite gray. The upscale equipment versions combine perforated leather upholstery with dark silver decorative elements and a dark wood texture; in the premium versions, the perforated leather is combined with light silver decorative elements and also with a dark wood texture.
The new Highlander is 4966 mm long, 1930 mm wide and 1755 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm.
Its appearance combines the elegant and refined, dynamic design of an urban SUV with the powerful, robust, resilient impression of an indestructible off-roader.
The wide track of 1662 mm at the front and 1690 mm at the rear is additionally emphasized by the exposed wheel arches and the trapezoidal shape of the two grill sections - this is how the Highlander appears with a powerful presence.
The side view shows a strikingly profiled, apparently forward-striving design, with a silhouette that tapers towards the rear and blackened roof pillars. A dynamic impression that is also given an unmistakable premium character thanks to the eye-catching 20-inch chrome alloy wheels.
With its long wheelbase of 2850 mm, the Highlander is a real 7-seater, whereby the 180 mm displacement for the second row of seats allows easy entry and enough space for two adults in the third row of seats.
Accessible through the tailgate with a kick sensor, the 7-seater 332-liter trunk contains a 27-liter storage compartment under the loading floor. When the third and second row seats are fully folded down, there is a maximum load space of 1909 liters. There are various cleverly arranged storage compartments throughout the interior, and there are electrical, USB and external HDMI connections in the first and second row of seats.

Man......you did a good job of selling it to me. I've never owned a hybrid but think I will get one of these next year. Maybe a year end 2022 model. I've always liked the looks of the Highlander but never purchased one for whatever reason. This really is one of the best test drives I've seen on youtube.

Hi SDA Dan - great video review
You said that the Highlander does "around 50km in summer 35 km Winter" on EV only. Did you test this in real driving? If so, was the above klms done on normal driving or very slow driving on near flat roads because in the RAV 4 Hybrid and Camry Hybrid you can not get these numbers except on the RAV4 Prime. Does it have larger batteries than the RAV 4?
How did the road noise and engine noise compare to a RAV 4 hybrid (not Prime)
How did the comfort and ride compare to the RAV 4?
Was this the top of the range model Highlander?
    with thanks
    Breaker (Australia)
PS the Highlander is called the KLUGER in Australia because Hyundai registered the name Highlander first for their top of the range Hyundai SanteaFe. This Hybrid Kluger/Highlander will be released in Australia in about 1 month

My friend I'm with u on the look of Highlander over Rav4! Highlander looks great inside n out, has good road manners, great tech' & Safety-Sense 2.0. I like this 7-passenger SUV very much, I'm a Hyundai guy & I would probably buy the Palisade over this vehicle, but it's a great looking & driving SUV nonetheless my friend. Thanks again for another outstanding review & driving impressions. I have to watch some of your other reviews to get caught up! You are great my friend enjoy so much your videos!...✌️🙂

It is very informative video thank you, but man, how much have you charged Toyota for all those words of sheer admiration? Super , great, etc were used dozens of times.....Do not get me wrong, it is a good car, that for instance I still consider to swap from my current Q5, but you painted such a rosy picture that is almost impossible to believe in. I took this car for a 2 hrs test drive and indeed it’s very spacious, incredibly comfy and quiet at low speeds. Good sound from JBL and plenty of electronic gimmicks top up overall good impression. It is great on fuel consumption as well, unless you go fast on a highway. But when it goes on a highway ( and to me is made for long hours drive) it gets noisy anytime you accelerate (and that is pretty annoying experience) , above 140 km/h is constantly noisy and on driving properties in nowhere near its German rivals. On a narrower , curvy roads behaves like a canoe on a river so please, be a bit more objective?

You are wrong, the car is ultra quiet unless you floor it, but why would you floor it in 99% of driving situations? You buy a Toyota hybrid for smoothness and economy, not for pedal to the metal.

It’s a great car. The thing is it’s fuel consumption is not 6L/100kms. If you fill up full tank of 65L, you can only travel around 680kms, it’s about 11L/100kms in real world travel. And the patrol engine can travel around 660kms of 68L in full tank in real world travel, this is both showing in their dashboard straight after you filled up your feel. Somebody will say, it will make a difference if your driving condition and habits, but it’s not, it shows in your dashboard straight after you filled up your gas, then that number will goes down by your road travel conditions or you drive habits, it never goes up even if your driving habit was very very gentle, this was just an excuse from manufacturer. What I know it was not much difference travel range between hybrid and patrol model for 2021 highlander. Not body showing this number before....
