@@TheGentlemanGunner I was going to bring that also, the rule has been changed and you can use thumb screws, I ran them at the Liberty Match(T3) last year and they had no issues with it.
10 years ago IDPA was a big deal in the Houston and surrounding areas. Many shooting clubs hosted a monthly match and weekly week night matches. That started to die out around 2018. More and more shooters, like myself, wanted USPSA. Nowadays it’s mainly USPSA, Steel Challenge or Multi-Gun matches. There may be a some clubs still doing IDPA or an Outlaw version of it but not many.
You sir are such a valuable resource of knowledge and helpful information. Thank you for the walk through of things to consider for IDPA. Do you ever shoot or prefer a Stacatto XC for IDPA? Would that gun be legal or is it too heavy or other reasons it wouldn't work?
@@gair1944 I have shot an XC at an IDPA match before and enjoyed it. It’s IDPA legal for ESP/CO and is one of the most popular setups for Carry Optics these days. The rules have evolved quite a bit over the past few years and at the time I got the MPAs, the XC wasn’t legal due to the comp, but now’s it’s legal and I would’ve taken one for sure!
I run a Comp International holster, DAA IDPA pouches and Kore Garrison 1.75 ratchet belt . But I hadn’t thought about using a spare RHT that I changed out from my IPSC rig - maybe I’ll try that - just cause it’s got a cool custom print… Vest is the cheapest lightest thing that will just cover my muzzle.
Those Comp-Tacs are hard to beat… I probably would’ve gone that route over the RHT if I could’ve found one for a full since 5” that’ll cover a full length dust cover.
@@saintmichael753 yes, those drills will come when I release the shootout video between that gun alongside the XR920P & TTI Combat. And will do the 1k review as well… it just takes a little time during Major match season to get to it.
That’s definitely a culture thing among the two orgs. I actually prefer USPSA from a gameplay perspective… but our local IDPA group is what keeps me in it for sure
Broadly speaking, 2011s are popular in CO/ESP and it became magnified when they loosened up on equipment ruleset over the past couple of years. But I know plenty of solid shooters still using Glocks and those guys tend to be a little more disciplined with developing both their shooting skills and match craft.
@@TheGentlemanGunner it’s just something I noticed. 2011 and S2 also probably get the most clicks for videos. So let’s not disparage anyone. @@rurouniad that is interesting and I’d have to keep in mind each club is different. Would like to see more 92x out there as we have one shooter that shoots the defensive version. Canik and Walthers are also popular out our way
I just got the DS9 IDPA model but I’m not a fan of the A2 grips. Very slick in my opinion. MPA says they’re not selling the A3s separately which is very frustrating considering how much money I spent.
There is no open division in IDPA. Ported and comped gun are allowed in IDPA in the following divisions so long as they make weight and fit in their respective divisions… Carry Optics (CO), Enhanced Service Pistol (ESP) and Conceal Carry Pistols (CCP).

FYI thumb screws are allowed on IDPA holsters now.
Really? I got challenged about that at AR state… so if that’s the case… then cool!

I am looking forward to the AIWB for IDPA video. I am interested in getting into IDPA
Coming out this Saturday (possibly Sunday)… so be on the watch!
Nice video.

I shot yesterday’s match with a Colt .38 Super in an early 70s vintage Milt Sparks holster. Worked OK.
There go! Coming out is usually the biggest step for most

Good stuff. M&P Carry Comp 25 yard bill drill or transitions drill with a red dot coming soon? Still planning on a 1k round review?

Great video, I’ve shoot both IDPA and USPSA, I like USPSA better, I’ve noticed the IDPA shooters are a little uptight for some reason.

Good stuff. Feels like every other competition video is a 2011 of some sort then followed by a CZ S2.

Hey humble marksman just did a video on your MPA LOC. Do you know the level of aggressive grips your ordered on it? Thanks
They’re A3, currently the most aggressive. The MPAs in this video are A2.

I'm confused. I thought ported barrels or slides were only legal in open division in both IDPA and USPSA.

@@TheGentlemanGunner it has no business in IDPA, it's a joke.
Another thing are the gun rules, they have weight limits on pistols, supposedly for carry yet they all PCC, doesn’t make sense.
Yeah… all rules were thrown out for PCC lol… I’m still hopeful that someone will draw from appendix with one 😂
What size is the compac mag pouch, I need it for an atlas mag.
