Just to correct what Stirling said about SSRI's around the 26:38 minute mark. They do not decrease seretonin in the brain. SSRIs actually inceease it by blocking the hormonal signals to reabsorb excess seretonin in the synapses, thus keeping the seretonin levels between the synapses high.
@AxelAxe Yes, that's correct. I'm a nurse. The serotonin that is free or loose is the active serotonin. When it gets "taken up", it is no longer active and available for use, so it's like you have less serotonin. SSRI ( SELECTIVE SEROTONIN REUPTAKE INHIBITOR) stops your serotonin from getting taken back up so that you have more free serotonin available. So when someone is depressed, the SSRI actually INCREASES the amount of available serotonin. This makes sense because serotonin helps you feel good, which is why it helps with depression. Just a small error in the science of it, but your point was still correct: SSRIs do unfortunately often have negative effects on libido and sometimes makes it take longer for men to ejaculated ( or have difficulty ejaculating at all) Loved this video by the way. Just to correct what Stirling said about SSRI's around the 26:38 minute mark.
They do not decrease seretonin in the brain. SSRIs actually inceease it by blocking the hormonal signals to reabsorb excess seretonin in the synapses, thus keeping the seretonin levels between the synapses high.

@AxelAxe Yes, that's correct. I'm a nurse. The serotonin that is free or loose is the active serotonin. When it gets "taken up", it is no longer active and available for use, so it's like you have less serotonin. SSRI ( SELECTIVE SEROTONIN REUPTAKE INHIBITOR) stops your serotonin from getting taken back up so that you have more free serotonin available. So when someone is depressed, the SSRI actually INCREASES the amount of available serotonin. This makes sense because serotonin helps you feel good, which is why it helps with depression.
Just a small error in the science of it, but your point was still correct: SSRIs do unfortunately often have negative effects on libido and sometimes makes it take longer for men to ejaculated ( or have difficulty ejaculating at all)
