This is such a good review - thanks for explaining the gotcha's on this speaker. I am going to buy one. It looks like it is just the right size for my car, but I won't bother the wiring in the backup camera.

Question...do you find it overheats being up on the dash? I have a mount for my phone, and it gets really hot. (My old 2018 Subaru Forester doesn't have Apple CarPlay on it's Starlink program)

So why not use a Bluetooth speaker instead of the built in speaker. Certainly it would sound better.

OR... Get an amp that is Bluetooth and send that signal to the speakers in the car...providing they aren't blown...

@@mrupholsteryman Wouldn't that require the factory radio to have Bluetooth as well? If the factory radio is broken I don't think that would work.

@maximusextreme3725 my thoughts are IF one doesn't have an old school car with a normal rectangle din or double din or 1 1/2 din space....and while there is so much integration with the dash shape as well as alarm systems etc that are connected to the unit..... that one COULD use the phone that "most people" have now as the Bluetooth connection to their radio...(whether in the car's radio capability or not...) you could still connect the Bluetooth in the phone to the aftermarket radio that has android auto etc...and from that you could connect via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth amp and from there directly to the speakers that are in the car... one could probably just bypass the aftermarket radio and go straight to the Bluetooth amp from the phone...

@@mrupholsteryman I think I see what you're saying, where I am confused is how do the speakers, which are wired to the factory radio, connect to a Bluetooth amp if the speakers themselves are not Bluetooth compatible? I realize you could place aftermarket Bluetooth speakers in the car for better sound, but I don't understand how wired speakers to a factory radio would receive the signal.

@maximusextreme3725 most manufacturers of the cars are not gonna have a Bluetooth connection between the actual speaker in the car...but those will be hardwired in.
