This was during their practice before they performed on stage in HONG KONG at MAMA 2017 Awards show. It is their original Korean version, the MV was remixed by DJ Steve Aoki which is in 90% english and 5% Korean … they collabed with him after he heard the demo of the song and run with it and got credit for being featured in the video.
The comment section is being immature with who is the best dancer. If you are a BTS fan for long then you have to admit they both are best in different styles. No comparison needed. You can have a favourite but don't be toxic when someone says Jhope or Jimin is the best dancer. Cause they both are and that's a fact!

As far as best dancers, they all kill it, but Jimin is a trained contemporary and hip hop dancer (popping/locking, etc) and very naturally gifted and J hope is a trained hip hop/street dancer. Suga used to be a
b-boy in his hometown too. But they all have trained so hard throughout the years that they can all be considered great dancers!!🤗💜💜

Just a little FYI....in Korean culture guys and girls don't touch, its taboo.
They don't date till ready to marry, don't hold hands, kiss, make out.
They aren't sexual like in America, they don't show much skin at all. Till they started coming to the USA they didn't do many things.
Asian culture is all about Education and learning to be the best you can at anything you do!!
Remember, these guys started training at 13, 15, 16 yrs old. They lived in a dorm together, no going home, it was 24/7....365... the guys went home after a few yrs to visit, but only for 3 days....as a matter of fact, they lived together till 2022, even tho they have their own places, but for pratice and singing it was better to be at the dorm.
So yeah, they hug, and are all they have for comfort and to lean on.

Edit: wow , people in the comments lol jhope is dance leader cuz he is the best he can blend really well cuz he has being in a dance team for so long and not jimin can’t do that. That’s why the ones that’s the dance leader is him and not jimin and he was having difficulties when he is not there. Also jhope is the back for that , to blend , that’s what most of the choreographers do with dance team so they can check everyone and still dancing and blending with the least skilled ones. So the team can look good. The dude is responsable of the epic performances of BTS. But put them in the middle , solo and freestyle and he will do his best. Jimin can’t freestyle in the level of jhope and doesn’t do all the styles of jhope. And if he tries , jhope does pro level. His performances of fake love he did 8 styles like in less than a minute with pros on their level , his precision and musicality are insane and those insolations damm.
I don’t know what you guys can’t stand jhope being the best , when jimin get most of the praises cuz he is the most popular and jhope got hate cuz of his looks. If the faces were reversed you will be praising jhope like no tomorrow that’s why I can’t take any of those “voting awards “ and idols praising seriously. When one of those voting didn’t even include jhope but did include lower dancers of other groups lol.

@10PppowerOfKindness I just wanted to let you know that there isn't a government award for dancing in Korea. He was given an award by the Cultural Conservation Society (not government) for his 'fan dance' on the 2018 MMA.
He did an outstanding job.

The tame tags are because they're rehearsing for a live performance (you can look it up: MAMA 2017). Technicians and staff need to identify who goes where at anytime during the performance.

bts has the best choreos in kpop, mic drop isn't the best bts's dance but its def one of the best in kpop overall especially with the dance breaks and the energy they have live. A lot of other groups have harder choreographies though, but harder doesn't mean better

The name tags are for the camera people to get the right shots and be in the right place to film. This was 2017 so everyone knew their names but the camera people film hundreds of groups and to save any mistakes they wear the bibs. In the first year they wore name tags so everyone could know their names but from about 2017/2018 they didn’t need them anymore for recognition, because they became so famous.

If it helps E-Man think of idols like you do movie actors or stage actors. The idols are putting on a show and their music videos are mini movies. So they are going to wear makeup and all sorts of things. You don’t have to like it but I hope you grow to enjoy other parts of their craft- music, dance, the way their mv are shot, etc.
I highly recommend putting subtitles on because their lyrics are top tier and don’t feel bad if you have to pause and read what is being said.
Jimin and J-Hope are the main dancers and one of the best dancers of the industry. I don’t like comparing them cause they are different. J-Hope is a hip-hop dancer, Jimin both hip-hop and contemporary. His privilege is that he could dance absolutely different styles perfect.
To me Jimin is incomparable with others but I respect J-Hope’s dancing a lot, he is a great dancer for sure

This video is actually the original version of MIC Drop with the choreography for an award show. The original music video is a remix with Steve Aoki. I'm actually glad you are doing it this way, because you get to hear the original before Steve's production is added, and you get to see the awesome choreography. They do it on another level for Award Shows. The nametag are so the producers at the Award show venue will know their names and what needs to be set up etc. At this point in their career, in 2017, they aren't being judged that way. They choose which Award shows in Korea, and Asia, they wanted to attend. They were breaking into the US and Western Markets and charting on the Billboard. The only time they needed to be judged like that was in their auditions before they got signed to their agency. Their agency at this point was fairly small still, and they were an independent company.
You guys have creative imaginations. I don't think any of you were close. But the guy in the middle is the closest. They came to Los Angeles in 2014, to do a show called American Hustle life, and they worked with Coolio, and Warren G, and a beatboxer, and a lady named IRIS, that is well known, and taught them singing techniques, She really liked V's R&B and soul vibes. And they worked with Dancers. They learned a lot while they were in LA, and I think that it heavily influenced their artistry. They also recorded an album in a garage while they were there, until a producer friend let them use his studio. that was a friendship developed that benefitted both of them. The album they made was called Dark and Wild, one of my favorites. It has some gems on it. It's a darker, more grungy hip hop rock style.

Name cards are for staff and film crew so all support can identify members and their positions including when and who to close up on.
The names on their shirts are there for lighting and camera production so those crews can workout who and where to make their focus shots when BTS performs on TV or music shows. BTS is so well known now, I don’t think they have to wear those things anymore.
They wear their name tags during practice records to help the cameraman map out his movements. BTS' cameraman is a beast💜🇺🇲💜

You got it wrong , those names tags are cuz those videos are send to the broadcast station so they can review the choreography to be appropriate for broadcasting and the director know how to do the cameraman direction. Anyone that do a performance in SK station have to send videos like this with the name tag.
Also BTS do has female in their videos , specially in older ones , it’s not need for a female lead or whatever when they are 7 dudes singing about their craft not even romantic stuff.

The reason why they have their names on them is because it was for a live award show performance so it was extended and a longer dance routine than the music video itself and The Camera person was the one who needs to find out which individual BTS members is going to be in what area so that they would have the camera aimed at them.
Live performance would be probably the same thing that you just saw in the dance practice for mic drop.
The remix is actually Steve Aoki the famous DJ don’t know who Steve Aoki is he’s the one that mixes all these EDM beats and he is known for his concerts that he throws birthday cakes into the audience! His father is very famous he own the Japanese barbecue restaurant called Benihana‘s it was very popular especially in the 80s and early 90s.

This dance practice is for an award show. This is why they wear their names because during the dry rehearsal, the camera operators will be able to know who and when to film during the show.
In the MV, it's the same choreo but shortened and without the extra dancers.

Jimin in a very very talented dancer, but THE Jung Hoseok a.k.a J-Hope is Dance Captain for a reason, he’s the best.
They have about the same amount of years of dancing experience, so they’re both really good but their focus/expertise is on different dancing styles so they may not “shine” at the same times. J-Hope’s superpower is how fast he can learn a new choreography AND pass it along to someone else.
