What would you do if your collection was damaged by flood or fire?
True, a lot of my friends know that i watch and read anime and manga, but i NEVER tell them. It all comes natural. If someone asks me about it or something related to anime or manga comes up then i will be open about it, but for the rest of the time i just treat it like some "at home activity" like you don't just go around telling everybody what kind of porn you watch, no, BUT IF SOMEONE ASKS ME ABOUT IT or something related to it pops up then sure.
I think the most important thing is to not be really ashamed about it and also being able to joke about it (because trust me, people will joke about it.)...
*Just be casual about it* that is the best advice i can give about it.

The only time I’ll watch an anime is if there is no corresponding manga for it.
What in your opinion makes a character? Is it their design? The initial impression they give you? Or is it how the author chooses to characterize them further on in the story?

#askSwede How do you manage reading multiple manga at the same time ? Even though I have many manga i want to read I don't really like switching from one manga to another so often
I had a friend over once, and we got to talking about my collection (probably because it takes up like a 5th of my wall space) and i asked if he wanted to try any. He said he didnt because he thought it was all just porn and asked me to "point out a single one without nudity" . So, sort of indignant, i spent a solid 2 minutes doing just that. Convinced and now curious i went with a safe bet and tossed Death Note at him, and he really took to it
As for a question, do you think the manga style of story telling (a single continuity story created and managed by few people) is better than the mainstream Western comic style (multiple seperate lines that never end) ?

I really don't get this whole "what would people think about me for my manga collection?". Why should you care? Do you put people's opinions of you over something you love doing? If so, then stop collecting. If not, the keep collecting. It's not a complicated situation. People need to stop giving a sht of what society thinks of them. It makes people so hypocritical towards themselves it's ridiculous. If your friends stop being your friends when they hear about your hobby then they weren't worthwhile friends in the first place. And if randos think you are a weirdo and don't want to have anything to do with you for that, then they are not worth your time either. Put yourself first and others second. Especially since your hobby literally doesn't affect anyone but your own wallet.
I also don't get the "know to laugh about it" and "be casual about it". Why? So if your hobby is not a very popular one aka doesn't give you "street cred" then you shouldn't be all passionate about it? If you play the guitar you should be proud and if you like manga you should be ashamed? What gives? Just talk about it the way you want to. I take manga very seriously and I mention it to almost anyone I encounter as it comes to those general getting to know each other questions. Why should I hide it or make jokes? I love it.
Seriously people. Stop caring what others think. It doesn't matter. What matters is what you think. If you think something is worth more to you, then do it over the lesser thing. Others' opinions shouldn't come into the equation at all. You'll make friends with those who like and respect who you are, not those that you make a good superficial impression on. Get a grip on life.
Side note: perhaps try to read some books by Ayn Rand and to understand them through video essays or whatever else. It might open your mind a little more and teach you to live less dependent on others. It's philosophical stuff.

Oh, definitely. I also don't like when people shove things I don't care about in my face or in an extremely narcissistic manner, trying to make everything come back to their topic of choice. But going around mentioning that fact about yourself once and maybe a little photo or video or demonstration of some kind of what you like seems more than welcome imo so we can get a broader context into the person we are dealing with. Pretty much everyone that knows me (friend or otherwise), know that I am way into manga. I almost never mention it, but it's something people always have in mind so it makes conversations easier.

Which manga did you show your family? I showed my grandma "a silent voice" and she really enjoyed the series. It's pretty short (for a manga) and has a very mature undertone to it. At first she was reading the first volume in from left to right though, which led to some confusion :D
What would be other Indie Comic publishers that you love other than Image
I'd imagine that a large manga collection such as yours would take up a lot of space. what do you do when you run out of space?Because I bought a bookshelf for my book/manga collection and have run out of shelf space. I'd buy another bookshelf, but my family is against that because they don't want me buying more books/manga.

Why should you care what your family thinks about it? If it's your own money, then do whatever YOU think is right. Your family doesn't control YOUR life. You do. Just do what you think is right. Maybe their opinion right for you. Maybe not. Think about it and get to your own conclusion. Not me, nor your family, nor InsediousSwede can give you the right answer. Only you can.

Do you think there rarity of certain out of print series should factor into how much they overall cost? As a collector I’m sure you have some thoughts about this as you have somewhat talked about some series you haven’t continued due to certain volume prices costing an arm and a leg, but there is something fulfilling and nice about knowing you have something considered rare amongst your collection. Though I’m asking also cause in these situations do you have any solutions or suggestions for looking for some of that expensive stuff at a lower decent price? Cause I’ll be honest I got into Ultimate Muscle about a year or two ago I think and haven’t continued it cause the next volume is almost $40 everywhere I look, I know that there are numerous volumes in this series that are just expensive for some reason compared to others, but I do like it and I’d hate to fully drop it due to not wanting pay 4x what I would on a volume of something else at B&N.

I started reading vagabond a few weeks back,after i saw your mangaka analysis video.I was totally hooked...The artwork blew me away.Its currently my favorite..i bought most of the vizbig omnibus volumes too.I was checking online to find out when the next chapter was going to be released.Surprise of surprises...not a single volume,the past three years!!
It's definitely a hiatus. Inoue is finishing his other manga Real before going back to Vagabond. So once that ends he should start making new chapters.

I personally hated it, even though it’s good character development. It’s just that I don’t like it when these violent characters turn into pacifists. I prefer characters who start off as pacifists and stay that way
Nice video and i have an ask : Like when i started to read manga , i bought some one piece omnibuses ( 6 ) and now im not sure if i should continue to buy the omnibuses or to start with the one piece mangas from 0 (like to get those 18 volumes of manga non omnibuses:normal volumes ? ) And BTW : im between 15 and 16 yrs old so I cant sell on ebay/amazon my omnibuses and i dont want my parents to help me a lot ... cuz i bought all my mangas with my money ... and I want my collection to be like all by myself .. not with a lot of help from others .. I think that collecting is like any other niche hobby -- the ones who like it, REALLY like it. Conversely, those who don't can't really seem to understand why anyone would. I think the lack of initial interest, coupled with the sometimes obsessive nature of the fan base, is what turns so many people off to anime/manga entirely. But, really, whether other people get it or not, you should just do what you enjoy. Great video.

I don't really get why you should hide from new people the fact that you are into manga.
I usually don't see people, who think like "uh u into/anime/manga/games etc. ugh this is horrible".
But actually few months ago i found a guy like that and it was first time in my life i think, i told him that im really into anime and i watch it alot, and he was like "ugh, i feel sorry for you". So after that we had a little dialog and then i just told him to piss off, cuz he is a stereotyped idiot which just prejudices people. Nobody need friends like that, so if they see what you like and think about you as a "wierdo" this is not ok, why do even bother. Idk

Not sure, I don't have the time to make any video series consistently, but I would like them to be fairly often.
Swede, I totally do the same. I just won't tell people that I've recently met. But some of my friends know but they just don't care or give little interest to it. It's a hobby and if it makes you happy with collecting, just continue to do that. I have many other hobbies in my life aside from manga like videogames, sports or I give interest to some hobbies from my friends. Collecting manga doesn't define you, it's just a small part.
Also. What do you think of the black and white manga vs. The color comics. Why was it done that way for many years in japan. Do you like it? Or would you rather have color pages manga, like the american comics do. Not wanting the american comics ofcorse, just simply colores manga. Why is it black and white all the time and can that patern change? Is it becuse of tradition?? Love your chanel. The anime man may be 1# cuse hes more general, but when it comes to manga alone, i think your the manga man...or dude lol. :)

Whats your process of bying manga and do you have a list of stores on line?? Cuse i only rely on ebay and amazon for my material for years. Any recomendations on the where and how?
It's a long one, but to keep it simple these are the steps I go through:
- Go onto Amazon's manga section, and search by upcoming series.
- Then I find the titles i'm interested in for the coming Tuesday (when the new manga is released).
- Next I price match on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Rightstuf, and InstockTrades to find the best deal.
- Then I place my order.
