Found you channel last week and I am blessed. Started buying mangas when I saw your collection. Obviously I'm not going to get as much as you, just a small collection. I am Getting mangas to anime that has changed me as a person. So far I have all seven volume of A Silent Voice and 2 volumes of Orange. I was always the anime only guy, but now I see the treasure that mangas hold.

Seeing you pick up Blade of the Immortal reminded me of how long I've been meaning to get into the series since I found about it more than a year ago and I still haven't picked it up. It's just that there is so much manga I want to read but not enough time.

Japanese is really easy. i recommend this youtube channel (Japanese ammo with Misa) she is a great teacher and makes it extremely easy especially with the absolute beginner series. Check it out.

Just started picking up Magi with the 2 first volumes.
I love Magi. I own up to volume 11 i think of it. I bought them back when only 13 or so volumes were out in english so i decided to wait and haven't gotten around to buying more. I actually got into Magi through watching the anime, and while i didn't like it very much at first, i grew to love it.
I just got "I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level" yesterday! I'm so excited to read it!
Cant wait to dig into the full metal edition of fma. Bought it as soon as i'd finished watching your review. Fma is one of those series i've wanted to get into for forever.

I recently bought the manga edition of Big Hero 6. Also a comic that I read recently: Aliens vs Zombies, it was really fun , I would recommend it.

For Lightnovels I really recommend you to read "Your Name." and "The empty box and Zeroth Maria" or the "Zaregoto"-Series
I haven't read that many lightnovels but I think from the 10 ones I own these are my favourites

Blade of the Immortal Omnibus Vol. 6 is going to be a 4-in-1, because you know, DH CONSISTENCY!
Terium Battle Angel Alita: Last Order was all in omnibus format except the last two so I understand why it’s so annoying.
Also I can tell you this Volume 27 of Blade of the Immortal is the most difficult volume to find. And it's expensive. The best price you can find is about $80 which is what I spent on mine. I am almost done reading Blade of the Immortal too.

Right now I want Jojo, Berserk, Diamond no ace, and Ashita no joe volumes. Those are one of my favorites. I recommend Diamond no ace if you love Haikyuu. its very similar and the main character is one of the best shounen sports mcs. And for the best sports series Ashita no joe is amazing to read

Those ippo volumes are tiny lol, cool covers though, are they reprinting the entire series like that? I may start collecting. I am learning Japanese too, i feel your pain, hard language to learn, but totally worth it, there's too many great manga's that will likely never see translation for me to give up. I also find the more Japanese manga that starts building up on your shelf that you see daily that you cant read the more motivated you will become to put the work in. Maybe we could get work as manga translators if we got good enough haha.
I’ve been killing slimes is great. But it’s EXTREMELY casual and slice of life. At least in the first volume, it doesn’t dive deep into the story. I was able to turn my brain off and read, and I thought it was awesome. Already preordered volume 2

hello, the manga of hajime no ippo is an excellent manga that is great that you have those 3 volumes, are the tomos a reprint or a recoplilation that they are selling? I have only seen the manga individually (take it in case it is a new compilation on which page you bought it?
hi i don't know if you will see this but i have three series that i would recommend you the first is arachnid the second is pochi and kuro and the third is gleipnir wich is my favorite but sadly i think there is only three books released

i just finished I've Been Killing Slimes this morning. It was...okay. I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more as a manga.
Since your starting to get into light novel you gotta check out danmachi (is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon)
If you're interested in more light novels check out "The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria". It's a great mystery series and it has pretty good writing too which most light novels don't I find.

That's what worries me about trying light novels. The quality of writing. I tried Rising of the Shield Hero and was disappointed.
The Empty Box and the Zeroth Maria sounded interesting enough for me to put aside my light novel doubts and try again.
Just got volumes 1 and 2. Crossing my fingers that I'll enjoy it.
I want to read Re:Zero too, but I'm pretty sure the writing won't be great.
Just Joshin' the writing is fine... of course rising of the shield hero writing is mediocre, they don’t have a big publisher. Yen is the biggest LN publisher state side and the 2nd biggest manga publisher. They can afford the editors lol

I'm too "scared" to get into light novels.
I tried volume 1 of Rising of the Shield Hero, and while the story wasn't too bad (there are some things that bug me about it, but ultimately it was interesting), what really upsets me is the quality of the writing.
I don't know whether it's the translators, or the author, or the quality of light novel writing in general, but reading it was a chore. The writing didn't feel professional at all. Issues with characters talking back and forth with no breaks between quoted sentences explaining who is talking (very confusing sometimes). Translators introducing spelling errors all over...
This makes me nervous to pick up other light novels because I don't know if other stories have better quality writing.
I'm trying again with one called The Empty Box and the Zeroth Maria. And I'd love to read Re:Zero to know what happens next after the show. But if I don't enjoy Maria then I think I'm going to stick with just manga.

Japanese manga volumes in general are just so much more quality and beautiful and also so cheap! I mostly buy my manga in Japanese since I can read them and they are very reasonably priced compared to English manga which is very, very overpriced in my opinion.
Why won't Hajime no Ippo get released in English? Just curious. Is it cause sports manga (and anime) are seemingly taboo over here? As in distributors won't touch them with a ten foot pole unless they're super popular like Haikyu and Kuroko?
I think buying Japanese vols is a complete waste of money but the ones you got look pretty swanky how are you gonna resist getting all of them

InsidiousSwede nice, are you watching the anime? I know you prefer manga but the voice acting in the anime is EASILY the best I have heard in years, and I honk it’s worth looking at even if you don’t watch the whole series. The manga is definitely top tier tho!
Generally I only watch the anime of a manga I enjoy after finishing the series. But if it's fantastic, i'll probably check it out sooner.
InsidiousSwede it’s not fantastic, it’s pretty good but it does have some problems in the animation department but it is definitely worth the watch.

I've read all 10 volumes of Vinland saga so far and to be honest can someone tell me why it's so highly rated, I think it's great but after book 4 personally the story is pretty dull. I want to like it more than I do.

Hayden Kerr There's a re-release of High School of the Dead that is all in color. Not sure about other series. Usually there's a few color pages at the beginning of a volume of most series I own, but then the rest is black and white.

I’m losing my interest in collecting and reading manga, not because I don’t like the stories or anything like that. It’s more down to how it’s looked at, I’m not strong nor brave enough to forge my own path (as the old cheesy saying goes) it’s just I don’t have anyone to talk to about it, my friends aren’t interested and I feel like the more and more I delve into the medium of manga and anime people who know start to see me as lesser. I can understand it to a point, with shows like Fairy Tail and Eromanga sensei which are both gross and weird and I try my best to keep as far away from that kind of thing as I can, but they know it exists and they know I like anime and manga and they automatically think I like that stuff. Also I’m constantly worried about what girls are gunna say if they find out, like ‘21 year old man reading and watching Japanese shit, what are you a weirdo’ is what I’m expecting. I dunno, needed a place to vent. Cheers.
Well, do you really want to be with friends, who label someone as a loosers for doing only what he enjoys? i would try to find friends who like you the way you are....
If you're worried about liking anime in your 20's and relationship. Just know that my mom is in her 40's and still watching anime. She's been watching when she's little, and still doing it right now. She's married and have 4 kids (including me). Now all of us siblings watch anime as well, nothing wrong about it we bond perfectly 😊 Her friends at work DON'T treat her differently because of it. That's actually what they like about her, and that's because she's being honest to herself that people are drawn to her.
Anyways what I'm trying to say is, if people judge you based on your interests then YOU move away from them. They're not worth it. They're not your real friends, just keep being yourself. I know it's hard being judged and treated less, but hey I'm in HS rn and there's a lot of mean people (Haha bullies they're everywhere) who hates anime and manga. And do I feel sad when they stare at me like trash? Yes, yes I do. But I LOVE ANIME, I love it because of the plot, characters, life lessons etc. But them not liking it, doesn't make anime or manga any less awesome. Try looking at it that way. I'm not gonna forbid myself from achieving my happiness, because of them. I mean WHO ARE THEY?
