      @@NuclearSandwich7 You are correct. That is probably why most guys delete their trucks. If you delete it the problems will disappear. It is really not a good idea to purchase a diesel unless you really tow a lot of weight. They are very expensive to take care of properly. • @darrellhay
      @darrellhay 3 года назад +11

      @@joeberry1556 Cummins is a publicly owned company:
      For one reason or another, this is a relatively common myth. The notion that Ford Motor Company owns Cummins could be derived from the fact that Ford was a minority shareholder of Cummins' stock in the past, or that Cummins had previously supplied engines for Ford. Yes, for many years you could purchase a brand new Ford with a factory installed Cummins diesel - so long as you were in the market for one of the company's F650/F750 medium duty trucks.
      Ford had offered Cummins diesels in their medium duty platforms side-by-side with the Power Stroke and even a Caterpillar option for multiple years. In fact, the 6.7L Cummins Turbodiesel was the only available diesel engine in the 2011-2015 model year F650/F750 (Ford did not initially offer their own 6.7L Power Stroke). Ready for a curve ball? Allison transmissions are also offered in the F650/F750 models!
      Cummins set the record straight in their May 2013 newsletter, outlining that Ford Motor Company had purchased 10.8% of the diesel engine manufacturer in 1990. In 1997, those shares were bought back, and as such Ford has not owned a stake in Cummins since. Think of it as an investment for Ford, rather than a strategic partnership. Beyond the medium duty market, there are no additional ties between Ford and Cummins. If you were told that Ford owns or has owned Cummins, your source was blatantly incorrect.

    Congrats on rolling the million. You should register at the Cummins million mile site. Getting that transmission to hold up is a testament to both your driving style & your maintenance.
    I also transport, Airstreams and backhaul Forrest River & Gladiator boats. I was OTR driver & bought a diesel pick up for personal use for mileage to replace a car & some towing. Living near a Mfgr I sort of fell into the business. 744,000 on my 2014 Ram Ecodiesel. It works because Airstreams are all bumper pull and only average 6,500 to 6,800 pounds and are aerodynamic to pull. Average mid 15s towing them & low to mid 14s with the same size box TT towing at 65. Average mid 20s when unloaded. Lol Can average 30 mpg unloaded but I don’t want to drive that slow. So the Airstream & boat nitch is inside the comfortable fuel efficient capabilities of the 1500 platform and the Ecodiesel engine. To start from scratch and contract with other companies I would use the Cummins not that the Fords & GMs can’t do it and hold up.
    I should say to make it work well for this truck I use an aftermarket tune with brake plus the factory trailer brake controller & good airbags. The 3.92 & 8 speed has also been great but did have a solenoid go bad at 695k.
    Higher Turnover is because people don’t know how to maintain a truck, and or do their own maintenance, run a business, manage finances, manage time, not abuse their equipment etc.
    An emissions part, an EGR cooler leaked and ran it low on coolant which cost me a head gasket at 371k. Post tune that part can come out of the equation to eliminate that risk. Similar to you trans and differential fluid every 100k. Mopar Fuel filter/water separator every 30k, Rotella T6 & 10k rated filter every 10k. Hope I’m fortunate enough to have my Ram roll the 1 million mark.

KT, what is that dually your driving? I sold one just like that. A 2013 with AISIN I had added a kelderman 2 stage rear air ride to it. Looked just like yours I sold it to a family in Colorado. To anyone hoping they get this mileage out of their truck.... it aint happening. At least for 99.99%. The only high mikeage trucks youll ever see like this sre long haulers. The reason some engines get this many is mainly due to rpms being steady and less heat cycles. When you start your truck and drive to your ofice 10 miles away and go home, it goes through a ton of on/off cycles opposed to this guy who starts it once them drives 500 miles on the highway with no rpm fluctuations.
