      @@CWModelling Ahh!! I thought this may be the case. How do you work out scale and dimensions? It’s something I’d like to attempt but this scale thing is holding me back. Utterly exquisite work btw

    • @CWModelling
      @CWModelling  Год назад +1

      Hi, firstly I'd suggest getting yourself a 1/35 scale ruler, you can find them on Ebay.......having reference photos is very helpful as you can do things like counting bricks for height and width and work out dimensions from knowing the size of a brick.....measuring doors and windows in your own home will give you an indication of sizes for these which you can use to make a guesstimate for windows and doors in your model.....I also use a 1/35 figure as a reference to get a feel for how things are looking.....and I suppose my biggest tip is to draw out your design first as this allows you to tweak things before you commit to the foam......I think I drew this building three times before it started to look right.....I hope that helps you get started and then its just a case of practicing👍

    A quick question, what size do you make your bricks & paving stones etc? I’m trying to figure out a size & I take it with it being Europe it’ll all be metric, where as in the UK buildings etc will all be imperial measurements. Thanks from an avid fan trying to get back into model making, big changes from when I built 30 years ago, computer aided designs, 3D printers etc all wizardry lol 😂 Also what would you recommend for a starter 3D printer & CAD program ?

    • @CWModelling
      @CWModelling  Месяц назад +1

      The difference between imperial measurements and metric at 1/35 scale will be negligible so I just measure things that are local to me and convert the measurements to 1/35 scale. And yes, 3D printers etc are handy but not essential. Before I had one what you see 3D printed here, I would either make myself or buy from model shops. Roof tiles can be made from plastic sheet or bought from a shop and windows are easy to make from Blasa wood and clear acrylic sheet. For buying paving and bricks etc a company called Gero Design sell lots of great products and I use their stuff a lot as the kerbstones and feature cobblestones in this video are from them. I'm afraid I can't recommend a 3D printer as I don't know enough about the subject but a good starter CAD programme is called TinkerCad which is an online piece of software you access by registering for an account but it is free. You can also find lots of 3D files ready for printing from websites like Thingiverse, CGTrader, Cults3D or MyMiniFactory.

    As usual, stunning work mate. Ive got some foam boards and I'm going to give my own building scratch-building a go - RT Dio and their ilk make a lot of money off me and I'd really like to be able to do it myself. Sounds like it is relatively simple as long as you are careful, plan it properly and measure things out correctly. Mind you, you make it look easier than I bet it is. Ive got a Tamiya Elefant in the stash begging for a Tuscan villa sort of vignette/dio so i'll go back to your Marder video to get some inspiration.

    I know the place very well. As a child we often bin in Oosterbeek. I grew up in Velp. My father is now 95. His brother was at that time in Oosterbeek visiting his fiancee. Unlucky she was one of the many citizens who did lost their life in that battle.
    Very impressive build of the diorama. 👍🏻
