Really appreciate the effort and quality of your vidoes! Desevres heaps more recognition :)🤙 (You've definitely changed my mind about Tesla's in Australia ⚡👍)
"a little bit of juuuuiiiiccceeeeee" lol I wonder if the lack of roundabouts in the US is a problem here for Aussie roads. You hardly ever see a roundabout in the US.
That green light chime addition to the autopilot package is such a game changer! Glad Tesla decided to include it as a standard feature now rather than having to pay a fortune for FSD. Excellent video mate! 🙂
It is now Sept 2023 and using basic Auto Pilot on my model Y. Yes, I like the green light chime. Also there is an enable to see the stop lights and signs now. Still it will not slow down or stop with Auto Pilot enabled. We have to disable and do that ourselves.
I just did a back to back, 3 and Y, test drive from Chadstone Melbourne store. Their cars had the standard autopilot unlocked (Richmond seemed to have it locked as did speed adjustment). I loved it, but tended to lean to the left. Took all my will power to not shift the wheel to the right. Also Micheal says hi if delt with him at the brief Brighton store when you test drive.
My main gripe with the standard and enhanced autopilot features is that during all those years, the major annoyances haven’t been addressed properly. Phantom braking, poor road signage recognition in Germany, poor detection of parking spots for the auto park feature. I feel like I’ve paid too much for very poorly implemented features.
Thats fair, although I would argue that phantom braking has significantly improved in the last 6 months (at least for us), to the point where it hardly ever happens. But yeah I find it weird auto park hasn't been improved, as well as speed sign recognition.
I have no needs for EAP here in the US. i feel it is a waste of 6000 US dollars and does not have all the features yet. I wouldn't use the missing features anyway. The Free basic Auto Pilot is good enough for me. Also FSD is insanely expensive and would not ever get my moneys worth of using it.
Thanks for the videos, you are the reason I ordered my Model Y a couple of weeks ago. I am in the Feb-May shipment. I look forward to your new videos with the new car.
Another great review Ryan. The backing cameras a great but it definitely needs a 360 camera so that you can turn on the front cameras when you are driving into a carpark. My current car which is a Kia Stinger has a 360 camera and its so helpful I can't do without it now so I am still sitting on the fence about ordering a Tesla as it doesn't have this feature and costs the same as our Stinger.
That road is pretty calm now but when u come into Sorrento over the summer it is super banked up. And when going through the rye near the water it’s terrible take the drive from an hour to nearly 2 and a half. Thanks so much for the vid lots of help
I also notice that autopilot is very conservative regarding bikes and pedestrians. If it detects the slightest inward move from bikes or pedestrians it applies the brakes which could be dangerous because, here at least in Belgium, drivers don’t keep the distance they should and I don’t want to be bumped. Tesla should put a display at the rear window flashing KEEP DISTANCE! 😃 I can only state that Tesla is a very save car!
Had another bike incident yesterday, I was in CC in the town driving 30mph and girl on a bike in front, as I closed in it started braking until a point where I couldn't pas the bike, it seemed to want to stop, but I took over and passe normally. It has done that several times and I hate it!
Quick question: when putting your car into a parking spot, does it already use vision only (unsure if your tesla still has the sensors). Reason for asking: I am about to order a model Y myself
@@RyanCowan Thanks for letting me know. Makes me feel a bit more at ease as I ordered the enhanced autopilot with it. Kind of was wondering if all features would be enabled again. But seems they are upping their game then with rolling out the software updates. Good 😄😄
Hey Ryan love your videos just wondering if yours is the standard range plus. The aero wheels give it away a little but that acceleration seems a bit quick for the base model. 13:23. I have been in a 2021 Standard Range plus Model 3 and don’t remember it being that quick.
Great video, thanks. Getting in and out in Tesla model 3 is the reason they should stop manufacturing this model😁. Model Y only. Scary, it wasn't going to stop for the pedestrian? I thought these cars still had a USS in addition to camera. I think only one camera in front. How does Tesla gets feedback for such situation?
We love our M3SR+ MiC LFP and seeing my stamping ground is just brilliant. Blind spot image is ridiculous and just so counterintuitive…….. it’s cheaper however. Cameras only FSD is a con IMO.
You know, it does good job but not all time , sometime that warning of crash pops or even the phantom events… so depends on road and signals as we always get phantom brake in one particular point where we don’t exit but it does do phantom brake and also speed shows as 60 and not 90 like the road is (the exit is 60 ) but it assumes exit one
Autopilot ought to be improving! It was 4 years ago when Elon Musk said: 'Soon Autopilot will drive you from Los Angeles to New York, door to door, automatically' Of course, in August of 2022 the car is nowhere close to that level of performance.
Watched a Ludicrous Feed (Tesla Tom) vid the other day. He has the green light reminder beep enabled. So he was at a set of lights waiting to turn right with a RED arrow. The lights changed green (to go straight ahead), but the arrow was still red and yet he had that beep. Bit of a failure there with the software not recognizing a red arrow and possibly dangerous if a person isn't watchful. Tesla Tom was watchful and did his right turn when the arrow went green. So a driver should ALWAYS beware when using these more and more sophisticated driver assist systems.Should be simple to know that, buy hey, we are dealing with Human Nature - the good and bad!
Interesting video thanks👍. Just wondering: when leaving the roundabout that last time, when it freaked a bit, maybe indicate when you leave the roundabout (which you should do anyway🤔). Maybe it needs to be told whether you're leaving or continuing around.
Indicating will often result in autopilot disabling. It is not designed to go around roundabouts, was just testing it out. Also, was going straight in the round about so not meant to indicate. 👍
@@RyanCowan Thanks Ryan, forgot about that🙄. But just FYI, and to stop you getting a ticket 😉, yea, you do have to indicate when leaving a roundabout, even when going straight through, at least in Qld and NSW: www.nsw.gov.au/driving-boating-and-transport/roads-safety-and-rules/stopping-giving-way-turning/roundabouts
My Model X with FSD still have trouble following stop-and-go slow-down-and-accelerate highway traffic. When cars ahead accelerate, it just does not follow close enough and other cars start to cut in front and create some dangerous situations. Then, when it finally does decides to catch up, it speeds up fast and the cars ahead are already slowing down substantially, yet it is still speeding up and until it phantom brakes suddenly and creates even more danger for the occupants in my X. My other two coworkers who have their Y LR and Y P also agree that autopilot is not there yet. It cannot even perform some basic functions well. For another example, I just my FSD on the right most lane and there is a merging lane to my right, my X would not let the car to the right merge even if the car has its blinkers on. When the driver of the other car looks at me, I pointed to the car (as a funny gesture and wish he understands me). It is not there yet.
My model 3 often does not change the cars speed in Auto pilot if a speed change zone is entered. It seems a hit and miss function and I cannot work out why.
Regarding bikes I just don't get it at all! Especially in the city, where bikes often are, you are awake, attentive and aware of your driving, why such a 'violent' reaction to bikes or pedestriants!??? Huge bummer in my opinion! BTW what version are you running?
@@RyanCowan i don't understand why though the rear is very hard to see out of, and it doesn't take corners like a model 3 does. it feels like your driving a soccer mums car, it doesn't feel as good as a model 3 or model S, but I don't understand why people like SUVs, and they look terrible to me compared to a sporty sedan or convertible. So I dont' see the appeal at all.
'...if bikes are coming out into the road brakes are applied heavily. So we turn it off...' Ryan, bikes are legally using the road. Cyclists are road users. They pay rates exactly the same as you. Possibly explain what you do in place of Autopilot brake application or please re-sit your licence. Slide your licence across the counter and tell your local licence issuer, 'I don't deserve it, I don't respect cyclists.' Other than that, I like your shows.

Ryan, does Autopilot ‘learn’ using AI, or is it just the application of software updates?
Both I believe, but mostly from software updates
Surely the name of the channel is changing with the impending arrival of the Y
Ryan did say in this video that he will probably change the channel name to Y soon.
My Y has terrible Autopilot behaviour in bumper to bumper situation.
